I would think this is the type of question that has been asked _at least_ once or twice, but the Magic Eight Ball says, “no.”

On the other hand, I may be overlooking the obvious, but I just cannot seem to find _any_ thread/post that definitively answers my question.

We all know the big secret that A314 is an oil-based product, and is thusly dispensed from a dropper bottle.

Since the cat is already out of the bag, it follows that A314 could _conceivably_ be measured in milliliters. Which leaves us with **both** drops _ **and** _ milliliters. 😕

Okay folks, this is where it gets _ **really** _ sticky; And believe you me, I have 10 pints of roofing tar and 2 gallons of beer to prove it. :o

Now, hypothetically speaking–purely hypothetical. Imagine that you were some kind of sick pervert whose twisted fetish was to use oils in spray bottles. 😮

How many **drops** of A314 might you equate to how many _sprays_ of A314. But of course, that’s just a story line from a cheap, B-rated movie. 🙄 🙂 😉

Finally–As if the set up didn’t _ **completely** _ tip my hand, I shall spare you any further melodrama: So without further adieu, 😛 I pose my question:

(#A) How many drops of A314 are in 1 mL? Specifically drops **of** A314, not just drops **from its bottle** , you follow?

(#B) Obviously different atomizers will deliver different amounts of product. But generally, how many A314 drops are in a ToGo spray, or a “Cobalt” spray, for example?

Responses are always good, but I just have to say thanks to anyone who actually reads this and _ **doesn’t** _ neg-rep me.

I’ve done some math on this and come up with the following:

10 ml bottle of A314 = 6667 mcg
1 drop = 23.8 mcg = .0375 ml
1 ml = 666.7 mcg

There are 28 drops in 1 ml

So using a 30 ml bottle, 1 spray = .15 ml
1 spray would be .15/.0375 = 4 drops or 95.2 mcg

There will be slight variation because of the density of the oil compared to the density of the liquid spray in the 30 ml bottles (thats what I used for conversion)

Hope this helps.

Oh by the way, the TO GO bottles deliver .83% of the spray of a cobalt bottle so 1 TO GO spray would be 79.016 mcg of A314

I’ve been thinking a similar thing about the sprays, how many drops/sprays in a ML. I’m going to have to get outa pipette and just measure it and do the math.

Some oils won’t atomize well at all, keep that in mind, the viscosity is wrong. That’s why internal combustion engines that rely upon fuel injection have high pressures and high strength injectors- diesel engines in particular have extremely high pressure because the fuel is somewhat viscous and the combustion process needs to have a “clean” and controlled injection pattern.

in chem we estimate “one drop” to be around .1 mL. depends on the pipette. Keep in mind that is usually for liquids, mainly water, even then its an extremely inaccurate way of estimating due to again, differences in the pipette and the lab technique that each person has. Its probably what YOU mean by ONE DROP. As you said, just “one drop” which doesn’t mean much cause we have nothing to compare that to. It’s all very relative. You can calculate how much one drop is from the bottle by taking the mL you have and taking the estimate from the site. Drops/mL = mL per drop.

1 drop of A314 is about 0.03 ml
1 spray of a regular bottle is about 0.15 ml
1 spray of a to-go bottle is about 0.125 ml
1 drop of dirty and taa oil is about 0.028 ml

The drop number above for oil product may not be exact, but the spray number is fairly accurate

I did some experimentation at work today.
As I work in a chemistry lab I have access to analytical balances and many forms of glassware and pipettes.

Zeph is correct about the drop size.

I used a balance accurate to .0001g and measured 26 drops of ultrapure water using a disposable transfer pipette. That is the plastic dropper that is all plastic. Some are graduated some are not.

Using the same pipette after cleaning and drying, I measured pure isopropyl alcohol and 26 drops was .5g (.5ml)

I used a class A glass pipette accurate to .005 ml and got 20 drops per ml of the ultrapure water.

I looked up the transfer pipettes on the internet and found that depending on the mfg. you can get from 20 to 55 drops per ml. Quite a big difference. The graduated ones are accurate to about 10%.

It does complicate doing your own mix because of the difference in density of A314 (oil) and the alcohol or diluent based mixes.

The data in my first post was based on info from the Androtics web site.
