Myself: Athletic, mid-40s, Married with children A314 is one of my favorite products. For those of you who have been around a while you have read some of my posting and musings on it before. For those of you who are new or are new to A314, these two short experiences will show you both sides of A314. Experience 1: This is almost a repeat of the experience in my post “A314 - A short cautionary tale” On this day I decided to go with 3 drops of A314 and two sprays of Ammo. Once again I had to attend a social function early in the morning. I am feeling a little tired so I am not all that outgoing. I find a set of empty seats in the middle of friends of mine who are very tied up in conversations in their respective little groups. The friends sitting behind or down the row from me say hello but as I just sit there quietly, no real conversation ensues. Respect but distance. After less then 10 minutes the friends who are sitting in front of me but do not know I am there as I have said nothing, suddenly in the middle of the conversation, the female sits straight up, cocks her nose slightly to the air to one side, turns around somewhat quickly, and says “Bosshank, I did not know you were sitting right behind me.” We continued on in small talk for several minutes. Of note - I am sitting in a prime location for this event, but NO ONE sits within two seats to the left or right of me. Yes - I have showered - lol. I am generally very social and enjoy company but I am tired. I know my demeanor says leave me alone but I am tired enough I do not care to do anything about it - like act chipper even though I am not. My pheromones amped and projected my attitude. People subconsciouly or consciously got the message. (Mark-in-dallas had a great post on just this effect - read it if you have not) As the event ends I am fully awake and feeling a little bad that I did not do a better job at greeting my friends when I first entered so I go around greeting everyone. People generally light right up - especailly the females as I say hello and make quick conversation making the rounds. One _really_ seems to perk up if you understand … Next, I had a service issue at a store. They had made a clerical mistake and were looking at double-shcarging me for something. A minor amount - less than $20.00 but still… So I went to the appropriate person and explained the situation. I did not have a receipt or anything. She accepted my explanation and cancelled the second potential charge. Experience 2: I am wearing A314 with [Instant Honesty](https://a314.com/product/instant-honesty/), my favorite combo. I am in a LONG line at a store. A small group of heavy duty 20-something all male of bikers get in line behind me. Leather, piercings, lots of ink - you know the drill. Now I am not saying anything bad about bikers or making any implied statements - just letting you know the situation. It looks like they are all with one guy who is buying a cell phone accessory of some sort. After a few minutes passes with the lines barely moving I go into my usual banter. At first these guys look at me like WTF. A few minutes later comes acceptance. Then comes smiles at my comments. Then comes laughter and agreement. And they start to call me “Sir”. By the time I check out the 20 something guy right behind me offers to take my cart back to the “corral” at the front of the store. Now he does not need it nor does anyone else in his group. He is just doing it. Nice guy. Never make assumptions. At this point let me interject one semi-related observation - for you guys who find cold approaches or starting conversations or finding something to say a little difficult, waiting in line at a store is the perfect place to practice. You have a captive audience who generally feels “safe”. Want to know what to talk about - if you are in a grociery store or Wal Mart or the sort - look at the cover of People magazine or one of the others you always find there. That should give you _PLENTY_ of material for jokes or commentary …like … “Is someone’s “_secret_” wedding _really_ a secret if it is on the front page of People magazine?” That one always draws snickers, snorts and chuckles but I am sure you guys can do a LOT better once you put your mind to it. A314 is a great product but it is a little complex. It does pretty much as advertised as long as YOU advertise accordingly. See Renny’s great thread on Congruence if you do not understand what I mean or if you have not read it yet. But it can also give you side-effects you may not have counted on. Respect but distance. ---

Bosshank, what does 1 drop do for you? Also, how do friends/assosciates that know you well react to A314? Is the effect immediate, or more like “hey, what did you do to your hair/is that a new suit”? When I tried MX 172, I found it naturally tended to create distance. I can see how if you use some body language or speech to counter that, it would help. If you are bad at that, though, you get a “Clint Eastwood” effect. A314 is probably great for the Rodney Dangerfield’s out there that can’t get no respect. ---

Good thread.. I guess the best and the worst thing about A314 is that it works in such a subtle manner, that initially it doesnt seems to work. Worse because of the obvious (or not) and best because… The respect comes _naturally_. Because theres no jumpstart, the effect lasts much longer. People get accustomed to it, and they stick with their association of respect. People tend to look up to you. They give you advice if you are younger and seek it if you are older. They just take you more seriously. Effects of this perticular mix are really hard to put into words. Thats why I didnt update my journal. I just _feel_ the subtle effects it has on people around me. ---

Daedeulus - Not sure what 1 drop does for me - can’t remember - must not be what I wanted - I have been using the 3 drop level for normal use for a while. A314 was one of the first things I got - via the LS site about a year before I found this site. As such I have been using this for 3 years - for a lot of my friends it has just become part of my persona. Nothing like the “new suit or new doo” kinda comments. As I said before I rotate it once a week or so with [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/) and sometimes Ammo/MX237 (Ammo in neroli scent). When wearing A314/MX172/173 body language, speech and demeanor become key. Even neutrality can come across as leave me alone. Irritation can be magnified in the eye of the beholder. Slightly harsh can come across as very harsh. Make sure they know you are joking. ---

IG/androsterone is great stuff. It seems to be fairly simple compared to that MX172 stuff (there’s no “mission” or “command” feeling), and seem really great for social interaction where you want to come across as a “cool” guy. I haven’t noticed it pushing people away, though it does seem convey more “gravity” to a person. Alot of people talk about “androstenone” and “Alphas” but I think androsterone is a bigger part of being an “alpha male”: in a primate social group, usually the alpha male is older and the least impulsive. ---

Those are a couple of the reasons I interchange A314 with [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/) - it backs down off of the heavy alpha vibe AND you still get respect with slightly more “gravity” as you say but from having an air of “cool”. After a while of switching them around the same people - you are a “cool” alpha leader. Just gotta be aware of which one you are wearing that day and move accordingly. Sometimes that means in congruence BUT sometimes that means with a little more authority when wearing Instant Gentleman or a little less so as not to come on too strong with A314. ---

To punctuate your points, I’ll post a little scene from today. I was only wearing 1 drop of a314. I ordered a new set of wheels and tires for my car and was there to get them mounted. The crew was pretty much just trying to get me in and out asap, as far as the job itself was concerned. But after that, they seemed to just wait, almost as if they were waiting for me - at least, I had no idea what the wait was about, because it wasn’t very clear, and this is a very simple job. Anyways, I felt that the crew was very distant so I actively asked them if the tire pressure sensors were mounted on the new wheels, if the old tires had been dismounted from the old wheels, etc.. They hadn’t yet, so they started to do that, after taking off one old tire, they get a look at the tire pressure sensors and are discussing it. This time, instead of just hanging back and waiting for them, I walk inside the shop and take a look at the sensor myself, and talk to them about the possible options. Easy decision, just forget the sensors for now. So I’m watching them dismount the tires, and the manager (or at least who looks the most like a manager) asks me if I’m brothers with this other Asian guy he knows. He starts getting into how he’s best friends with this one guy and that I look exactly like him or something like that. I don’t know, pretty much all I really got out of the conversation was that I look like a friend of his, and that he has a bunch of Asian friends. He asked what nationality I was, I told him I was Korean, his friend was Cambodian. 🙄 I guess we could look alike, you never know. Anyways, moving on, all is said and done, and I needed to go pay for the wheels. I wasn’t sure if they needed their shop space, so I asked them if I needed to move the car. I didn’t get a response. Instead one guy comes around, tries to open the door, it’s locked. So I open it for him with my key fob, he gets in, realizes he needs the keys to start the car. I give him the keys wondering why he needs to get inside my car and needs my keys. A bit to my surprise, he starts my car, backs it out, and parks it. I walk over, realizing he thought I meant, he needs to move my car, I let him know that I was actually wondering if I needed to move it, and that I wouldn’t have asked him to move my car like that. Anyway, that was sort of nice service I guess. 🙂 ---

You can get some pretty odd reactions sometimes - I get the impression every now and then people are not sure what they should do. Of course I get that impression about some people - that they are “clueless” - whether I am wearing [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/) or not - lol. ---

That’s true, actually. A314 puts you in an Alpha mode in the true, pack leader sense of the word in that people may gravitate to you for guidance and leadership. If you’re a standoffish person by nature, the message you could be sending is a sort of “Go away! I don’t have time for your insignificant crap!” This is also dependent on circumstances. A corporate manager in a Fortune 500 company could get away with that, as his job is usually 90% delegate to subordinates and 10% sign paperwork/attend meetings. A manager at a smaller business, where he’s in relatively close contact with people several rungs down on the ladder will definitely want to soften the edges with the [Instant Honesty](https://a314.com/product/instant-honesty/), Openness, and/or Shine buffers. -D4 ---
