Job Interview madness! Ok so I’ve been trying to find a part time job that pays roughly equivalent to my teaching/museum gig, so I’d have more time for school and my volunteer project (that is related to my Masters Thesis). This sounds crazy unless you realize how little we actually get paid. So I see this ad, that is basically a description of me, in a high end rental finding service (think chic apartment locators but not the same business model). They’re a national company, expanding to the area I live in. The ad said to come by with a resume and look sharp (kind of job that needs a “face”) So since it is VERY close to where I live, I change, primp a little, and run. I was wearing (the clothes and makeup are as important as the mones here) Bright seafoam green tailored blouse (perfect fit) Black knee length pencil skirt tan fishnets (this is an old trick I use. . unless you look very close you can’t tell they aren’t regular hose, and they’re much cooler and more comfortable. . .remember I live in a tropical city) Black faux snakeskin 3.5 inch heels (remember I’m 5’10 flatfooted) Lavender eye makeup (makes my eyes look HUGE) rosy blush and lipstick. Hair was styled perfectly. (chin length retro bob) 3sprays IS 2 Sprays IO 1 spray IH 2 drops cops LAVANILA vanilla coconut to cover. I felt like a million bucks (and looked like it too) I walked in right as both partners were about to leave for the day, one agreed to stay and talk to me (giving the other a rather urgent look that to me said “we don’t want to miss out on this one”) The remaining partner basically laid all his cards on the table, told me all the facets of operation and what the company plans were for the next year. He asked me about family and pets (the office is both kid and pet friendly 😮 while I don’t have kids, I plan to take FULL advantage of the pet policy) When I mentioned the time I spend every fall working for the Texas Renaissance festival he said they would never try to interfere with something like that, he is from Michigan and they have a large faire up there, I said “I know, I have friends up there through an organization I’m a member of,” and he said “Well, we might just have to find an excuse to send you up there on the company dime!” LOL So finally as I’m leaving, he walks me out and the outdoor walkway overlooks the lake. I say “You know this is really home when even on a day like this (terribly overcast) it looks gorgeous to you.” and he says “yeah, that is how we explain to the interns why people like us get the window offices”😃 I’m supposed to hear back from him today or tomorrow re: a conference call w/ the marketing director and meeting with the other partner on Monday or Tuesday. I don’t mean to sound overly optimistic, but it really sounds like as long as I do exactly the same for the other meeting, that this is in the bag.😃 ---

Ok. . .So. as some know the “job” turned out to be an elaborate bait and switch, so i’m looking again. No worries, i’ve got bigger fish to fry at the mo’. (Like trying to finish this semester/school year) I tested A314 1.23B for the first time yesterday. Alone. 1.5? (first spray came out anemic/wrong direction so I put a whole sprat on as well) spray on left wrist, smeared on right. . . So about the scent. . .a little masculine, but I can think of SEVERAL ways to mask it or just timewise. . . it “powdered down” nicely in a few hours. Self-effects. . .felt “large and in charge” very calm, but assertive. Went to lunch with friends, was talking about a mutual aquaintance’s wedding the day before. (no one really likes the groom for very rational reasons) My best friend talked about other friend’s or notables that were in attendance and that is when I noticed what I was doing. I was being supercritical of the one’s I didn’t like, making very negative observations about people, but it was utterly unemotional. (this is notable especially with one of the subjects as in the past she was sort of a nemesis of mine). I noticed I was making one of the men at the table uncomfortable then. . .he is a genuine positive kind of guy and what I was saying was clearly bothering him. I apologized and said I seemed to be in “Alpha Bitch” mode. . . .my best friend observed “yes, but you’re one of my favorite Alpha’s. . .the crown rests easy on you.” the guy I had made uncomfortable then made a quip about the “other part” and that little episode was over. . .I kept my tongue in check the rest of the lunch, with a little care in choosing my words, this A314 thing could go pretty well. I am looking forward to trying it buffered with [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) or IO and maybe a little cops. 😉 I will do my due diligence and do more independent testing first though. ---

It reminded me of years ago when I worked for a modeling agency running cattle calls. . .(there was a certain amount of authoritative bitch EXPECTED in this job) the difference here is that I recognized it and was able to curb it. . .it sounds crazy but it reminded me of an observation about human and animal behavior my friends and I have made in reference to Caesar Milan. . .he’s always saying what you want out of your dogs is a “calm submissive” but what he fails to get across is that to get that, you have to be a “calm dominant” . . . .that calm dominant was what I felt. ---

Recent News Holy Smokes! I’ve been SO busy, things are going really well. 1. I got not one but TWO jobs lol. . .(one is part time and about the prestige it will bring to my resume. . .the other is a sustainable income.) 2. Due to a fab togo sample in a recent order I tried IS/b again and yes, I CAN wear it IF I buffer it with socials or something else (we’ll get to that in a moment) 3. I’ve been toying with A314 togo 1.23b with really great results (again, needs SOME buffer, or I turn into Alpha Bitch) My new favorite mix is based on something you might initially think is counterintuitive. Once upon a time, I worked for a Modeling Agency Downtown. I taught catwalk, ran cattle calls, and was a social FACE for the agency (nightlife was part of my job) I did not like the person that this job turned me into. . .but to this day I still crave the way people treated me back then. Guess what? I found it. A314 1.23b (2 sprays) IS/b (2 sprays) ISx4 (1 spray) IOx2 (1 spray) People act “in awe of me” clumsiness and fumbling ensue, followed by profuse apologies. . . 😛 A salesperson in a cosmetics shop I frequent deferred to me and asked my opinion about a recommendation for another customer lol 🆒 A hostess in a moderately crowded restaurant fanned her hand across the room and asked “where do YOU want to sit?” “it girls” (whom I normally resent due to their sense of entitlement and callously shallow attitudes) a decade younger than me treat me with respect, almost hero worship 😃 Some people treat me with a little bit of apprehension, but they are easy to disarm with sincere friendliness and politeness 🆒 One of my closest friends, (Price refers to him as my “Gay Soulmate”) has even commented on it he said “I don’t know what got into you to make these changes, but if we could bottle it, we could quit our day jobs.” lol _IF we could bottle it_ lol 😮 In that regard, I’m thinking of letting him in on the secret. . . maybe.😉 ---

Sorry, no time to report, busy kicking ass! WOW. Just WOW. This summer has been Cuh-razy!!! 1. the ineptitude of some people never ceases to amaze me. . . a) the lucrative office job I had obtained . . .the guy forgot to mention he wouldn’t have space/ a desk for me til at least September! b) the documentary I was doing PR and networking and some writing for? ran out of money lol! 2. As I was pretty much jobless and didn’t have any plans/commitments for the summer, I bought my books for the fall semester and have been reading ahead so that I have everything read when the class STARTS. I went to my parents’ place for the 4th of July. . .saw my brother, hijinks ensued 🙂 a)TX bakers bill passed. . .as of September first, I will be baking and selling “heritage dessert” type cakes (in addition to any number of other projects now on my plate. b) while venting about certain things I came up with an idea for another writing project. . .looks like it will at LEAST be fun. As I hadn’t been in a place to have a LOT of human interaction I wasn’t using ‘mones much. used some [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/)/ io at my parents’ worked nicely but pretty predictable. 1. About 2 weeks ago I got a text message from my friend Kathy. . . just said “I have work you might want, call me” So I did. it was a 1 weekend gig working a convention for a large retailer (I’ll give more details if/when things pan out.) I went to the meetings and worked the convention wearing my game face and what I’ve come to think of as my “worldbeater” mix. 1 spray Instant Shine x4 1 spray IOx2 1spray A314 1.23b 1 spray IS/b wore Prada L’eau Ambree perfume black suit and good makeup I was indispensable within the 1st hour. . .I felt comfortable making an assertion before noon and told the District Manager, “When I do the Dallas show for you (it was supposed to be up in the air until they saw how I performed at Houston) I’m going to come in a day early and knock out all this administrative stuff . . .it needs to be done ahead of time.” Her response? “You’re ON!” rest of Saturday went by without much panic or fanfare. Sunday morning after arrival the DM introduced everyone (slightly different crew than the day before) then she pulled me aside and said. . .“I told M\_\_\_\_ about you. She manages the \_\_\_\_\_ store, are you interested in working for us on a more permanent basis?” I told her that I HAD been, but that due to the conflict with the Texas Renaissance festival (which I’ve been working for 10 years) I didn’t think it was feasible as I had been told by another manager that I wouldn’t be able to get off those weekends. She actually Laughed. She said that she and “the company” admired adherence to long term commitments and that as long as it wasn’t a certain OTHER set of dates (the 13 busiest weeks of the year for them) that was fine.) So I went out onto the convention floor and worked all morning with the Manager of the store closest to me. We hit it off HUGE! She set an appointment for the following day and I went in and signed paperwork and now unless something goes wonky (which I know CAN happen) When I get back from the Dallas convention, I have a job in the store closest to my house. I’m not deluding myself. . .I’ve never really been the “Sales” type. . .but because it is a very narrow market, and a very service oriented product, I may do well at this. Dallas convention this weekend. . .that much is a sure thing! 1. Went to an open house yesterday for the venue Price and I are looking at for the wedding. (technically no proposal yet, but the ring is being made and production delays are what is slowing everything down) Took my best friend/ probable MOH who is also getting married sometime in the next few years (has a proposal, just some difficulty setting a date) I was wearing the “worldbeater mix mentioned above” and I hit her with a little Instant Shine and IO before we walked out the door. People made a really big deal of us. . .it was like they had never seen two prospective brides work in tandem to get all the info they needed. . . People kept commenting on how pretty we both were and what “presence” I have and how petite and exotic looking she is. Now I know that flattery is part of what gets these people business but it was SO funny. I also ran into a vendor I had seen at the convention the week before (he was there in a business capacity) and all he wanted to do was talk shop! I had to detach myself from his presence because we were there for me. . .you know. . .to look at wedding stuff lol. As soon as the monetary situation starts looking up, I really intend to buy/ do more with mones. . .for now though I have to squeak by on what I have. ---

The center stone is a Tsavorite (rare-ish green garnet) the side stones are Spessartites (another type of garnet). Date set. 12/08/12 I got some “news” at the end of last week about the wedding venue (we already have money down) and basically this rumor amounted to “they lied to you about the reception capacity, half your guest will be seated outside. . . in December” I went ballistic. It was too late for me to get a hold of anyone over the weekend due to my work schedule, and they are closed on Mondays so I had to wait til Tuesday. I had originally intended to CALL them Tuesday morning, but I had a WW meeting I had to get out for, so I thought . . .maybe I should just drop by. . . it made sense the more I thought about it. (this _might_ be referred to as the “I’m all outta bubblegum” mix) So I walk into the venue office and they are all around the table for their morning meeting. . .the owner jumps up to greet me and as I enter the same space they are in. . .5 pairs of eyes look up from what they are doing. . Hello deer. . .meet headlights. I say that I have some concerns about the contract and their ability to fulfill it. The owner ushers me to another room away from the meeting. She looks disturbed, ill at ease, maybe even a little fearful. So I start asking questions. Two things about the way she answered my questions. 1. I have no doubt that what I had heard was at least in part true. 2. I have no doubt that now that I have told her that scenario is “unacceptable,” it will not be a concern/ the way things are done for at least _MY_ wedding. lol My planner entered soon after that, relieved the owner, and after she established that I really was ok with how things were going now, we added some notes to my plans. The planner was mad at the florist for telling me these things. . .but i think the florist saved my bacon! Needless to say, I think we (the florist and I) will get along just fine. My A314 oil came today!!! time to play! ---

Sales and two different angles. . . Ok, so I work as a bridal consultant, have been for almost 6 weeks. I spent the first three weeks simply learning the ropes. Moved slowly into bridesmaid groups, and now am shouldering a full appointment load with bridal. (it is nothing like “that show”) To date I had been using my “worldbeater” mix 1 spray ISx4 1 spray IOx2 1/2-1 drop A314 oil 1spray IS/b Things were going well. . .I was closing on about 50% of all my “first appointments” with a few stragglers (that I have since learned were problem brides from other consultants/ more of a training scenario) Then Friday I woke up having a “girly day” everything needed to be uber-feminine. . .so NOT a day for A314, plus I was PMSing a bit so before I hit the mones (right next to makeup) I reconsidered what I might wear. (to some, it might look like my journal skips steps. . .I kind of suck at consistent reporting, but if I put it in a combo, just assume I’ve sweet spot tested and done due diligence there.) I went with: 1 spray ISx4(neck) 1 spray IOx2(wrists) 1 spray IHx2 (back of hands as far from face as possible) 2 sprays mx412 (chest)(mainly for self-effect, or so I THOUGHT lol) 1 spray IS/b (forearms) 2 sprays mx397 (crook of elbows) I had a super short shift, just no appt, but I could take a walk in if it happened, and some admin (4 hours) a pair of brides came in, I start talking, getting to know what they are each looking for, I go to get the paperwork and remember I can’t take them both so I tell them I’m going to have to let another consultant take one of them, but that this other consultant is a buddy of mine, and that our dressing rooms are across the hall from each other. . .both of them blurted out, “I get Carrie!” . . .but the bossier one told the other she needed to go with my friend, and she did. It was a fun,and easy appointment, no hitches. . .they both narrowed it down to two dresses, wanted to sleep on it and bring in friends to help them decide. . .they set appointments for me and my friend to come in special on our day off so they can buy. Friday went well so I thought maybe that combo bore repeating. . . OMG the store opened at 10am and by 1pm I had sold two gowns outright. I spent the next few hours on paperwork and admin, and the manager on shift said to me “things are going to grind to a halt at four, I need to let someone go home, you’re top in sales for the day, so you get first choice on it” umm yes thank you, I went home, I was brainfried. So I know two days is barely a pattern but I intend to test and report more with this same mix, being mindful of specific reactions from clients (so far I’ll admit, I’m so new to this I’m not watching specific reactions I kind of get into a “zone” when I’m in an appointment. . .
