I book on attraction I’ve read, “The Attraction Code”, mentions the concept of “locus of control” (LOC). A person with an external locus of control will tend to perceive him or herself as being at the mercy of outside events. That is, what controls him is outside of himself. A person with an internal locus of control tends to perceive circumstances as being a result of his own actions, that is, his world is controlled from within himself. The author mentions a study by E. Jerry Phares “from the mid-sixties” and another from 1971 by R. de Giuseppe which showed that men with an internal locus of control had a stronger effect on the opinions of female subjects than men with an external locus of control. (Unfortunately I don’t have any more information on the sources.)

When using [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/) I have found that I tend to feel more centred within myself, and other users have used the same word: “centred”. It’s as if others’ opinions have less effect on me. Androsterone is the key ingredient in masculine mixes that influence the opinions of others like A314 and IG. I wonder if the self-effects are causing the user to shift his focus so he has a more internal locus of control?

Going further, I wonder if the various “masculine” pheros are “ingredients” of masculine personality? Androsterone is self-control. Androstenone is the willingness to take risks. And so on.

That theory actually makes sense to me based on my own personal experiences. I used to be someone who had an external LOC. I use a LOT of IG and have recently started using A314 (still figuring that one out) but since I started using IG it has really helped me to change my perceptions of myself and my place in the world. In other words, I’ve used the pheros as a tool to help me improve myself. The IG really did a fantastic job of helping me to reset my internal perceptions so that I was much more willing/able to take control and responsibility for my actions. It is amazing to me just how much my life has changed for the better since I discovered this website in February.

Edit- I have used other pheros that have helped this process but my favorite to help me feel in control of myself and my life is androsterone. Even when I am not wearing it, I’ve been able to retrain my thinking so that I don’t fall into the victim mentality.
