Noticed the creators of NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) link to us (the creators of NeuroInfluence [pheromone](https://a314.com/) technology). Innovation has buddies!

You can check it out here:

Pretty darn cool! Thanks Richard… Thanks John! (You’re some of the world’s coolest friends!)

In case you’re not aware, NLP has in some way infilitrated every portion of our lives. It’s used in some way at every business, school, and in almost every modern psychologist’s office, in one way or another. It’s also the basis of numerous offshoots, including Anthony Robbin’s “Personal Power” and “Speed Seduction”, which some pheromone users here may be familiar with.

If you want, visit Richard Bandler & John LaValle’s shop sometime at [nlpstore.com](http://nlpstore.com).

To get your feet wet, I _highly_ recommend Richard’s Personal Enhancement series.

It’s some of the best brain food your head has seen in years. 🙂 I pretty much guarantee that this little CD set will help upgrade your life, and take you great places.

NLP itself is in need of radical reinvention & rediscovery

Having said that, Richard’s CDs and DVDs are an excellent way to start… there are quality control issues with some of their CDs so listen to all of your order through once to make sure all of the tracks play, there are no sudden drop outs, etc.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch… the major problem faced by NLP today is that it has atomized into mini-factions… trainers are going red in the face over who “coined a concept”… and a plethora of rinky dink training Models…😕 … that represent no major advance in the art… which leads me to suspect that John Grinder, whose work, unfortunately is at least as important as Richard Bandler’s and yet very little known…☹ … because there is so little material recorded of JG when he was in his prime, and now he has dropped out (from a deep sense of disgust I sadly believe)… leaving us with only a partial understanding of what NLP is, or should be… yet in some of Richard’s late stage recorded works, now that he is also into High Ritual Magick as our NLP Warlock, an intimation of great nostalgia for the innovative time he had with John…

There are some interesting rumblings out there that Jon Altfeld MIGHT be evolving into one of our next great trainers. if there is going to be a real second or third generation NLP worthy of that name… possibly he and Doug O’Brien will dig around and strike gold one day… soon… I certainly hope so… we need the fresh air…

Tony R. seems to have drunk his own Kool-Aid… although he can be extremely powerful… being physically in his presence and doing his live stuff with the Tony people is strange beyond all description… OTOH he is doing some unique and very useful stuff with people who need all the help they can get…

Then you have guys like Carmine Baffa and Joesph Riggio who occupy their respective fringes of the art… for the life of me I cannot follow what they mean to do with the legacy… please surprise me with something good, please, please…

Then there is the strange ass huckster scene… right out of Snake Oil 101… one day they’re hawking Far Infrared Dildos and the next day it’s Make Women Your Zombies !!! Do things ever change at their core ?..🆒

For $160.00, I feel the description is a little vague. Is this something you passively listen to for behavioral modification, or are there exercises or assingments to do too? I find myself never completing the exercises in those types of programs, though my intentions to do so are sincere to begin with. I think it was the Ultimate Seduction Yahoo group where I learned the term “librarian” to describe someone like me, a collector other than someone who actually does the work.

Also, does this teach the basics of NLP to use in real life, or is it just for behavorial modification of the self.

I’m asking this as I’m at a point in life where I need to reinvent myself, but haven’t a clue of what or how to do it. In the past, self hypnosis and meditation to some extent has helped, but I have reached another plateau in life and need another breakthrough. I’m wondering if this program might give me a push in the right direction.

Funny story, my meditation teacher decided last fall that we should learn currency trading and had someone start an in home course. After a couple of months of teleconferences, it was announced that due to FTC regulations, they could no longer provide the training. I wonder if it wasn’t more like copyright issues as they were teaching from Peter Bain’s Forex course.

What little I learned from the group generated enough interest for me to buy Bain’s course and continue on. Not too successful so far, on my third dummy account and not yet profitable enough to risk real money. At least I seem to lose less money with each account.

Now here’s the funny part, in one of Bain’s daily presentations on his website, I heard him say that it takes from three months to five years to become a successful trader. He then said that he received an email recently from someone who sounded desperate to leave his job and thought that Forex trading would be a quick out. I thought to myself, “I don’t recall ever writing him.” 🙂

Don’t waste your time dreaming of becoming a trader

unless you have excellent connections in the business, and if you did, you wouldn’t be thinking about it now, you would have been working for Goldman Sachs ten years ago,

and/or, you are an exceptional mathematician, good enough to know something that nobody else does, or very few do

and you have ungodly stamina and the desire to work in the ungodly boring world of trading…

believe me, if you were cut out to do this work, you would be working at it a long time ago.

FORGET… the scammers and dreamers who imagine they will one day become great traders. They won’t. They may have a good run for a few months and kid themselves that they have it figured out. They don’t and they never will.

Move on. This currency trading thing is a hoax. Any “get rich thru trading” product or course is TOTAL BULLSHIT. They’ll explain to you that YOU are the exception. Relax, you aren’t. You’re just more fodder for the expensive trading system scam. Dump it now and don’t look back.🆒 🆒 🆒

Thanks for the words of encouragement. :o Actually though, I wasn’t working at it a long time ago because I didn’t know anything like the Forex market existed until just a few months ago.

The Personal Enhancement Series is INSANELY valuable.

You listen to these consciously. They use a form of trance you may not recognize as trance, but it’s extremely effective for something akin to “human installation”.

Richard is the master of installation, and is now acknowledged as the world’s best hypnotist since Milton passed away. Unless you like boring people with 50s-esque ulterior motives, I think you’ll find Richard in almost every way superior to Milton Erickson. (now, Carol Erickson is different - her series is quite good, too)

This series, overall, is worth far more than $160. However, if you feel that is at all expensive, then that’s a good thing. It means you’ll value the material and take it seriously.

The first tape, you’ll listen two maybe once or twice in your life… it merely teaches the very basics of NLP (mostly submodality shifts)… Very 101… but the other 5 are incredibly useful, time and time again.

One helps you to arrange your future on your timeline, so you start to automatically do as you should.

Another installs focus.

Another increases your passion and ferocity. Installs the will of a puma. Rawr!

Yet another deals with deep trance identification, so you can literally take on characteristics of people you admire… be it comedians, artists… anyone you want to model traits of.

A great series indeed, and a wonderful place to start for your reinvention.

I guarantee you’ll love them, or I’ll give you a $160 gift cert for 'em. I have the tapes and want the CDs. Too bad it’s be next to impossible for you to want to give 'em up.🙂

Now, tactitus is right… some of the OTHER older material (NOT the Personal Enhancement Series) has spotty quality. Some of the older live recordings can be pretty bad.

Most of the MODERN live recordings are excellent, though, especially Spiritual Housekeeping, which is incredible.

I think it’s the live recordings after 2000 or so which are good. After John LaValle took over management.

For the basics of NLP, I’d also recommend you find a copy of “Using Your Brain for a Change”. Occasionally, they appear on [half.com](http://half.com) or via [addall.com](http://addall.com)’s used book search for a reasonable price.

It’s entertaining, and brilliant in it’s simplicity and ability to effectively communicate to you the core ideas of NLP.

If you want an easy education in trance, pick up Trance-Formations, also by Richard Bandler.

More reinvention:

Try TAF at high dosages. It’ll suspend your mental filters, keep your RTAS (reticular activating system) on high, and prevent premature closure. It and bnol can be very transforming

Pick up one of these non-nlp books: Undoing Yourself, Shaving the Inside of Your Skull

Learn about submodality manipulation. Once you have the basics of NLP down, pick up the book “An Insider’s Guide to Submodabilities” to further that knowledge. Simple internal representational shifts can create very substantial changes in thought and behavior. It’s surprising.

Carefully watch your nutrition. You can drastically change how you think and feel by altering your diet. Believe it or not, the blood type diet is one of the few that’s NOT just a fad. It seems to actually work well for a little more than 90% of users. The private forum at [dadamo.com](http://dadamo.com) is very active. The Blood Type diet is almost like an “out in the open” secret that works well to enhance your life, much like [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/). Most people who don’t use either don’t believe in them. Most who have tried them.. _do._

Supplements and nootropics can help, too. Try a good choline source before bed, or a simple brain bulding formula such as Ortho-Mind. Over time, you’ll have greater simultaneous access to your memories and a broader “mental easel”, allowing you to make ever more unlikely juxtapositions of thoughts, and therefore ever more creative thought inventions.

Look, I have expert knowledge in this department, both from the trading methodology design and the actual doing of it. Very, very few people have the combination of mindset, professional connections within the industry, sufficient capitalization (could you tell me how much you really need to have in dollars per contract to survive one year of active trading ?) and sheer physical stamina to do this as serious work. That a meditation teacher would suggest this to inexperienced beginners is just incredibly irresponsible and damned stupid, stupid raised to the fourth power.

Well, go for it. Buy them, listen to them frequently. Commit to the process. Go to a couple of good NLP seminars if you can. Get yourself a Photosonix Nova Pro 100 light/sound machine. I use mine in sound only mode, especially the high range and mid range “aerobic jumps” to keep my mind flexible. When I do a 20 minute session of mid range aerobic jumps (randomized frequency hops) my workday is more efficient, definitely more productive and less sticky…

You might also want to look into Stephen Gilligan’s Trance Camp this Summer… a long training of 3 weeks of hypnotic phenomena, the final week is already booked up as it is a hardcore supervision week… Gilligan is supposed to be Erikson’s purest student, he’s definitely subtler than Richard but he can be a steel fist in a velvet glove, and I’ve seen him use that fist… July 6-11 and July 13-18

John LeValle and R.B. are running a DHE seminar in August. Go check with [Purenlp.com](http://Purenlp.com)

Go see Richard live while you can, I don’t think that dude has too many years left on him.

I really don’t want to go into why it was suggested here. And like I said, it will be a long time before I risk any money at the rate I’m going, if ever. Besides, the money I had set aside for a mini account is slowly being siphoned off for dental work right now. Thanks for the input though.

I used to use a Supermind L/S machine, that combined with self-hypnosis was where I made my first break throughs about 12 years ago. (I know about Dane Spotts and the controversy, so please don’t start on that, and I know it’s considered substandard in the L/S community.) But I’ve found the glasses so cumbersumb and have repaired them so many times that once I started meditating, the machine was left behind most of the time. Don’t think I’ve used it in a year or two, I prefer entrainment CDs now. But I do consider getting an advanced machine every once in a while, so thanks for the recommendation. And for the NLP ones too.

Just checked that title at [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com). $50+ for a new copy through their marketplace. The used ones are a bit better, they start at $22. I’m just about sold on the CD set, been considering it all day. Thanks for the summary on that, and the tip on TAF, which I have, and all the others.

Is that , “Undoing Yourself with Energized Meditation and Other Devices,” by Christopher Hyatt? If so, the two editorial reviews featured at Amazon have my attention:

> **Robert Anton Wilson of _Illuminati_ fame**
> “Undoing Yourself is the latest attempt by the Illuminati Conspiracy to reveal all the hither-to-hidden teachings of the Secret Chiefs and allow every man and woman to become a star. With the present conditions of this planet, I think it is necessary that this information be released at this time, and I congratulate the publisher for having the courage to let the cat out of the bag with such a loud meow! Of course, most people will think this book is only a joke. That’s the biggest joke of all!”
>
> **Israel Regardie**
> “I recommend it enthusiastically and without any reservations. It is the answer to the frustration felt by those who have tried other systems and failed. However, I do warn the reader: if you don’t really want to change, don’t take this book seriously.”

It helps to have well formed goals as performance targets

Think of NLP as one of the possible toolboxes for getting what you want. The more specific your target, the better you can design a skill set that attains that target. I think that is why philosophers invest energy into drilling down into concepts like “happiness”, “freedom”, “self-realization”… John Grinder, trained as a linguist, just HATED such fluff words, he always insisted on as much sensory specific information as possible for designing a goal condition… of course, most human potential seminars, charismatic guru types and such thrive of foggy generalities that keep you wondering what the hell ? and coming back for more… Grinder really despised that crap… he sort of fell into the opposite trap of over-concreteness (coupled with his prickly personality that didn’t like being challenged) where ALL abstractions were considered taboo… in his last effort to reform NLP (good effing luck, buddy) all conscious filters, thus all abstractions, were to be stripped away until one entered a primary consciousness state called FA… sort of a preverbal sponge condition… possibly useful now and then but hardly a functional solution to the myriad issues facing a rational actor in the real world of complex decision strategies… but John sloggeth on with his “New Code” that nobody seems to have done much with… 🆒

Too bad there probably isn’t any “lending libraries” out there to check this stuff out first. I don’t know about the rest of you, but when you are on a somewhat fixed and miserable income you have to watch every penny and can’t do much indulging or “taking a chance” on some unknown. Yeah, there are moneyback things, but you have to have the money in the first place to even try it. And there is just so much out there of mixed value, and one has so little time. You need to not only follow/read/study the initial program, but give it time to work. It’s like [pheromone products](https://a314.com/shop/). It can take me months of observation to figure out if something is actually doing something. I doubt any of this will be at my local public library either… they are sooo sad unless it’s a NYT best-seller.

Plus I also have come to find that the Mystery Method handbook is copy protected in such a way it won’t work on any of my computers, and I’m not about to spend big bucks just to read one book and open myself to Evil Incarnate XP O/S. Even some DVD’s won’t work on my system, or on one of my DVD players (thankfully I have two). A friend has even found some DVD’s that only would work on their PS2 or Nintendo system! Wouldn’t play on their genuine Toshiba DVD player! Sheesh…

I even have some audio CD’s that won’t play on my computer, and screw up even on a regular CD player. One set that did work on my computer drive came up with some special playback software included on the disk. Wouldn’t work witht any of the “standard” audio player software.

Final comment:

It would be nice if you all could just make a quick and dirty type summary list of what you recommend, like a bibliography.

And suggestions on where items might be found at good prices… etc.

Man, if I could tell you the money, hours, and aggravation I’ve spent checking things out, how many CDs I’ve chucked straight into the garbage can… the pretentious junk being peddled as secret knowledge… and the weird thing was NONE of this, no matter how trashy, was offered as part of my expensive, time consuming university education, such as it was…

Unfortunately, there is a lot of partial knowledge, partial understanding all broken up like one of those master level jigsaw puzzles, and you’ll be lucky if you get 10% of it put together by the time you’re dead…

Often I’ll take a course of study in some specific detail, work my butt ragged, and feel like I’ve learned nothing, pissed at myself and everybody involved, and six months later find that it has become a useful part of my behavioral toolbox… the brain likes to take its’ time integrating information into the personality structure…

Now what I’ll do is take a good NLP CD… Bandler’s “Time Out Of Your Mind” is a favorite of mine for this, and carry it with me to play in a diskman… I’ll find a quiet place where I can lie down or stay out of the flow of traffic and listen to it, maybe there will only be 10 minutes of time to check in… before I absorb yet newer information… because my brain has a strong anchor to that CD and a maximal learning state…

The point is that you can exploit one thing to position your mind for maximal learning of a second thing…

I wish badly that Richard had made an explicit set of pre-traditional learning CDs, something you would listen to right before coma inducing lectures like David Hume And The Problem Of Essences In 17th Century Thought… right ? As your brain solidifies like a bucket of warm cement…

Then Richard could have made a CD for the assholes who get paid good money to inflict those tedious lectures on us paying customers desperate for our degrees that qualify us to get the good jobs… could you imagine some of those professors, with their ridiculously cushy tenured positions, actually having to inspire anyone ? 🆒

Which is exactly why I wish someone would either have stuff we can look over first before we waste our time and money. Both are in too short a supply. Or at least have some reliable reviews. So many “review” sites I’ve looked at for a variety of products turn out to be little more than sites pushing their “better” product…

Of course part of the problem is like with almost anytning in the world, is that some things work better for some than others. One [pheromone product](https://a314.com/shop/) works great for/on person A but is worthless for person B. One drug works great here, total failure there. One “Guidebook” or whatever works for you, sucks for me… \<sigh\>

And admittedly there is often at least one grain of useful truth in many things. 10% gem, 90% worthless.

But there is almost always some stuff one can out and out call trash no matter what…

Just takes so long wading through it. At least at places like this you can get good info and avoid so much of the garbage…

Well, I took the plunge and bought the Personal Enhancement series last night. Looking forward to listening to them.

The thing about Peter Bain’s Forex comments last night was supposed to be a joke, I think that’s why I took offense to tacitus’ comments. I still intend to follow this through, but am realistic that it won’t be a quick out. I’m looking at it more as a “hobby” for now. And I sure won’t risk the “farm” on anything that’s just a fancy form of gambling.

That said, I am looking for some kind of career change, and a general change in life. I’ve worked for 21 years as an electronic technician for a government contractor. I got jerked around last year during office space wars and just got word Thursday that it’s about to happen again. When my boss told me this, I mentioned that more pay would keep me happy for a year or two, and that it’s been suggested that I talk to the project manager about it. He reinforced my opinion in the matter. Our pay is written into the contract to be whatever wage determination decided it is, and the company isn’t going to take out of profits to pay anything more than that. Funny thing, I seem to have a lot of respect from the coworkers and my immediate boss, I think A314 is to credit, but the high end government supervisors aren’t around me and I’m like a red-headed stepchild to them.

I know, want some cheese with that whine? Anyway, I know I need to make some changes , I just don’t know how, or even what I want to do with myself. I’m hoping that this series might be the kickstart I need to break the inertia I’m feeling.

Thanks everybody for their input on the NLP items.

You want material to open up maximum learning and flexibility

After a long stretch of any specific work your mind will “cut grooves” based on the cognitive patterns of that work… especially as the mind solidifies with age… the trick here is to retain the flexibility (and adaptability) of the youthful mind that can capture and exploit rich sources of new information and make them part of available thinking and behavior.

Your NLP resources will act a the catalyst for change, however you must take the lead and find new sources of knowledge and action… often the stuff we need the most is the least familiar, the least comfortable, least confirms our most Sacred Cow theories about things… a great learning trance will help you hang out in unfamiliar atmospheres, a stranger in a strange land indeed, and absorb what you can process in one sitting…

It will still be hard work, nothing, NLP or otherwise comes free, and the basic law of life always holds, you get what you pay for, in one way or another… think of (good quality, always the distinction, as NLP quality varies all over the map, sometimes it falls right off the map) NLP and related work as teflon spray that makes the gears turn very freely and minimizes internal entropy…😉

Received my CD set tonight, it came in a nice, compact “leatherette” binder." Listened to the first CD before supper, I like it so far. I was smiling through most of the session. Bandler’s delivery reminds me of Barry White. The two voices moving around reminds me of the Paraliminal series, which I like but haven’t seen much change with, but I think I like this better. I also think the music goes well with the delivery of the speech.

The first disc was about 45 minutes long. I was hoping to listen to these before work, but I usually only have about a half hour free in the morning for this type of stuff, so I may end up listening at bedtime. The directions say it’s ok to fall asleep while listening, but this first one was so entertaining that I feel I’ll miss out that way. At least while these are still new to me. Want to listen to another but the directions also recommend one a day.
