Seriously My jaw is really killing me. anyone know if its supposed to hurt for this long when they take a tooth out. I am going to have to call Dr Hotpants in the morning. Its still swelled up and I look like a chipmunk and if I dont take the pain killers I end up in tears. Did Dr. Hotpants give you after care advice? Flushing the area with salt water solution might help. I had all 4 wisdoms extracted at once, the swelling is normal, along with the rainbow of colors your bruising will display. But I donā€™t think severe pain is common you could have formed a dry socket or infection. ---

Oh Jeeze, I didnā€™t think to tell you earlierā€¦youā€™d think the professionals would cover thisā€¦ice packs right after dental work, especially extractionā€¦on twenty minutesā€¦off twenty minutesā€¦really help with swelling. But it sounds as though you may have a complication, as Ink said. Call Dr. Hotpantsā€¦ASAP. Thatā€™s what emergency answering service is for. I also got antibiotics and Vicodin for night and Prescription Motrin for day. As long as I constantly take them on time the pain is just dull but shit if I let them where off its horrible. My hubby was holding a bag of frozen Peas on my face earlier and it helps a little. I have a pretty high threshold for pain to which is why I am worried. When I had my knee surgery which was supposedly worse I didnā€™t take the pain meds but this is just terrible. Good goddess inkling how could you stand having 4 out at once. I would have died. LOL I was in my early 20s, we went out the same night and got plastered. Youth comes with stupidity and self perceived invincibility. šŸ˜ƒ Do you have an odd taste or smell in your mouth? That was what I was warned to watch for that could be infection and dry socket. A dry socket is when the blood clot comes out too early and it can cause pain if food, cold liquid and even air gets in to the extraction site. You also said your roots were wrapped around your jawbone so I would imagine that is a more complicated surgery than just an extraction. Definitely call in as soon as you can, at the very least youā€™ll get to see Dr. Hotpants again. Hope you feel better soon! ---
