The very first response most people will have when they hear about the products available from Androtics Direct is, “Haven’t I heard of this before and isn’t this a scam?”

Thanks to plenty of con artists out there, there is a lot of misinformation surrounding [pheromones](https://a314.com/) and how they work. Even more confounding is the general lack of scientific testing. It is hard to find solid data on the effectiveness of human pheromones.

For people who are familiar with the concept, the first common argument against pheromones is that the “vomeronasal organ,” an olfactory organ which is intended to detect pheromones, has been proven to be inactive. In response to this, I first point to the McClintock Effect, in which women have been shown to synchronize their menstrual cycles from pheromone exposure.[Pheromones, in context](http://www.apa.org/monitor/oct02/pheromones.html) The study is flawed and should be taken with a grain of salt, however, there does appear to be something here.

I could only locate one highly scientific study, proving the effect of androstadienone. [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list\_uids=16242537&dopt=Citation](http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=16242537&dopt=Citation) Here, it was shown that positive mood effects were only undergone when the experimenter was male. This shows the subtlety of pheromones: social context can override the effects. However, in this double-blind study, which is good enough to appear on a government website, it is proven that mood effects do occur with androstadienone exposure.

As it has been proven that androstadienone, a known pheromone, can influence mood, it stands to reason that others can be detected as well.

Since it has been proven that humans are naturally producing pheromones, the real questions are only, “Can we detect these?” and “Do these influence behavior?”

A study performed showed that lesbians respond differently to human pheromones. [http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/05/060508\_lesbian.html](http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/05/060508_lesbian.html) More proof that a brain response occurs when exposed to pheromones, making it seem unlikely that we simply cannot detect them, as some claim. “This lends further support to the idea that the chemicals activate the brain differently from common odors.”

Another short article, [First Evidence of a Human Response to Pheromones: Scientific American](http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=first-evidence-of-a-human&sc=I100322) discusses a Swedish hospital that was able to detect a pheromone response in humans.

Another article appearing on the medical government website, [Male-to-female transsexuals show sex-atypical hypo…[Cereb Cortex. 2008] - PubMed Result](http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=18056697&ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum) shows that when smelling androstadienone, male-to-female transsexuals have a different hypothalamic response. Though not highly persuasive in of itself, this does continue to show that (a) different genders interpret pheromones differently and (b) there is a provable effect of pheromones on the brain.

This article, [Subliminal smells can guide social preferences. [Psychol Sci. 2007] - PubMed Result](http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18031410?ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum) shows that when subjects were unable to consciously perceive a smell given to them, they rated faces as more likable than when they smelled the same one and were consciously able to perceive it. More proof that social influence can disrupt pheromone effects. In other words, it does exist, but it is very subtle.

Finally, I’d like to point to this article, which suggests that the aforementioned vomeronasal organ might not even be in charge of interpreting pheromones. [Are pheromones detected through the main olfactory…[Mol Neurobiol. 2007] - PubMed Result](http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=retrieve&db=pubmed&list_uids=17917120&dopt=AbstractPlus)

So, after all of this, what do I believe? Well, I am fairly confident in the ability of pheromones to affect people, albeit on a deeply subtle level.

If this post has helped anybody at all, please let me know, and I will write more. There is plenty of good information out there, which I am happy to sift through and package into more easily-read posts.

That’s really interesting. To me, pheromones seem like an “underground” type of thing that nobody really knows about. It seems that our amount of reporting done on this forum vastly outnumbers the “official” tests by scientists. Personally, I am still waiting for Androtics to release the long-awaited “Pheromone Vitamins.” =D

P.S. Thouldn’t this be in Studies and Abstracts or Pheromone Theory?

??? [Pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/) Vitamins? THIS I’ve got to find out about.

Eh, probably, but then I wouldn’t have found it!😃

It’s been proven that scent is the strongest trigger for memories, therefore, we process more with our noses than we think. Look at the multi-billion dollar aromatherapy business. Now, personally, I’ve never found Lavender relaxing, honestly most lavender candles reek to me, but others, like vanilla, do enhance my mood.

Remember, there was a time when scientists truly believed the sun revolved around the earth.

Haha I saw the PheroMins in a dream. The way I saw it, they make you produce more natural pheromones (have I possibly touched upon something? haha)

That’s why I posted it here. I definitely did it out of the goodness of my heart, certainly not because I’d like rep points or possibly a GC down the road for my efforts …

I would think that even if there was a vitamin which made us produce more natural pheros, we’d still continue to inhibit them by applying deodorants, scented lotions etc.

If I could point out, guys, that pheromones are caused as a metabolization of testosterone. I thought the “pheromone vitamin” thing was a joke, though, apparently some people are taking it seriously.

Your natural pheromone levels are dependent on how much testosterone you have. Increase that and you increase your pheromones.

I always tell people interested in pheromones the same thing…a “togo” bottle of Ammo is like $12. That’s for enough to spend several weeks testing it out and make up your own mind.

There’s where that $25 GC helps out.

Well, to save you any undue grief, if some inconsiderate boob tortures you with any GC, I would be willing to shoulder your burden and take them.😃

My personal thoughts on the pheromone issue are that, since humans are thinking, social creatures and conditioned to appreciate appearance as a main feature of attraction, pheromones will always come in 2nd to things such as being naturally attractive or being a “bad boy” or being in good shape.

From what I can tell, with the exception of a few notable posters, most people on this board who consistently get successful hits are thin, have all their hair and don’t have any major deformities. However they may be introverted or otherwise socially challenged and this is where pheromones come into play. They breach that gap and allow these people more success with their pheromone-related objectives.

Of course this may just be the skeptic or the cynic in me speaking. I’m sure the question will be answered more definitively sometime within the next few years. This board is a great resource of information and I have no doubt that it will play a big part in finding the answer.

Of course, popsecret. If pheromones were anything more than very subtle, we would know more about them by now. The best example of how societal pressure and attraction always come first is a study I quoted in which women only responded to androstedione when it was being given to them in the presence of male.
