Has anyone had experience with this company:
[Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab: Potions, Perfumes, and Esoteric Brews](http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/) ?

They have an awesome forum full of reviews as well: [BPAL Madness! (Powered by Invision Power Board)](http://www.bpal.org/)

The category of products that especially interests me is the ‘magickal’ arm of BPAL which is called ‘Twilight Alchemy Lab’ and seems to have oils made for specific purposes in mind (rather like pheromones 🙂 ).

Twilight Alchemy Lab products include, for example, ‘Lord of the Forest’: ‘A men’s virility and sexual domination blend’. Reviews of this product seem to be very good: [Lord of the Forest - BPAL Madness!](http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=13023)

Ehm, do you actually know what kind of a scent civit is?

Maybe you oughta do some research first, before you go out and buy this ‘Lord of the Forrest’ stuff…

**Civet**
Civet is one of the most important animal materials used for perfume. It is taken from a pouch under the tails of male and female civet cats. Civet has a very strong smell, but is diluted and used in minute quantities. The scent is similar to musk, but has a more smoky, sweaty aroma. It is an excellent fixative, and used in many top-quality perfumes today. Civet is available in artificial substitutes.

Yeah sure, in any reasonable amount it’s great. But after reading the reviews of this stuff I get the impression that after a while the only thing that people smell is the civet, and that is NOT a good thing, imo.

I don’t know about civet, but I _do_ know that Elizabeth at BPAL makes absolutely heavenly perfume oils! Consider me an addict. I won’t deny my guilt. 😃

She does make her oils with specific puposes in mind - SOMETIMES. It depends on what line the fragrance is in. Twilight Alchemy Labs, its sister site, have purpose-oriented perfumes - those are the ones you might want to look into, since their reviews on the forums have verified that they do indeed accomplish what they’re said to. 🙂

Hope I was of some help.

Very interesting! The Twilight labs stuff is neat, and I will look into this! It has been a long time since I did rituals, but I have always wanted to do it again. I am interested in Cleo May, for prostitutes who want to increase their clientele. Hopefully it works for escorts too!

Another good one for the males may be ‘Master’: ‘A men’s confidence and good fortune blend. Use to increase personal power and material wealth, and inspires assertiveness and self-assurance.’

Reviews for this one seem good: [Master - BPAL Madness!](http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=22020)

And another good review:
[naamah\_darling: Twilight Alchemy Lab Reviews I](http://naamah-darling.livejournal.com/230262.html)

**Master** , TAL description: _“A men’s confidence and good fortune blend. Use to increase personal power and material wealth, and inspires assertiveness and self-assurance.”_

Musk and eucalyptus, fresh pine boughs and woodsy greenery. This is outdoorsy, male, and quite assertive.

**September 9, 2006:**

First try, on Sargon. On, it smells super-masculine but fresh and pleasant. Not cologne-y, very BPAL-y. And very, very sexy. The initial rush is less eucalyptus (I had feared it would reek of camphor) and more generally woodsy, and there is a strong, strong slap of some unusual animal note in there. Civet? Satyr musk? It’s sexy as hell. Vigorous. _Potent._

Biteable.

Does it work? I, uhh, guess there’s no proof like a bright red ass. Put _that_ on your postcards!

**September 13, 2006:**

I’ve almost recovered from the last test of Master. Sargon tried it at a job interview, which went well. He didn’t get the job. Actually, he didn’t take the job.

Maybe he’s the one who needs the beating.

**September 23, 2006:**

Ten days straight of anointing him with Master every morning. My ass may never be the same.

Just kidding. I’m used to it by now. And he doesn’t really whup me. But it is an irresistible cologne in its own right, and getting naughty always seems like a priority when he’s wearing it. A priority for me, not for him. What? It’s a sexy smell.

At any rate, he didn’t take that job. But he got his current job to cough up what he wanted. I think that counts as taking charge.

**September 26, 2006:**

Of course I’m going to try it on myself.

I’m a chickenshit. I had to put this on to psyche myself up to get my hair dyed. I wanted something manly so that I could sit in the chair with tinfoil cheese on my head and think about Steven Strait. Also, I’m not girly, so I knew I’d feel dumb getting my hair done. But I was all brave and crap. Like a sea of chilly braveitude.

The smell did not go so well with the lavender and mint scented hair gunk. But it did make me feel butch enough to have Sargon take some really awesome pictures. So we all win.

**Verdict:** Killer stuff. Works as a personal scent very well, but is also very effective.

Yea you may be right about that but from all a lot of the reviews on there, it seems that their Civet is not particularly funky smelling - may be to do with people’s individual skin chemistries though. Plus even if it stinks a little after a while, there may still be good [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/)-like effects. Look at NPA/TE - they definitely stink but have powerful pheromone effects. A little animalistic ‘stink’ may be useful in some situations.

I am thinking a good masculine blend like ‘Master’ or ‘Lord of the Forest’ may be a good match with a ‘weaker male phero’ mix such as Alpha and Beta-Nols with TAA and a little A314. It might be far better in social situations than adding say Androstenone.

Another one that caught my eye is a BPAL scent called ‘O’: ‘The scent of sexual obsession, slavery to sensual pleasure, and the undercurrent of innocence defiled utterly. Amber and honey with a touch of Vanilla.’

It does not sound very masculine but a few of the reviews caught my eye. For example: [O - BPAL Madness!](http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=521)
Ms.MsGirl: ‘…This scent is PURE SEX on its own or layered with virtually any floral or fruity fragrance – it’s just an undertone of pure sex. I almost expect the oil itself to be sticky like honey, it has a sticky smell – someone else was right, it’s almost the exact smell of sweaty sticky bodies entwined after the sweetest sex imaginable. It smells like I WISH my skin smelled…’

Another good review site for BPAL is [http://makeupalley.com/product/searching.asp?x=y&CategoryID=0&brandname=&brand=1360&title=&GO.x=11&GO.y=14](http://makeupalley.com/product/searching.asp?x=y&CategoryID=0&brandname=&brand=1360&title=&GO.x=11&GO.y=14)

Hey RON or Alseides, is there any guide for learning ‘rituals’ in order to get the Twilight Alchemy Lab stuff to work properly? I have got no clue in this area. Ail would have been a good one for this if she was still around (being a practicing witch).

From BPAL faq at [Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Perfume Oils: FAQ](http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/faq.html)

“Our ‘civet’ and ‘ambergris’ are bouquets, and thus, are composite scents created from plant-derived perfume oils combined to best aproximate the scent.”

Ah ok, thats different.

I got confused because so many reviewers mentioned a strong “civit smell”, not knowing that what they actually meant was BPAL’s version of a civit-like substance.

Real civit you can’t stand on your body, trust me, not unless it’s very diluted so you don’t consiously smell it.

The role of civit in some perfume formula’s is similar to that of salt in applepie, if you ever tasted an applepie without any salt you know exactely what I mean. 😃

I think they should work without knowing rituals, but for better chances of success I would look up ritual spells and/or follow the instructions it comes with.

From the report below, ‘Blinding Glory of Love’ sounds very interesting indeed: “A potent and passionately exciting love oil. Rub onto your hands before meeting a potential mate. Brings out sexual desire as well as romantic inclinations in those you encounter. Use with caution as this blend brings out amorous reactions without discretion.”

" **Blinding Glory of Love:** I bought this specifically for my arrival and made sure to pack it in my carry-on bag. As the plane taxied and came to a stop, I held the imp and spent a few moments visualising a loving reunion with my partner, then poured some of the oil into my palms. A delicious, heady scent rose from my hands, a red musk with a certain sweetness and just a hint of mint. The fragrance alone calmed me and made me feel more confident and open.

When I got to the Customs station, the agent started his questions with the usual brusqueness, but suddenly became a lot more animated and had a small, interesting chat with me regarding my occupation. It was the first genuinely human interaction I’ve ever experienced during the customs questioning! Then, I went into the next room to hand my card to the officials there, and I was grinning ear-to-ear, so excited to have finally arrived.

They stopped me and asked jokingly what I was smiling about. I explained that I was returning to Canada for the first time in a year, and I was excited to be back. They jested back that they thought I was happy to see _them_ - so I told them that meeting them was the highlight of my trip already, took a bow, and walked through the doors with all of us laughing. Again, real and kind interaction!

Then I was there, and in my companion’s arms, and it was like something out of a Hollywood 50s movie, the Sweet and Tender Reunion With Emotional Music in the Background, except without the orchestra. He immediately took my hand, and we walked out into the evening. Though he’s always attentive and affectionate, our interaction for the rest of the night was particularly warm and loving.

**I used the oil again a few days later to evoke that same mood, but skipped the visualisation because we were in a hurry to leave the house. While walking around by myself later that day, two young women, who were walking together, stopped and introduced themselves to me…then propositioned me, inviting me to “do whatever I wanted” with them. Beware the Blinding Glory - amorous reactions _without discretion_ indeed!**

Overall, this is a wonderful oil, and one that seems best used privately and with concentration - unless you want to be propositioned by total strangers, in which case, buy a bottle. 😛 I don’t see my partner enough to merit a bottle purchase (_sniffle_), but I’m definitely holding on to my imp!"

I’ve ordered samples from them and really liked only 1 (Snake Oil) out of about 10 I tried. I also ordered a full bottle of one scent that arrived smelling not even half as strong as the sample did. They have historically been very, very backlogged and orders took a minimum of 6 weeks to arrive … I don’t know the current status on that problem. Many of their offerings are limited editions, so by the time you get your sample, you can no longer order the full size. For that reason, many BPAL aficionados simply order every full-size limited edition that sounds good, without bothering to sample first. However, you can always (and I mean without _ **any** _ problem) sell even half-full samples (which they call imps) or bottles on ebay. Mine sold in 10 minutes! There are a lot of BPAL addicts out there. (I am not one of them …)

nbully, I wonder if you were looking at the BPAL forum when you couldn’t find where to order … try looking at the store instead:

Carrie, I couldn’t find the oil “blinding glory of love” from a search on their website. I found it however from a google search at [www.twilightalchemylab.com](http://www.twilightalchemylab.com)

I don’t know if they are the same, but I couldn’t find a way to order at the second website. It says it accepts paypal, but how will it know which product I intend to buy. Maybe I am missing something here.

I’m sorry, nbully, I didn’t realize it was a separate website - although it seems to be the same perfumer, and I can’t quite figure out why she’d want to separate the two, since all her stuff is magikal in intent as far as I can see.

I assume from the [Twilight Alchemy Lab](http://twilightalchemylab.com/) site that you would have to send a paypal payment (doing the math for shipping yourself) and include your order details in the little box paypal provides for notes. If you’re not sure, you could always send an email to the address they provide for “questions only” (as opposed to the email for paypal payments) … they sure make it complicated, don’t they? Seems like it would have been simpler to just list these scents on the main BPAL site, with its shopping cart … but maybe it’s actually someone else’s project, not Beth’s, so they’re keeping all the books separate.

did you end up ordering these Twilight Alchemy Lab oils? I would be interested to hear of your results. Also how is the LesNez fragrance going (‘The Unicorn Spell’) - still giving you pheromone-like results?

Hi Visionary, ‘The unicorn spell’ is working great. These day I just use it once a week as I don’t like the smell much. I would like to see more people try it, though. I found a place where there are decants available for cheap [LesNEZ](http://fragrantfripperies.com/store/page41.html)
Let me know if you try it too.

I sent an email to Forest at the Alchemy labs and got a response recently.
For attraction she suggested two other blends called Godfire and Charisma. I will probably still go with Blinding glory, but am waiting for my paypal account to be approved before I place an order.

> Hi Visionary, ‘The unicorn spell’ is working great. These day I just use it once a week as I don’t like the smell much. I would like to see more people try it, though. I found a place where there are decants available for cheap [LesNEZ](http://fragrantfripperies.com/store/page41.html)

Nbully,

‘Blinding Glory of Love’ sounds almost NPA-like in results (see what I posted above and pasted below -‘Sexual hits’ alright). I will be very interested in hearing how you go with that one!
( **Whitephoenix: “While walking around by myself later that day, two young women, who were walking together, stopped and introduced themselves to me…then propositioned me, inviting me to “do whatever I wanted” with them. Beware the Blinding Glory - amorous reactions _without discretion_ indeed!”;**
**Magda: “yea i had some strange ppl want to um play with me when i did not focus hard enough.”)**

Interesting that LesNez’ ‘The Unicorn Spell’ is working so well for you. I saw that it got pretty ordinary reviews on Basenotes but I guess that was just in regards to the fragrance and not any pheromonal results.

toiloftoday keep us updated on Villain and anything else you get from that company!
