Kind of a random/strange question, I know. But, in a way, it does tie into some of the social/dating topics that people have discussed here in the past.

So.

You meet someone at an event. You offer them your services. They say, “Great. Call me.”

Taking into consideration that this person probably talks to literally hundreds of other people a day, how much time should you wait (or not wait) to make that follow-up call?

I’ve heard everywhere from "no later than 48 hours, because the emotional connection that was forged upon their initial meeting with you will dissipate rapidly as the days pass " to “one week, to communicate that you’ve got a lot more on your mind than them.” Where do you think the truth lies? What do you feel are the thresholds for “too soon” and “too late?”

Yes, there is a specific reason I’m asking. Any thoughts appreciated!

Next day.

A lot can happen in the world of business. You need to get the sale NOW - while you still can, ESPECIALLY in this economy.

When you’re employing someone to do work for you - you want the work done ASAP. And calling the next day reassures them that you are thinking of them.

If you call in a week - it can come off as a bit slack. Or they could have employed someone else throughout that time.

You’re not flirting with a girl - you’re doing business. Things go MUCH faster and making the other person anxious is not what you want to do.

Hope that helps!

Interesting. Thanks, guys.

Now, what if the project is my idea and not theirs? Same answer?

The sooner you respond - the more important your project will seem.

If you respond later - you’ll be telling them “This project is ok. I’m a bit 'laxed about it. So if you don’t have time to do it - you can do it later. Or not. It’s meh. Up to you, I guess…”

If you respond soon - you’ll be telling them “This project is happening. I’m taking the initiative and making it happen. I’m reliable and eager to get this on it’s feet. You want to be a part of this project because I can make it successful.”

So yes, same answer. If you’re heading up the project - even more so. You want to be a leader they can rely on.

When you order your 'mones - do you want them to be sent out as soon as possible, or do you want for them to wait it out a bit and send it in their own time when they feel like it?

The world of business moves fast. So stay on your toes and react quickly. Before opportunity goes away. You don’t want to keep people waiting.
