I have a product from a manufacturer which is quite unheard of. I find this product works amazingly well. Unfortunately, this product has been discontinued.

I’m wondering if Androtics can determine what’s in it if I send a sample. Then they can maybe emulate a similar product.

I suspect it’s a Androstenone / Androstenol / Androsterone product… but what ratio?

i remember stone labs reverse engineered the secret ingredient in the Edge/NPA with little effort when it first came out. they just can’t use it due to the copyright.

im sure Androtics could do the same with ur product but the same infringement issue is still there. 🙂

[Pheromone products](https://a314.com/shop/) can’t be copyrighted 🙂 They can be patented, but not copyrighted. And I don’t think they registered for any patent.

Beisdes, they have been discontinued…

Reverse engineering takes too much time and expense for us. We’re more interested in pushing forward with new putatives and exploring uncharted pheromonal territory.

That’s not to say we’re not game for new mixes! In fact, we want more of you to get on the putative train and start creating new mixes to play with!

Btw - PM me the info of the product and I’ll see what I can dig up about it. If it’s a mix of any of the “Big 3” [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/) (Androsterone/none/nol), I have some users here who are pretty nifty at feeling out particular notes and ratios. (Not to say they’re perfect, but they can give a ballpark guesstimate)

Just my guess.

No, the “unheard of” one.

By the way, copyright is for written stuff (books, music, movies etc), patented is for invented “stuff” (cars, trains, drugs, hula hoops etc.).

Can’t a chemlab run an analysis to determine components and ratios? It’s daily fare in crime lads so it can’t be that hard. If the product uses off the self chemset mones it would be easy for you to recreate the mix.

Thing is, they need to know what roughly they are looking for. Also, they need to have the right method, equipments and database. If the product contains only common mones, they probably can, with reasonable ease. But, if it has a putative or proprietary component, things may be more curvely if not impossible.

CSI makes things look so easy.

From what I understand you can “copyright” something simply by adding the line “copyright 2007 by (name).” I have an author friend that says this is good enough, but a full formal “registered copyright” carries far more legal strength (at least int he USofA). (There is a difference between a “plain” copyright and a “registered” copyright.)

A patent is awarded by goverment agency, and must pass review (be unique, “original,” and be something that _can_ be patented). You have to apply, have it researched (and pay $$$$$), and the patent will be published and available for anyone to buy a copy of. Some inventors prefer NOT to patent an item, as that way they can keep the workings (supposedly) secret. Once patented, anybody can see how it’s done. There is a difference between getting something patented, and getting someone to pay to produce it. Once an idea is patented and available, someone else can “improve” it enough (or take a different route to the same type of end product) to get it made themseves and cut the original “inventor” out of the picture entirely.

If someone copies your “copyrighted” material you can sue, but it’s a harder fight than a patent as it can be just your word against theirs. A patent is documented.

And yes copyrights are for things like printed word, photographes, etc. (representations of ideas, art, etc) where as patents are for “things.” At least that’s the way I understand it.
