When I use IH at work with this certain lady friend of mine she tends to get a little nervous around me. I thought IH help with having a deep bond and making a woman comfortable with you. When we talk we get in real deep conversations. They are so deep that it seem like she is trying to hold back on what she is saying. Is there a such a thing as being too comfortable with a person that they become nervous? Or a person thinks that you are a human lie detector, discerning if someone is telling the truth or not? Can honesty cause someone to be nervous around you?

Possibly but its not common for it to do this. It could be that it has increased her interest in you and that feeling is making her nervous. Maybe she is just a nervous person around people she starts to feel a connection with. For a good 90% of the people exposed they will just get the signal and go with the flow. Some people are just more difficult then others.

It could be the beta-nols in IH. It’s roughly 70% of the contents and whilst they work wonders for most people, in others it does the opposite. I’m very sensitive to beta-nols and don’t do well with mixes high in beta. It’s almost like beta-nol works too well on me because it makes me very emotional…to the point where I feel very uncomfortable, weak & vulnerable and I don’t like feeling like that around people so I’m sure I give off nervous & avoidant vibe when I do.

It may be that she is also very sensitive to beta-nols, or it may be like Tisha said that she’s just a nervous person 🙂

From a psychological standpoint, I would think of it this way. Many harbor thoughts they are afraid of voicing, for fear of persecution, or their own levels of comfort. From there I could pose the idea that one might find conflict between the urge to share, and the desire to keep secret.

Also, I have been doing a bit of journal reading, and could come up with one neurological theory for this reaction with IH. And, it would not be something I would suspect in this case.

Of course it supposes that the -nol version used is the 5alpha reduced neurosteroid. As one study has suggested (1) androstenol as a positive modulator of GABAA receptors. Now suppose that -nol, a [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/), is biphasic. In that too low of a stimulation can induce a negative change (anxiogenic as compared to anxiolytic). Where as just right would be anxiolytic (high can have negative consequences as well). We see this with many drugs systemically. One could suppose then as time goes on, and strength fades there is switch from relaxing to either minor levels of withdrawal, or negative stimulation

(1) The pheromone androstenol (5 alpha-androst-16-en-3 alpha-ol) is a neurosteroid positive modulator of GABAA receptors.
