A friend of mine said, his wife spotted their 6 year old daughter sniffing one of his shirts. When she asked why she was doing that, the daughter replied that she just wanted to remember how her father smelled like.

Can children this young be influenced by their fathers [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/)?

I have read somewhere many years back that women were likely to marry men that smelled or reminded them of their fathers, this was they stated becuase the comfort provided by fathers to children is sought when women seek relationships when they are older, one of the examples quoted which is unrelated to smell was women how had abusive fathers were more likely to end up with abusive partners.

There has been some work done indicating that women choose partners with major histocompatibility complex different from their own, and thus presumably different from their father’s. If smell is a factor in making the choice, that would indicate that women might prefer at least some differences from their father’s smell.
