On occasion, I go absolutely nuts over colognes. I’m sure many of you do.

As I’ve been discussing with some of the guys via PM, what I’d like to offer for a bit are some decants (small sizes) of famous colognes… the real stuff… with the possibility of adding small amounts of [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/) to them.

Just give me a list here, and I’ll start obtaining them.

I was especially thinking of some of the higher end colognes that everyone wants to try, but few want to take risks on, because they’re so difficult to smell locally.

The hard to find, yet well worth smelling brands are numerous… Creed, L’Artisan, Diptique, Clive Christian, Montale. There’s also new fragrance houses brought up by some of our wonderful users, such as Escentric Molecules mentioned by “Tacitus”.

It could be normal department store fragrances, too. Sometimes it’s just more fun to get 6 or 7 spray bottles of different fragrances, than it is to buy 1. That’s what decants allow you to do – try a whole bunch for the price of one.

Just name what you want, I’ll do my best to source it and offer a decant here at reasonable cost. Again, with the possibility of adding pheromones, too, right inside the bottle.

I’d opt for plain decants to try by themselves as a baseline, and add my own phero mixes as I go.

I just discovered one of the only perfume/cologne stores in my area seems to have closed up! Or they may have moved but not sure yet. \<sigh\> But of course they wanted you to buy the big bottles, and the “samples” were only on paper cards for test sniffs so you never really got to do a real “field test” (actually wearing the stuff).

Then again I’m not a big cologne wearer. And the cover scents in many [pheromone products](https://a314.com/shop/) already pretty much cover the subject (me).

It’s sad living in this area… go to the wine store for Beerenauslese and all they carry is Ripple… In cartons…

We’ll probably offer 'em both ways then.

The reasoning behind allowing you to have us add pheromones, is that it can be difficult to do on your own.

Winifred Cutler includes a little funnel with Athena, which is a good idea on the surface, but what good does it really do when you need to crack open or even drill the bottle first?

Most colognes and perfumes these days are just not easy to open.

Sorry to hear about the shop closing.

I find those little papers to be useless. Usually the best way to test is to self apply a few at a perfume store, then take a 15 minute walk.

It might not be ideal in terms of what the salesperson wants, but it’s certainly best for _you_. Most scents will change considerably on your skin over that time period.

It’s impossible to instantly decide on anything but the simplest of scents.

Ripple’s… believe it or not! 🙂 (I haven’t even heard of Ripple, honestly – I’ve seen “Boone Farm”, though, which may be similar)

I think you’d do well to carry the popular scents like Cool Water, as well as some high end scents. I can only imagine the results of Cool Water mixed with Liquid Lust… A lot of girls and women say that Drakkar Noir also gets them going. I suggest offering them by themselves and with custom or pre-mixed pheromones. I am not a big cologne user, but I know how sensual a good scent can be to a woman. I would also love to be able to try some higher end scents, as you say, without breaking the bank.

Very nice selections of fragrances. Sampler/decant sizes are much appreciated. BTW, have anyone sampled Geir & Amouage Dia (male fragrances)?

Not forgetting high quality oils (not the adulterated ones so commonly found). Good oil choices aloeswood, oud, rose, jasmine, vanilla etc. Absolute oils & CO2 extracts preferred 😃

Very little oil is required to cover application spots. A small volume (1-2ml) will last a long time & won’t get spoilt. The concentrations can be cut by wearer themselves.

Personally, I had bought 12 bottles of department store fragrances (Ralph Lauren, CK, Drakkar etc) but I’m starting to feel it’s not worth the investment, especially after trying quality oils to cover the mones. I probably couldn’t finish the colognes before they expire & degrade.

Another two cents worth:

I know I’d go for the more hard-to-find products, not necessarily the most expensive, but the rarer more unique ones (like Dr. Smell This’ Pheros, sort of a “micro-perfumery” product, like a micro-brewery sort of thing). Cool Water I can get in a mini-bottle at the drug stores in town. Green Irish Tweed is another matter entirely! If I’m going to use a cologne product I might as well be unique or “uncommon” about it too.

Also: I might suggest offering the decants in plain non-spray bottles to cut the overall costs. After all I can just “re-decant” into one of my own atomizers or spare Androtics blue spray bottles. Make the spray bottles an option, or just suggest buyers of the decants pick up some of your empty spray bottles from the supplies section of the store.

I can see if you offer a [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/) option with the decants to compute the mix based on one of your cobalt spray bottles for “dosing” purposes.

And maybe one of these days you’ll finally find some worthy decent looking good commercial pocket/purse atomizers you could offer that you coud “dose to” as well.

Okay, so that’s 6 cents worth…

My Summer Cover Scents 🙂🙂🙂

🙂 M.Harris I really like your creativity and your interest in producing a better quality product.

First. All perfumes lose their potency fairly quickly, so my rule of thumb is to buy the smallest size sold so I can use it while it has full aromatic qualities. (I can’t tell you how many old bottles of cologne I have laying around because I didn’t finish them.)

I really like your combination of Neroli and Orange,I think its a great expensive type of fragrance by itself. But its always nice to have some variety so…

1 Sean Jean tried and true the babes love it.
2 Ck One Summer a great summer fun fragrance
3 Tommy Bahama sun & surf like the beach
4 Armani Black for more formal evening occasions
5 Vera Wang for men always great
6 ODeur 53 Comme des Garcons he perfect accent for any

Wow, I just found this new section. I’m all for decants. I’ve bought decants of Creed’s Green Irish Tweed and Himalaya off of eBay, which I’m being stingy with. When I need to replentish my supply of them I’d be happy to buy them here.

Another one that comes to mind immediately is one I’ve just recently heard of, Cannabis Santal by Fresh. The name and description have my curiosity up. I’m tempted to buy a decant of this from eBay. I’m wary of this one though as where I work, I don’t want to smell like dope. I’m also concerned with wearing this while traveling. There are several Border Patrol checkpoints between Phoenix and San Diego. I can imagine someone wearing this stuff driving up to one and getting searched because the agent smelled the cologne and thought it was pot. So there’s no way I would spring for a full bottle of the stuff until I at least had a decant first to see if it was “work safe.”

The eBay decants I bought came in cheap plastic atomizers. They seem sturdy enough but nothing I’d want to carry around in a pants pocket. They are adequate in my opinion though to keep costs down, though I also like the option of getting the decant in a regular bottle to pour into my own atomizer.

I really like the concept of decants to try high end colognes. In fact, it was something I was thinking of selling myself. Sell just enough of the stash to make your money back and keep the remainder for yourself, if desired. Wait, that sounds like what I’ve heard some people do with real Cannabis. :o 😃

Another good thing about decants is if the one year shelf life of colognes that I’ve heard is true, it doesn’t make sense to buy a large bottle that will take several years to use up. Though with the sealed bottles they use these days, I wonder if that is really an issue now.

I also like the option of having the mones added before shipping.

Cannabis Santal by Fresh is incredible. Doesn’t really smell like cannabis whatsoever. I’ll see if I can get it.

Ok, here’s what we’ve gotten in so far:

**–\> Green Irish Tweed by Creed**

This is what lesser colognes such as _Cool Water_ and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ _Unforgivable_ are based on, in part.

Creed colognes average something like $150 at department store fragrance counters.

Green Irish Tweed (GIT) smells absolutely delicious… the only downside to Creeds are their longevity. They simply don’t last long enough. But for the time they do last — oooh!

It’s well worth picking up a decant of this.

**–\> Musc Ravageur from Federic Malle, from France – highly exclusive**

Another one you shuold definitely pick up a decant of. Supposedly one of the sexiest fragrances ever. Unisex (even though it’s “all sex”!)

This one costs almost $200, and is kept refrigerated by their dealers

It took us a long time to figure out how to even get this – no one seemed to carry it, except their store in France.

Interestingly, our own, upcoming fragrance after dry down smells surprisingly like Musc Ravageur after dry down. (Again, that’s _after_ dry down – our top notes differ)

You’ll just have to compare for yourself.

Honestly, the similarity actually makes me _tremendously_ excited about our upcoming release, considering how well Musc Ravageur reviews!

**–\> By by Dolce & Gabanna**

Another fragrance considered by some to be “all sex”

Unfortunately, while the fragrance is nice, I feel fatigued when smelling this directly – almost as if it had a “tired pheromone”. (sadly, most fragrance houses don’t catalog the psychological effects of the individual aroma chemicals they use)

I don’t know if this will affect any of you the same way, but I would advise wearing on the wrists, and not on the chest, neck, behind the ears, or otherwise near your own nose.

**–\> Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier**

When you want a loud, yet tasty, smell for a club this is a good one.

A good number of _male_ fragrance connoisseurs claim not to like this one, but most women love it.

MEN in the US wear Musc Ravageur? Seriously?

Wow..SO not over here. Maurice Roucel for FM created it for us ladies - you steal enough of our perfumes as it is, you lot! \>\_\<

I am really glad then that I am over here, as this is one of MY signature fragrances, and I would NOT like a man to be wearing it, when I was.

You know, that’s really odd. “The Man” loves Musc Ravageur on me, but I once said to him that the notes meant he could wear it too, and he said no way.

This has fairly opened my eyes, and with over 200 fine fragrances in my specially-built cupboard, I am definitely what could be termed a Fragrance Gourmande.

Hmm..in this case, some of you guys should try Must De Cartier, Luctor Et Emergo POTL (People Of The Labyrinths), Lorenzo Villoresi Musk, L’Artisan’s Mechant Loup - and any number of Serge Lutens fragrances.

Ail 🙂

Your really have to smell the Amouage line they smell a bit floral when you first put them on but after about 15 minutes it definitely a manly smell.

One of the reviews there is simply the best. It’s by someone called Paul G. at the forum. I am sure you have read that…but I would like to reproduce with due credits to him,for others to read who are too lazy to click that link 🙂 . It goes like this:

where to start with this gem. good god, this scent is superb. it’s sex in your face. it starts off with a note reminiscent of the monkey house at the zoo. don’t plan on spraying this scent less than 20 minutes before you come in contact with anyone because the top notes are horrid. however, when it settles, it’s brilliant. sexy, rich musk that is sweet and sexy and a mindblower. the complexity of this scent and the drydown make the horrid top notes worth suffering through. not for everyone, but this scent packs a wallop.

it starts off with a note reminiscent of the monkey house at the zoo…😃
How cool is that? I don’t want no run of the mill, so-called fresh, citrusy, synthetic, gone in a second, unimaginative colognes. 🙂 I want complexity, layers, growth, risk all mixed into one. I want colognes which some people hate as much as some others like…I want to offend some people dammit… shake them out of their comfortable zombified stupor-like existence 😮

Here are some more reviews from basenotes community for MKK:

the beast that is serge lutens mkk a blast of animalistic me so horny top notes blend into a superb snake hipped pimp of a musk which says i’m the one for you spa to me through a mega phone.the dry down calms things down a bit although i think even then it will frighten anybody who has cut their teeth on the curve ,aqua di gio route to death

MKK is in your face, animalic, and downright stinky, funky, animals in a cage at the zoo musk. This is the smell of the invading tribe from the perspective of the ones being invaded - harsh, intense, potent, animalic. As someone said earlier in this thread, it’s almost more a piece of art than a usable fragrance.

it is the kind of scent at first that would make you want to quarantine yourself from other human beings for the first half hour after which it might be safe to go out.

This is a top 10er for me as it’s a “i’m on the prowl tonight” scent. The top notes are abhorrent. They’re truly awful reminding me of the smell of the Meircats zone in a zoo. Strong stuff and not for the faint of heart. However once it dries down it becomes the sexiest scent on the market. Superb stuff. As Ladylonestar said, “it’s like liquid porn”. I love it, great scent. Far from something you could pull off everyday though. It’s as unique as they come, I haven’t smelled anything that even remotely approaches it.
