> I still haven’t bought any kitchenware yet…someone tell me the “must haves” like a stove, pot, and a knife. Where should I buy them? IKEA is cheap stuff but then you guys say get the expensive ones which confuses me now.

Some of it you can get cheap, but for knives you want to spend some money. Also, you can get cheap pans, but they are thin and things burn easily in them. Spending a little more gets you thicker pans that spread the heat better so you don’t get hot spots. Go to some of the cooking web sites (Google is your friend) for some advice.

Sure, or pasta and bottled sauce. Just follow the directions. I worked my way through college cooking in restaurants so I have some experience cooking. Also you could watch “Top Chef” for some ideas, though their cooking is way beyond you at the moment.

cooking a fantastic meal for the object of your desire is as stimulating to them as wearing pheros in most cases. double it up and you have a hot night ahead of you.

Cooking is a sensuous exercise that stimulates so many of the senses.
Sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch…

There are a lot of foods that are aphrodisiac, or at least stimulating due to their associations. There are some things that are just plain fun to eat. And then there are many foods that bring comfort to the eater. You can contour an evening to go in a certain direction depending on what you feed your date.

Men who cook make me weak. In the knees, that is. On the one hand it is hard to accept someone who can outdo me at my own game (cooking), but then again it is hard to say no to someone who is masterful at so many things… 😉
And there is something so very sexy about a man who knows his way around the kitchen.

This is a skill worth learning. You will impress the ladies.

It doesn’t get much easier than boiling pasta and opening a jar of bottled sauce. Throw in some french bread slathered with garlic and butter, and a green salad… yum. Fast, easy and cheap.
You’ll learn to make your own adjustments to fine-tune the flavors as you go. It’s really hard to mess up this meal. You had to fine-tune your pheros, right? That didn’t mean that the first few attempts were losses. Just learning experiences.

My eight year old can make his own eggs.
My thirteen year old can cook the family dinner.
NO, we are not Amish. lol
You can do this too, Taibo. Just plunge in. 🙂

Try this softball:

Salmon with Lime Butter, Lemon Spinach and Basmati Rice.

**Go to the store:**
Salmon- Go buy yourself a nice salmon filet. 1/2lb per person should do.
Basmati Rice - grab a large bag, cheaper and will last a long time. Buy at an ethnic foods store and they are usually much less expensive.
Unsalted butter, 1 stick
Limes - 1 lime
Lemons - 1 lemon
Garlic - 1 head
Olive Oil - Get a decent bottle of extra-virgin
(please tell me you have salt and pepper!)

**Cook:**
Basmati Rice first. Measure 1 cup of rice and wash out the rice for a few minutes, until the water runs clear. Boil 1 1/4 cups of water in a pan, add a pinch of salt and a dash of olive oil. Stir in the cup of rice and lower the heat so it no longer boils, but just simmers. Cover and should be ready in 20 minutes.

Salmon - rinse the salmon, pat dry, _ **lightly** _ coat with olive oil, sprinkle salt and pepper. Grill, bake or broil. Baking at about 350 will take about 20 minutes. Grilling and broiling will take less time.

Spinach- boil water. If you have a steamer or a colander, put the spinach in that and let it wilt. It should only take a few minutes. Squeeze the moisture out of the spinach and put in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and fresh lemon juice. Ready to serve.

Lime butter- In a food processor, blender or the like, put 1 clove of garlic, 3 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons of lime juice and salt and pepper. It will turn into whipped butter. Set that aside.

Put everything together on a plate, put a teaspoon of the lime butter on the salmon and you are set for a damn good meal that is actually very good for you. I left out really simple stuff like to use tin foil or a glass baking dish for the salmon. I thought it was too remedial, but let me know if you have questions.

For a date, practice this (or any recipe ) first and then for the date. Add flowers on the table, candles, wine and a desert. The simpler the better, ice cream and berries is an easy go to. Just make sure to get fresh berries and a nice ice cream to compliment the berries.

Do not be deceived by the simplicity, this rocks.

simple meals are normally the best. good call on the lime butter… fantastic way to add a nice rich flavor to the rest of the plate since the other ingredients are super simple and clean flavors

I think by about 13 I could cook a couple of the dinners we normally ate - I also was in charge of the barbecue during the summer…

My brother still basically doesn’t know how to cook at 22…

He moved out and basically ate cereal and Burger King… I moved out and ate Chicken Breast baked with a spicy rub + Spaghetti with a pesto sauce and green beans

Learning to cook makes life alot easier

I have to give the props to Epicurious for the lime butter. Even thought it is butter, you’re using a teaspoon of the entire mix! If anyone makes this, let me know. It is a sure thing every time for me.

Simple dishes are the best, for several reasons, you know what you are eating; you don’t spend so much time cooking that it turns you off; the simple recipes are easy to recall and you can recreate them from memory (as I did); you can easily alter them and ingredients are easily found at most any store.

Complex is fine, but the payoff had better be worth it. Now once the date goes well and you have to make breakfast, you need to bust out with with the [Potato Cinnamon Rolls](http://www.cooking.com/Recipes-and-More/recipes/Potato-Cinnamon-Rolls-with-Sugar-Glaze-recipe-6267.aspx). You will be a god among men offering this with a **good** cup of coffee. (Just say the word “instant” and I’ll kick you so hard your boys will hit the top of your skull.) This is not a quick or easy recipe, but the payoff is worth it.

For yourself, learn to cook. It can be very rewarding, never mind how women love a guy that can cook. A girlfriend’s grandmother told her to marry me when she added my cooking ability to the list. She thought I was perfect.
