I was doing some research and found out that they’re gotten from a secretion in the vagina, but is it just any secretion? Don’t they have to pick apart the very fibers of the secretion in order to find the cops?

Can someone please shed some light on how this obtaining of cops is done?

I heard someone say once that they used their own “juices” as their own creation of cops. Can you really do that?

Also…

I read this, very interesting and scary…

Copulins are short-chain [fatty acids](http://everything2.com/title/fatty%2520acid) that are produced by the [human](http://everything2.com/title/human) [female](http://everything2.com/title/female) [vagina](http://everything2.com/title/vagina), as well as the vaginas of other related [primates](http://everything2.com/title/primate). Copulins are [pheromones](http://everything2.com/title/pheromone) that have been [experimentally](http://everything2.com/title/experiment) proven to somewhat increase the [sexual attraction](http://everything2.com/title/sexual%2520attraction) of [males](http://everything2.com/title/males) to the [females](http://everything2.com/title/females) that [smell](http://everything2.com/title/smell) of them. The copulins are less effective than the [steroid pheromones](http://everything2.com/title/steroid%2520pheromones) though. [Acetic acid](http://everything2.com/title/Acetic%2520acid) ([C](http://everything2.com/title/carbon)[O](http://everything2.com/title/oxygen)O[H](http://everything2.com/title/hydrogen)CH3) is technically not a copulin, but it is often falsely believed to be one by people in the general populace. There are 6 different copulin [chemicals](http://everything2.com/title/chemical), which are:

1. [propanoic acid](http://everything2.com/title/propanoic%2520acid) aka [propionic acid](http://everything2.com/title/propionic%2520acid): COOHCH2CH3
2. [butanoic acid](http://everything2.com/title/butanoic%2520acid) aka [butyric acid](http://everything2.com/title/butyric%2520acid): COOH(CH)2CH3
3. [2-methylpropanoic acid](http://everything2.com/title/2-methylpropanoic%2520acid) aka [isobutyric acid](http://everything2.com/title/isobutyric%2520acid): COOHCH2(CH2)CH3
4. [pentanoic acid](http://everything2.com/title/pentanoic%2520acid) aka [valeric acid](http://everything2.com/title/valeric%2520acid): COOH(CH2)3CH3
5. [3-methylbutanoic acid](http://everything2.com/title/3-methylbutanoic%2520acid) aka [isovaleric acid](http://everything2.com/title/isovaleric%2520acid): COOHCH2CH2(CH3)CH3
6. [hexanoic acid](http://everything2.com/title/hexanoic%2520acid) aka [caproic acid](http://everything2.com/title/caproic%2520acid): COOH(CH2)4CH3
The copulin chemicals smell bad and have been shown to damage [mucous membranes](http://everything2.com/title/mucous%2520membrane) when their concentration in the [air](http://everything2.com/title/air) is high, or when they are applied directly to mucous membranes in a liquid solution. Specificly, the copulins smell rancid, [sweaty](http://everything2.com/title/sweat), [dairy](http://everything2.com/title/dairy), and/or [goat](http://everything2.com/title/goat)-like. In fact, the [latin](http://everything2.com/title/latin) word ‘caper’, from which caproic acid was named, means ‘goat’. Butanoic acid, unlike the other copulins, smells somewhat [fruity](http://everything2.com/title/fruit).
That means that the copulins are clearly not the chemical(s) of the naturally-occurring human female attractant [scent](http://everything2.com/title/scent).

I don’t want my mucous membrane to be damaged by all those chemicals x.x

That’s not surprising. I also read that guys wearing cops emit a scent that tells women they were with another women and gave her pleasure so apparently the women you’ll be around will want to date you because they’ll feel like you’ll give them pleasure too 😛

i guess. i wear them mostly for the self effects. cops spike your testosterone levels and make you more aggressive.
matter of fact i’m wearing some right now…sooooo…how you doin? j/k

Lol, yeah I did read something about it raising testosterone levels 150% or something like that. Dnt quote me on that tho, cus I can’t remember exactly.

Do you try to up your testosterone to be more of an alpha male? Or does it have another purpose? Maybe to help with sparring in martial arts? That’s what I would use it for if I was a guy

it just clears my head for some reason i dunno.
so i’m curious why would a lovely lady such as yourself need any help attracting males?

The copulin formulations on the market use _synthetic_ fatty acids, and molecules that are not found in the vagina, like benezenethiol and Indole and hexanoic acid. Benezenethiol is a sulfur-containing molecule used to simulate vaginal musk. Indole is an ass/shit smell molecule. And hexanoic acid smells like ass cheese. They add these last three molecules to try to simulate the odors of the vagina without much success.

In addition to the other five fatty acids you have listed above the vaginal secretions also contain lactic acid and acetic acid, and many other complex components. BTW, acetic acid _is_ a volatile short chain fatty acid produced in the vagina, and therefore is a copulin. So, the above statement saying it is not a copulin is incorrect.

As far as your mucus membranes go, never put any product you purchase in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. On your skin they won’t hurt you, though some find the formulations to be a bit irritating.

One other inaccuracy in your statements above… fatty acids, like most odor molecules smell different depending on their concentration and ratios. Indole is the same way. At high concentrations it smells like shit, at low concentration is smells like a flower. Butyric acid is no exception. At high concentration it is sour and acidic and rancid. At low concentration it has a fermented fruit scent.

Copulins (fatty acids) that you have listed above are a metabolic by-product of pro-biotic lactose fermenting bacteria that live in the vagina and are responsible for maintaining its normal low/acidic pH.

One of the things produced by vaginal epithelial cells is glycoprotein, some of which is membrane bound to the epithelial cells and some of which is secreted as a major component of the vaginal fluid. Glycoprotein production is under the control of estrogen. When estrogen levels go up, glycoprotein production and secretion in the vagina goes up. This is one of the major food sources of the pro-biotic bacteria, and the reason why copulin production goes up the highest each month at ovulation, when estrogen levels peak.

Because natural copulin production in women is so sensitively tied to estrogen levels, women who are low estrogen producers, such as those on the pill, or those who are aging, do not produce as much natural copulins.

What is so special about copulins? Astrid Jutte showed in the 1970’s that a solution containing copulins increases men’s testosterone levels to 150% of baseline within fifteen minutes of sniffing this solution.

That’s interesting. Usually when a guy’s testosterone rises they’re either hell bent on killing someone or wanting sex. I didn’t know that could clear a guys head.

Idk, maybe since I’m just stuck at home I’m not able to really go out and see if guys are attracted or not. There are a few new workers at my job tho so maybe I’ll be able to find out here in the next few days.

Very interesting. So I guess it wouldn’t matter how they got the females cops, just as long as it was during ovulation.

Ok, so I understand no to put the stuff up my nose, but the scent is so strong that when I put it on my chest it travels up to my nose. Hopefully this isn’t doing any harm. I do get those irritated red marks tho…hope that isn’t hazardous either. Ugh

The researchers originally got the vaginal fluid to do the analysis by having their subjects use special collection tampons, which they rinsed in methanol to elute out the fatty acids and other components.

If EOW irritates your nose, just dilute it until it doesn’t. But I’ve heard of it irritating some people’s skin, but never their nose.

I think I’ve found a nice solution to EOW’s stank - if you have the really stinky version. Mine says 2002 Ver. SPE6.

I diluted mine by taking 3 ml EOW, adding 25.5 ml of artisan’s alcohol, 1.5 ml Pink Sugar, and 3 drops of Grapefruit essential oil. After mixing this up really well, I let it sit for two days.

If you want to mix up a smaller amount than 30 ml, the formula is:

1 part EOW (1 ml)
8 1/2 parts artisan’s alcohol (8.5 ml)
1/2 part Pink Sugar (.5 ml)
1 drop Grapefruit essential oil

That will give you 10 ml to work with and test.

You can still smell the cops when you spray it on, so be forewarned. But after dry-down this smells pretty good, and has a reminiscence of the real deal, though not completely.

I’ve been testing this for the past four days on my husband and you all already know how much he hates EOW. With this mix he’s constantly huffing me, telling me there is no other woman on the planet that smells like I do, and how much he misses me and my scent when he has to travel.

I’ve been applying this in the evenings also, and his interest and libido has been way up, so it is effective as well.

I ordered mine online. There are tons of places, but I called and ordered mine from Zenith Supplies from Seattle. I had used them before when I lived in Seattle years ago, so I know the quality is good and you can order straight essential oil undiluted or order it diluted to any concentration in a carrier oil.

Great formula and I am going to try it out but I may need to increase the amount of copulins in mine.

Maybe I will make one with the low copulins and one with the higher copulins. This way depending on the effect I am going for I can choose.

I find anything under six drops for me just gets a mild attractive interested vibe. Above that and It peeks sexual interest. Could be something to do with my husbands hormone levels though. 😃 Its kinda nice to blame there hoemones for something once in a while LOL

Great find on the EO’s to. I love grapefruit. Ooohhh They have a few rare onea I have been looking for to.

With this I use 1 - 3 sprays. Because it disperses so well in tiny little droplets across more skin surface, less is more.
