# Cricket and other marvels of the former British colony of South Africa

I was very amused to be asked what cricket was the other day so here are some lesser known, perticularly in North America, words/phrases from my country:

**boerewors** - a type of sausage  
**lekker** - informal phrase from afrikaans meaning nice, good, etc.  
**biltong** - a type of dried out meat snack  
**braai** - BBQ  
**rugby** - a sport, closest to your NFL but with less padding and, as with the cricket, with more continuity.

En dit is mos alles vir nou. Ek gaan nou op 'n ander website gaan kyk hou dit gaan daar! Tot siens!

With a braai’ed biltong in his mouth, the scary humanoid boerewors tore apart his rugby opponent, and afterward flashed a thumbs up and said “Lekker, dude.”
