Well, ya never know, I may find myself in Claremont…_someday_.

I _love_ breakfast. I’ve even been known to indulge in the small “second breakfast”. I think a lot of people do, they just don’t know it has a name…unless they’re a hobbit. 😃

[Second\_breakfast](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_breakfast)

I make a breakfast sandwich in the summer when my garden is a go-go with juicy tomatoes. Lightly toasted bread of your choice…insides spread with mayo…lettuce…a fried egg topped with melted cheese…then sliced tomato and if you want to guild the lily…a couple stips of bacon. Mmmmm. Wolfie calls it Egg McBella. 😛

Occasionally, when I’m feeling lazy I’ll even do breakfast for dinner!

> _ **Hmm, damn I wish my man was more of a breakfast person the only time he eats pancakes really is when I make my old fashioned lumberjackers from scratch and now that I’ve figured out I’m allergic to wheat.. poopoo lol 🙂 thanks for breakfast bella. ^.^** _

Aw, Electra, I know wheat allergies are tough. It’s not just avoiding wheat but checking labels for gluten content…seems it’s in just about everything that’s been processed. If I knew you were comin’ I’d have made buckwheat pancakes instead. 😉

Is it just wheat allergies or are you celiac? You’re probably already aware that, these days, there are a lot of alternative grains you can use. For those who aren’t familiar…the problem is getting the right mix of grains to mimic the texture of goods usually baked from wheat flour. See, it’s the glue (gluten) in the wheat (along with eggs) that helps give baked goods their texture. Baked goods made from alternative flours are often more gritty and heavier than wheat flour and have a tendency to fall apart. The secret, if there is one, is to use a combination of various gluten-free flours that will result in a lighter less grainy texture.

Bob’s Red Mill is a great brand. They sell all kinds of grains, including a wheat-free all purpose baking flour. That’s great 'cause it eliminates the need to find the right balance of gluten-free flours to create decent baked goods. The best flours for baking are rice flour, sweet rice flour, potato flour, potato starch flour (these two are different), tapioca flour, buckwheat flour, and a variety of bean flours. Cornmeal, corn flour and cornstarch are frequently combined with those flours. Gluten-free pastires tend to crumble, so xanthan gum (white powder sold in a little pouch) is often added to help hold the mixture together and keep it from crumbling.

Gluten-free grains good for eating, as you would rice, are amaranth, buckwheat, quinoa, corn, rice, tapioca, oats and millet.

For pasta I find I rather like the ones made from rice flour. Of couse, it doesn’t have the taste of semolina but it’s very good and not sticky.

There are tons of books available and lots of gluten-free recipes on line that are worth persuing if you’re looking for yummy recipes and a hand in how to put it all together. 🙂

I think a lot of people who don’t feel well or think they’re suffering from some other malady are really allergic to wheat and just don’t realise it. Frankly, it ain’t all that it’s cracked up to be. A lot of people, though not technically allergic, would do better to avoid it. 😉

I’m not sure which it is but I have less mood swings stopped loosing my hair showed improvement in hair and nail growth and less brusing. Plus my stomach stopped hurting all the time.

I eat a lot of rice flour based products and love them.
I need to figure out a new pancake recipe though baked goods were my specialty for a long time everything from soft pretzels and cake to baklava.

Trader joes has some nice gluten free mini pancakes.
I need to order some tapioca taro and oat flour though.
Much as I love potatoes I’ve never like bread made with them.

Processed foods in general are no bueno for me.

Thankyou so much for the tips. 🙂

wow that sounds delicious. That’s a ballin sandwich. Reminds me of what me and my friends do with our hotdogs. Toasted buns ( 😉 ), diced grilled onions, ketchup, mayo, mustard, chili, hotdogs/sausage wrapped in bacon + fried egg on top. There are people in LA who sell those kinda dogs but a little toned down… we appropriately name our dogs the “LA hot dog” aka heart attack by 30.

omg, tommy’s… yessss. Chili itself is a heart attack. In N Out… they’re expanding a bit east… but not east enough for ya Mark. They’ve got a few in Nevada and last I heard, rumors were saying they wanted to franchise it and go public… if they do I’m hoping quality stays the same. You should just come out to LA for a week and just hit up some of those spots. Or hell, anyone should and let me know. Need an excuse for great food and a break from studying. Bellaaaaaaaaaaaa bring wolf and drag mark while you’re on the way… maybe kidnap renny while he fishes or something… 😮 😛

Mark, any "Whattaburger"s down your way. A friend took me to one in New Mexico (T or C maybe?) The food was just average, but OMG the drive in ambience, right down to the rollerskating curbhops and the fifties singles in the jukebox.

We have a Whataburger on every corner here, but they don’t do the drive up rollerskating thing. You gotta hit up Sonic for the old A&W experience. Even A&W here are non-existent as solo stores anymore. They combined with Long John Silvers, and Kentucky Fried Chicken’s and all the stores have at lest one other franchise in em.

Damn, nearly forgot about this one too. They’ve all but disappeared around Dallas now ☹

Ah, wienerschnitzel… chili cheese fries, + chili dogs = 😃

Bella, since you’re a fan of breakfast, there is this insanely awesome place to go to for a breakfast burrito. It’s a small joint in Pasadena called “Lucky Boy.” They have a monster of a burrito and it is seriously the most delicious thing ever imagined IMO.

Pasadena. Now that brings back a memory…lost, driving a Fiat Spider with Hotel California stuck in the 8-track…really stuck…had to disconnect a wire to turn it on and off. All in all perfect for Pasadena in the early 80s 🆒. Thank god for Ho-Jo. I’m in!

_sniff_ _sniff_ I smell something gooooood…_crash!_ Wha? What’s this cage? What’s happening? Whaa…Sigh..am I that easy to lure? 😃

Dude, Zeph. Those bacon hotdogs are BOMB! I’ll remember two very distinct pieces of culinary artwork during my time here in SoCal. Bacon wrapped hotdogs in K-town, and…FRIED CHICKEN AND WAFFLES!!! Roscoe’s anyone? 😃 Man, I want some so bad right now.

Mark, where is that French Dip place exactly? I can see it’s somewhere on Ord. I really like French Dip. As a gesture of friendship, I’ll share the super, duper, ultra awesome secret location to my favorite pastrami sandwich. It’s crazy expensive for a deli sandwich, something around $12, but it’s so big and so good. Just a whole lot of meat, some mustard, and bread.

That’s the lovely front entrance, with outdoor seating area, complete with a little fire pit. If you ever wanna visit, take the Venice Ave exit off the 405, it’s right next to Tito’s Tacos (Also a very popular eating spot).

Yeah, wrap your mouth around that meat. It’s a doooozy…

Bella, if you guys do go on a road trip, do let me know. I’m a bit sick right now, but I’ll get better in no time if I know friends are on the way. 🙂 No need to kidnap me, I’ll go willingly. I’m a bit like a dog (yes, sometimes with the typical associations), if I smell food, I’ll be happy to trot along. 😛

BTW, In-N-Out is _the_ best fast food burger joint in the states. If you don’t have one in your state, your state needs to step up. California has like 1023980124978 In-N-Outs. 😛

oh man, pastrami? Have you tried The Hat? They’ve got pretty bomb pastrami IMO. Try their pastrami chili cheese fries too. Large portions, delicious juicy pastrami, all you need is good company. That’s the only place I know of for good pastrami. I’ll have to check out that place that mark mentioned.

Lucky Boy also has pastrami but it’s eh… Phya, if you really love pastrami and haven’t been to any of The Hat’s around, definitely try and visit one. I would say it’s worth the drive.

As a gesture of friendship, I’ll share the super, duper, ultra awesome secret location to my favorite pastrami sandwich. It’s crazy expensive for a deli sandwich, something around $12, but it’s so big and so good. Just a whole lot of meat, some mustard, and bread.** _

Now where is that place…_exactly_…lol. I love a good French Dip with a little horseradish.
