Dear Mr. President, Thank you for helping my neighbors with their mortgage payments. You know the one’s down the street who, in the good times, refinanced their house several times and went on vacations to wonderful places, bought SUV’s, ATV’s, RV"s, installed a pool, a big screen TV, two Wave Runners and a Harley. I was wondering, since I¢m paying my mortgage and theirs, could you arrange for me to borrow the Harley now and then? Sincerely, Richard Ford Queen Creek, AZ P.S. They also need help with their credit cards, when do you want me to start making those payments? P.P.S. I almost forgot - they didn’t file their income tax return this year. Should I go ahead and file for them or will you be appointing them to cabinet posts? ---

I do recall a certain document declaring freedom from tyranny! I also recall I have the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Tea Parties in Ohio, Militias forming, the next American Revolution is being discussed. Strange times indeed. ---

Lazyness & ignorance has neutered america… Ever see 300? Remember how bad ass the spartans were? Remember the part in the beginning where every bad newborn was weeded out of their gene pool? The scary thing is this is the type of thinking that brought Lenin and Hitler to power. You have to remember that the Russians and Germans didn’t just wake up one morning and get the urge to kill all the rich people and Jews. It all started with trying to make things equal (what PC terms welth redistibution). People should be reading their history or we are going to see 1918-1945 the remix. ---

I agree with Chevelle here, propaganda and “bright side thinking” can be terrible tools for destruction and control of an entire country. Ever see the hundreds of thousands of German soldiers, civilians, and children heiling Hitler at his parades and speeches? Those people thought, “Wow, this guy is going to change our lives, he is going to make everything better.” It’s too bad they didn’t see the death and annihilation that would be necessary to get these results… EDIT: Come to think of it…This could be frighteningly similar to what happened to end the Great Depression. We are entering a so called recession, or perhaps depression. Korea is threatening us yet we don’t believe they are serious enough for us to “protect ourselves”. Surely Obama realizes a full scale war would likely end our ‘recession’ and he would be known as a great president just as Roosevelt was. It’s scary, what one man could do, for his own immortality and fame. ---

I don’t agree with everything the government is doing to try to stave off complete economic collapse of _the planet_ (which I think is something most people forget: it’s not just us the US government is trying to save, here), but I think they are doing their best with what they have to work with. Perhaps the economists here would like to post their theories on how to keep the world afloat with minimal government intervention? Every political leader knows that a war is excellent for one’s ratings. Although it didn’t work for Bush, it did work for Margaret Thatcher when the Argentinians dared to invade a flyspeck on the atlas called the Falkland Islands in 1982. She was staring down the barrel of defeat at the next election. Within days a full Naval Taskforce was enroute, Marines, Paratroopers etc (the SAS had already landed!), Air Force were bombing the runway at Port Stanley airport ( and missing!). National outrage was played up in the press, Country got behind the war and she was safely in power for the next 6 years! Obama may well turn out to be the greatest leader that the world has ever seen, he may turn out to be another Nixon. At the end of the day, he is a politician, if you look up the word in the dictionary, it is described as cheating lying bastard who will sell their granny for a few votes 😉 ---

Obama = Fascist dick tator The auto industry is it’s own mess, the Unions are most of their undoing. the auto industry tried several times to cut wages, and reduce the bloat in their company, the problem is the unions were keeping them at their existing contracts so they could not be flexible enough to keep up with the smaller faster European or Asian car makers. As for the banks and their subprime loan issues, they were result of government regulation problems, the banks did not want to loan to the markets that they did, but because of federal funding and insurance they were forced to make a certain percentage of the higher “risk” loans that they did not want to make. Government regulations are a problem, regulate something to make it equal for all but deregulate to encourage growth and development. Look at the phone companies, when they regulated and broke down bell all homes ere connected to a phone line, but development and improvements in the system were almost halted. now as the phone companies have been regulated, they are almost stagnate in their growth. The same thing is going on in our power industry, a company cannot upgrade one portion of their facility without meeting 100% of the current regulations for emissions and operations guidelines. so upgrading a boiler or turbine to keep a power plant operating means a 600 million dollar scrubber system has to be installed when putting in a 100 million dollar power turbine generator would increase efficiency of the plant by 30-40% with less pollution than it was currently making.
