I’ve got a some questions about the biology of pheros. From what I’ve gathered [Pheromones](https://a314.com/) are (in part?) metabolites (break down products?) of hormones. Right? Hormones are to some extent products of fatty acid metabolism? So a major change in the types of fatty acids in our diets would result in a change in our phero signature? I’m thinking in particular about Omega -3 vs Omega -6 and perhaps Omega -9 and longer. Maybe others, I’m totally layman about this but I’ve made some dietary changes related to including high Omega -3 fish as well as balanced vegetarian polyunsaturates and fiber percursors of short chain FAs. I’m beginning to wonder if this type of diet may have benefits far beyond the vascular.

I’m pretty sure some other posters have mentioned seeing changes in their body chemistry, and therefore changes in their [pheromone](https://a314.com/) signatures etc, based on diet.

There should be a number of posting here, possibly findable via a search.

Thomas Lavoie is one those experimenting with diet and suppliments. Check his posts as well.

I’m trying Maca too.. at least one pill a day.
It should normalize hormone levels…
Perhaps it has an effect..

In response to the Maca. There are two types on the market. Most are for sexual health. But for hormone issues the better one contains glucosinolates. However it seems to take 2 weeks to adjust to the herb.

As for your original question I would think diet changes have a two fold effect on hormone / pheromone production. Since your body is a very complex machine you get out of it what you put into it. Better nutrition should yield better results. The fatty acids do affect our hormones so that should be a positive change. But beyond that your body is built to reproduce – sorry but it’s true. So it seems to follow that improving your health and hormones would encourage you body to produce more pheromones to signal you ready for sexual activity.

Another question this brings to my mind is does The Pill affect pheromone production due to the way it works?

Not sure if this is what you mean but some time back when I was kickboxing I experimented with a thing called the anabolic diet to make weight…its basically a variation of the Atkins diet, very high in fat and protein with little to no crabs. This is before I was into mones or even pickup so I didn’t notice any effects good or bad on attraction but I did notice a lot of hostility from animals.
Seems the high meat content of the diet gave me the scent of a predator. Even zoo animals hated me. Herbivores saw me as a threat, and carnivors saw me as potential competition.

> One more thing: I’m positive that the testosterone amount is directly linked to your diet, especially your protein intake. I’ve been a vegan for years and have been eating only very few protein. At this time I could easily get away with 3 sprays of [Ammo](https://a314.com/product/ammo/) . Currently I’m back to eating meat and have a high protein intake (around 200g per day) and I’m pretty sure 2 sprays of [Ammo](https://a314.com/product/ammo/) have been too much this last weekend.

I would think that protein intake does have an effect, but it could be different according to the person, unless we can get more confirmation of this.

Yes - Diet does affect phero production.

As Radman notes, the Atkins Diet has been linked with significant changes in body odour and increased levels of aggression.

In my own line, a few years back we were tasked with investigating the old wives tale about b-vitamin rich foods and supplements affecting your attractiveness to certain species of biting insect and yes, we did establish that b-rich diets resulted in an increase in the levels of pheros implicated in repelling insects. **However** this increase was **very** small and did not vary significantly across our (fairly small TBH) sample of volunteers, so it was arguable that a person’s overall attractiveness is determined by more biological factors than just diet.

The exact mechanism of diet and phero production in this situation would be for someone else to explain but I’m afraid they have left for pastures new.

Good question, Weasy. 🙂

Ever wonder why after having children so many couples don’t understand why they just don’t seem to be able to get along anymore? The normal pressures that accompany the birth of a child are at work, of course, and perfectly understandable but that might not be the whole story. Especially not if she wakes up one day and says, "Holy shit. Who _is_ this guy?..or vice versa, “WTF happened to the girl I married?” 😮

Using the pill tamps down your natural copulin production. And as we know, the scent of copulins is very important in the dance of attracting a mate.

It has everything to do with sniffing out Mr./Ms. Right and how taking The Pill effects our choice of mates. Yeah, he looks good but does he _smell_ good? It’s chemistry, baby. Seems the nose knows better than the eyes in the long run.

Anyways, this article sheds some light on the subject and should give us all some food for thought. If nothing else it’ll get ya thinkin’ about the probable consequences of using chemical birth control when you’re hoping to truly “perceive” a potential mate and for him to truly “perceive” you.

Hope it helps!

@ Radman – I lost a lot of weight on Atkins, (lowered my cholesterol too BTW) I found I was perceived to be more attractive and sexually available. I figured it was due to the weight loss. LOL But perhaps it was also a change in pheromones. This was long before I was using any outside assistance. Guess I’ll have to up my protein intake again.

@ Phoenix – I wonder if I produce a good amount of Androstenone. I don’t have a lot of body hair - never had, but I have always been considered a dominant personality. People seem to either love or hate me – never in between. I get this reaction whether I use pheros or not. Hummmm. Since using pheros I seem to get a more favorable reaction from people. But it’s still love or hate.

@ Bella – great article. People hate to admit that out behavior is still so instinctual. Sent is so important. I personally believe that sent tells us so much more than just “ready for sexual activity”. I also think that locked into someone’s sent is whether or not they can produce viable offspring with another. Whether those two people can genetically reproduce. No I have no proof. But I really believe that personal sent is that important. I often wonder if couples with fertility issues smell good to each other? Of course I know there is more to fertility issues than just genetics. However, with that being said just because you’d produce wonderful children doesn’t mean that you’d make a great couple. LOL

It’s not surprising that the Atkins diet has this effect on people. Protein and monounsaturated fats help boost testosterone which makes a significant physical and psychological impact.
