I ran across this quote from Jasmin in another thread.

> …The main thing to remember is to get a scent package with putatives, since it helps them to project further. (Smelly did this, which is good) You can smell a skunk a mile away, but a hobo from only a few feet since human scents and pheromones stay don’t project very far. Many of the problems we’ve seen with putatives involve getting them naked, but pheromones need all the help they can get to reach as many noses as possible.

It made me think about my recent experience with mx304, where a woman made a beeline to me from 20 yards away, then bent over and presented genitalia. There is no doubt in my mind the mix was diffusing well through the air in the space we occupied.

As I think about this I see the advantages in having a _bright neon sign_ effect when testing. It makes whatever effects are present clear and easily observable. It will also increase the absolute numbers of people exposed and exhibiting obsrvable behavioral effects.

One has to wonder if signals of this magnitude are natural to the human condition. Natural or not, we can further wonder if they may not be the style for everyone. Some people don’t care for loud floral print shirts. Some people prefer to speak softly instead of yelling out a hard sell. It may be that some people would prefer a subtle [pheromone product](https://a314.com/shop/) that only makes itself known within an intimate personal space.

Probably not the young teenager out on the town looking to put another notch on his condom. But perhaps some of the more mature gents who understand that louder is not always better, or even more convincing.

This came up in my mind as I was considering the current threads on unscented products. I started thinking and realised that some of my own favorite mixes don’t diffuse so well, and that I like them that way. Perhaps the study of diffusion should go beyond a single-minded quest for greater diffusion, and move more towards providing a pallette of ranges to suit the tastes and predelictions of the users.

Now that’s what I call a friggen hit!

I prefer unscented products as well. Perhaps the cologne or EOs I add to it aren’t as effective as what Androtics uses. However it not a huge difference judging from my results and I get to decide how much and what to use. NPA and Burberry Weekend sure do work well together. I too prefer my mones mainly in my personal space and not broadcast to every nutjob within 50 feet. And, yes, I have gotten plenty of unwanted attention including presentation of genitalia…

Great point GWTW. And it’s exactly why I’m such a fan of oil based products.

I like the close control I get with the decreased diffusion because unless I’m in the mood for it, I don’t necessarily want to announce myself pheromonally to everyone within a 10 or 20 yards radius.

I prefer to let my look and the way I carry myself hit first and then the particular mix I’m wearing hit second, as I move towards the people with whom I’m interested in communicating.

Perhaps we’re not quite as different from bugs as we may imagine.

At least there weren’t hundreds of them!

😮
