I recently purchased A314 oil and was wondering about the diffusion rate. I did search around the forum and figured out that oil diffusion would be slower, but my question is how much slower compared to the spray version? Are we talking 50% slower or even more?

Winter is coming and it’s going to get pretty cold here in Germany for oil to diffuse properly. Would applying cologne/perfume directly over the oil app point and mixing them together have the same effect of diffusion as the spray version? Or is that a big no-no?

Eventually, I’d like to make my own To-GO bottles of A314. I have perfumes in accessible screw-off bottles with essential oils and alcohol already mixed well by a chemist friend of mine. Can I possibly pipette some of those into a 5ml TOGO and add the right amount of oil drops to create a successful [A314 spray](https://a314.com/product/a314-classic-spray/) (without damaging the pheros)? Or should I just go and start from scratch with perfumer’s alcohol?

Help would be much appreciated!

Oil is good to a reasonably low temp, yes - it will diffuse less/last longer but frankly you are better-off looking to maximise exposure indoors where it rapidly climbs back up to normal.

Using any mone, spray or oil outdoors is going to give you much poorer diffusion simply because of the far greater air volumes/movement and the temp difference between when a spray and oil becomes ineffective is actually pretty small . no more than three or four degrees.

Personally I don’t find any point in using oils outsoors much below 7C and sprays are usless below 3/4C - and below freezing, diffusion is so minimal/close to you, despite increased skin circulation that its not worth the bother. You need to look to indoor effects then as it rapidly returns as the environment warms-up. In fact in some ways an indoor winter environment is often excellent due to the warmth, the increased circulation/respiration of people in from the cold and the raised humitidy - all encourage projection very well.

Spraying over oil is pretty useless IME - the pheros diffuse-off so fast that they will be inneffective in no time once you get anywhere with any heat.

Mixing down oil into sprays is viable but be careful to choose essential oils without antibacterial properties (check thread here already) as they will destroy the mones before you get a chance to spray. Mixing sprays into oil is useless as the dose difference needed between the mediums is so great that it will be too weak to use effectively.

Thanks mobo. We don’t have any Perfumer’s Alcohol here in Germany. Would regular non-denatured alcohol do the trick?

Also found an alternative sold around here called “Basiswasser” in German which contains Alcohol (95%) and Panthenol + added scent usually used to make one’s own cosmetics or perfumes. I’m wondering if the Panthenol will somehow interfere with the pheros?

It would. Panthenol however - it might slow diffusion unacceptably. IIRC its used in hair products to help cosmetic ingredients bind to hair/body hair, so as some pheros bind to hair most readilly, it may make matters much worse?

You do know you can get PA from the store here - Under the supplies tab.

Damn it, should have done that before my order shipped. AD should make ordering PA more straightforward. I swear I looked there before and saw nothing and now I know why. You have to order the 30 ml bottle and then add PA and scent from there. I don’t want to pay more on shipping than on the actual supplies lol. Till next time I order I guess!

How long would a PA mix last without any DPG? I’m guessing the spray versions of A314 already have some DPG in them.
