> DOCS have invented a spray which cures shyness — by being squirted up the **NOSE**.
>
> The all conk-quering spray was developed after medics discovered a chemical that stops people feeling bashful, it emerged yesterday.
> The product — set to be a hit with jittery Brits — means sensitive types could have a quick squirt before nerve-racking events such as public speaking.
> _And scores of shy men would use it to boost their confidence to chat up women._
> The spray harnesses the powers of a feel-good hormone called oxytocin, which is already known to promote an air of calm.
> It is produced naturally by the body when a person is in love and it also induces labour in pregnant women. The spray contains a synthetic version, created in a laboratory after researchers at the University of Zurich spent almost a decade working on it.
> The team decided to test its effects on adults who found it difficult to socialise, trying it out on 70 people for a month.
> Team leader Dr Markus Heinrichs said they were given the spray half an hour before they were put in a difficult social situation.
> _It changed their behaviour “dramatically” with every person stopping feeling anxious and engaging better with others in the group._
> Large-scale trials of the spray are now planned. If they prove successful, it could go on sale in the next five years. The study was announced at the World Congress of Neuroscience in Melbourne.
>
> Dr Heinrichs said the hormone had an effect on the part of the brain that controls fear response.
> Suspending it in a nasal spray is the most effective method of delivery because it was absorbed into the body more rapidly, he said.
> **BIKERS** were yesterday urged by medics to wear support stockings to cut the risk of deadly blood clots on long journeys. The guidance was issued by the Institute of Advanced Motorists, whose chief examiner Peter Rodger said: “Compression socks aid the blood returning to the heart.
> “Wearing a leg support underneath the leathers can avoid long-term circulation problems.”

Interesting. I wonder if the Liquid Trust product would have this effect. The carrier might not be good for spraying up your nose though.

I’ve read concern expressed about the fragility of the oxytocin molecule. I wonder if this stuff has any shelf life at all, and if it can survive shipping.

I’ve ordered a bottle of Liquid Trust a month ago, partially because I’ve heard about this effect of oxytocin and thought it could work if I spray it directly under my nose. I’m not sure if it has done something - but the change definately hasn’t been a dramatic one as suggested in this article. I only got a little buzzy - but that’s probably due to the inhalation of the alcohol. Maybe it’s necessay to spray it up the nose but I won’t try that… 😮

BTW, I’ve seen no effect on other people while wearing LT… ☹

This is what I heard about on TV which is what led me to find this forum. From what I read it seems like oxytocin nasal spray has been around for a long time but is used to help women breast feed so I am not sure if the formula of this new spray is different.
