Hi This question is open to everyone. Do you find that you are either affected when the opposite sex wears a certain fragrance or that people around you act differently when you wear a certain fragrance? I have read a couple of post on here about Joop (for men) in particular. Does anyone know if it contains [pheromones](https://a314.com/)? It makes me sit up and pay attention when I smell it on a guy and I don’t know why 😕. Any thoughts…anyone? xx ---

Mainstream perfumes and aftershave probably don’t contain pheromones - else the manufacturers would probably make some noise about it, as it would be a big selling point. However, I believe - and I’ve been learning about this from the forum, I’m no expert - certain scents like musk, ambergris and what have you have stood the test of time, often having been used for millennia, because molecularly speaking they are not a million miles away from [pheromone molecules](https://pheromonelabs.com/) (as we can ascertain by modern scientific methods). Quite how a molecule that is “close but different” to a human pheromone molecule binds to the right receptor, and whether or not it does so as consistently as a pheromone molecule, I don’t know. And the scents used in today’s perfumes are synthetic versions of stuff that formerly might have been harvested from a civet cat or something! Well, it spares the poor cat, and it makes such scents affordable and accessible to the hoi polloi. But these musks as harvested from animals probably contained some cat/whatever pheros that were not too dissimilar to human ones, enough to get the job done. Maybe we’re not too far removed pheromonally from our animal relatives, so that we can get away with using their secretions 😮 ---

You mean joop the mechnic hand wash stuff ? No that dosnt have mones in it. Smells god aweful though. Perfumes that have mones in them will generally advertise it and they use only tiny tiny amounts. Victoria Secret has a line called sexy. Paris hilton puts the in her line. Other then those two no others come to mind but I am sure there are a few. Tisha ---

Yes there is a goop but there is also joop and it smells like crap. My husband is a mechanic and they get it in vats Yuck LOL, Tish ---
