"Berlin-based perfumer Geza Schoen has created a pair of scents said to possess incredible powers of attraction. They sold out instantly in America and Britain last year, and the perfume duo named Molecule 01 and Escentric 01 – which can be used by either men or women – will be launched in Australia tomorrow through Mecca Cosmetica. The scents contain Iso E Super, an aroma-chemical that mimics human [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/) and is said to seduce the opposite sex." Has anyone tried either of these perfumes? Designer’s website [here](http://www.escentric.com/). I read about these too. They are not pheromones, but Iso E Super is one of the most common synthetics used in perfumery today. If you read Chandler Burr’s book about Luca Turin (a fantastic read about the science of smell if such things interest you), there is a lot of talk about Iso E Super. I believe Iso E Super is supposed to be a sandalwood scent. ---

they sell them at A boutique where I live called Stil. they have a website [stil | distinctive clothing](http://www.stilinc.com) I’ve smelled them, they’re nice… subtle not at all flowery. ---

It’s very smelly and musky, and lasts on the skin for_evvvvvverr_. ---

Compared to other aromachemicals, Iso E Super is one of the milder ones. It’s vaguely woody-amber but also kind of basic in that you can use it at a high percentage (up to 10%) in your fragrance concentrate to add smoothness and volume. This perfume is ridiculously expensive (and sold out everywhere) in Australia. _A 3.5oz bottle costs AU$230.00._ And not all reviews are glowing, eg: “I bought this for my wife as she had been given a tester in Australia and loved it. This is definitely not the same, it has almost no detectable smell, in fact it smells like some cheap toilet water that old ladies wear.” When I read the original article, I thought that pheromones were going mainstream. It was littered with quotes like “not even Mischa Barton could get her hands on one at first- **launch** in London…” - and you know what happens once popculture celebrities get into the picture… But now I realise its just hype about a perfume ingredient that is being marketed as having ‘pheromone-like’ effects whatever that means. In a strange way I am relieved. Must get that book on the science of scent. Thanks for the tip. This stuff intrigues me. ---

I’ve just ordered 50 ml of 25% Molecule 01 Iso E super with 75 % parfumers alcohol, and 10 ml of 100% Molecule 01 Iso E super oil… Also tried to find pure Ambroxan essence ( Molecule 02 ) similar to natural Ambergris, but didnt find a seller of this yet. ---

I managed to find a sample of Molecule 01 finally ! It’s touted online as a unisex fragrance, which is something quite interesting. I’m reminded of blue sugar. I still prefer Blue Sugar to this, however. I will be trying this. ---

I would suggest C16H260 from Cinis Labs on Etsy as a great Molecule 01 alternative but at a much more reasonable price - light, cedar woodsy scent that women love - great for every day or as a ready to go spray for layering over pheromones to enhance their diffusion and longevity. It is 35% ISO E Super, but their ISO E Super is very concentrated compared to standard ISO E SUPER. This is the best ISO E Super also I’ve used for using for purposes of enhancing pheromones. I have found some blends diffusion was greatly enhanced using these particular ISO E SUPERS due to the concentration, both sprays and oils. This I tested with molecules that were very heavy also such as Astaxanthin and Oxytocin and work well for that purpose. They also have Synth, which is 25% ISO E SUPER and 10% tonka bean if you want even more as a cologne. Also they have the ISO E SUPER concentrate which you can use to directly add to [pheromone blends](https://pheromonelabs.com/product-category/advanced/experimental/) or colognes. I generally use 10 drops per 10ml, or sometimes 10%. ISO E SUPER does have some phero like properties so keep that in mind as it can lean a blend more social a bit, but also does a good job making Androstenone more acceptable. There is also Sylvamber which is also around 3x the potency of standard ISO E SUPER which would also work well and has a different scent. I did not find Timbersilk to be worthwhile compared to the Cinnis ISO E Super or Sylvamber for pheromone enhancement, although just for scent use was fine.
