Good Morning all,

I remember reading another user mentioning that their ToGo MX sat in a draw for a few months, and when they went to use it it was empty… Contents all lost to evaporation.

Given the current “Heat wave” in Australia (Its not really a heat wave IMHO, this is just summer in Perth), this is something that could affect me, given most products are Perfumer’s alcohol based.

So when (rather than if) this happens to me, i have a question - Would you just be able to refill the vial with SD38C (or whatever variant of purfumer’s alcohol was used originally) would it redisolve the mones which may still be inside the vial? In other words, will the mones evaporate with the alcohol or may they remain in the vial to allow adding of more solvent to make them soluble again? (in other words, recovering the product by adding more solvent).

I suspect the mones will remain in the vial, but with a much lower concentration.

Thought anyone?

If i have mucked up the basic chemistry principals here, I do apologize . It was many years ago i studied chemistry, and some of the principals may have slipped my mind.

I’m not sure how well the mones stick with the alcohol. If it’s simple evaporation then likely most of them are still in the bottle, but if the togo is leaking often due to changes in air pressure/the alcohol’s lower boiling point basically pushing the liquid out of the togo then you’re screwed.

Yes, you can do that, so long as you accept that the dose will be affected by the evaporation to some degree.

get some 190 proof Everclear or similar 95% non-denatured alcohol. Another high strength non-denatured alcohol is called Volkov. It’s a bit less expensive than everclear. Make sure you get the 190 proof stuff.

In Australia, Dan Murphy’s has 190-proof drinkable Polish spirit. Expensive, but non-denatured alcohol is preferable.

Likely much of the active 'mones have left with what evaporated - but you can always try to salvage what may be left.

I just caught a very similar question in my PM box, and thought it might be a good chance to share it here.

I once accidentally left a bottle of p102 in my car when it got as cold as -15. I didn’t see any sort of frost or crystallization, and somebody on the forum made a guess that it should be okay. Is this true? Or has damage occurred?_

Some helpful data:

The compounds’ melting points are around 275 - 280 degrees fahrenheit. Thats around the temperature they’d need to be to break down.

Hottest temperature the inside of a car can reach on a 130’ day in Phoenix AZ at 2:30 pm is 159’ F.

The heat won’t destroy the compounds. But it _will_ evaporate the alcohol, concentrating your liquid and throwing the dosage off. And possibly leaving a layer of [pheromone](https://a314.com/) on the inside polyester velvet lining of your glove box.

The danger of freezing is also _not_ of destroying the compounds. Those should be fine. Their freezing temp is something like -179’. Ethanol’s freezing temp is -114’. What you may run into is precipitation: compounds/fragrance spontaneously popping out of solution.

Sunlight radiation, specifically UVA/UVB can also have an effect on breaking down and denaturing any compound, from plant biomass, to vinyl, to printing pigments, to the ethanol, or the fragrance compounds. I haven’t come across enough research to convince me how much and how specifically it affects it in regards to fragrance compounds, but I can do a little more research and present it down the line.

\*\*

1: It’s likely adding alcohol to the contents of your bottle will completely throw your dosage and results.

2: Some people I know store these in the refrigerator to keep from evaporating away. A cool dark place like a medicine cabinet should do. Some of the high end fragrances I have had have always gone into the refrigerator (high end stuff I’d buy from Barney’s – Serge Lutens, etc).

A clip-seal butter container has sorted any evaporation/leakage problems I’ve ever had with togos. And dark storage, upright.

It has also been fine for a few hot days in cars but the hottest its ever going to get in Scotland is far less than Arizona/Australia and only on a couple of days a year but to be safe, I’d never have more than a small selection of mones in the car at any time.

Mobo - Nice!

Something like this, I’m guessing?
