the iGallops are a major marketing flop so you can pick one up at deep discount from brookstone, marked down from $650 to $200… they’re dumping them as fast as they can… too bad they never caught on… I’ve had mine for a couple of months, took a while to get it right and work with the machine instead of randomly flopping around… and the results ? Gives you a really nicely toned midsection, almost like a dancer instead of a six pak cruncher look, kinda elegant, combined with dieting, some daily miles of walking, other exercise (no free lunches in the fabulousness club, not even liposuction meatballs), cute iGallop was clearly the finishing touch… very well made, quiet… a lot of engineering for the money… outstanding deals while they last…

Laughing ? Nooooo… only staring in bemused wonderment of this off-planet looking thing… I tried it and thought, OK, it is doing unusual things to my mid body, rather difficult positional exercise because of the mechanics of being an upright primate… other solutions have been weighted hula hoops, belly dancing for men, eeeeeyoooo not for me thx, so i found that if you only sat their like an inert sack of gelatine it couldn’t help much, wrong attitude dude, I tried some excessive things like sitting on it sideways, pulled a muscle enough to need three weeks rest, then slowly found the right relations of feet planted just so, lower back and psoas muscle correct, right breathing rhythm, fooker worked like a charm.. just goes to show that success is a result of what you bring to the party…😛

being serious about exercising is like being serious about study… often tedious, boring, you are doing the action for the result of the investment.. like professional beautiful persons, models, slebz, actors invest (otherwise inordinate) hours into a degree of physical sculpting no rational person would, except for the long term payout… body development is like factory work, repeat… repeat… repeat… makes sense to find the things that pay the most for the time in…😕

FWIW… there’s brilliant exercise, such as it makes you prettier, stronger, faster, more coodinated vs. no-so-brilliant exercise… I live in a gym saturated city, must walk past 3 or 4 big “machine warehouse” establishments in a normal day… I see too many imbalanced bodies, especially overtight, too much upper body lat workout to create a Big Dude shape, we want well toned, lean muscle, balanced as a Ferrari V12, graceful, coordinated… what are these guys thinking ? Quit Wall Street and try a future in furniture moving ? 🆒 😕

so what’s a chap to do? pilates and some kind of martial art (but go easy on the knuckle press-ups and bone-splintering moves)?

you have to find the rare, exceptional teachers who bring a special awareness to what they are doing. I studied Tai Chi with Guang Je Ren years ago when he first came to the USA, then I had to change my life pattern, and he later emerges as David Bowie’s master teacher… life is so non-linear…

The uSurf made by the same company is also selling at a $250 discount to original price – stand and ‘surf’ to exercise the core instead of sit and ‘gallop’. Has anyone heard good or bad things about this product? I’d be much more inclined (no pun) to use a standing exercise machine than sitting.

the surfboard seemed to lightly built to survive long adult use, and it is a bit monotonous… I will say that I enjoyed it for 5 minutes while testing all other exer-machines in the store… assuming that it retains its original mechanical integrity it might be a nice adjunct for coordination and stability… my fave way of dealing with this particular motor skill is a thing called a **Bosu Ball** , it is a hemisphere inflatable ball on a heavy circular platic base, the trick is to moderately underinflate it so it is almost squish and hard to stand on, and do barbell reps while standing on that… yowza ! 😉

Thanks, I’ve wondered about this. Did a net search and found that the commercial version is only selling for 5 dollars more than the home version!

Walgreens is selling home version for 99 dollars

This site is selling home version for 96 dollars
and the commercial version for 105 dollars

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Vibrated Mice Form More Bone And Less Fat Science sometimes turns up weird results. [Clinton T. Rubin has discovered that placing mice on vibrating plates for short periods of time strengthens bones and decreases fat.](http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/30/health/research/30bone.html?_r=1&ref=science&oref=slogin)
Dr. Rubin, director of the Center for Biotechnology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, is reporting that in mice, a simple treatment that does not involve drugs appears to be directing cells to turn into bone instead of fat.
All he does is put mice on a platform that buzzes at such a low frequency that some people cannot even feel it. The mice stand there for 15 minutes a day, five days a week. Afterward, they have 27 percent less fat than mice that did not stand on the platform — and correspondingly more bone.
Bone marrow accumulates fat as we age. Should we sit in vibrating plates a few times a week to maintain bone health and reduce fat? This could become the next weight loss rage.
Rubin has spent years investigating why bones decay with age and found that more intense impacts don’t appear to be the biggest cause of increases in bone strength. This led him in the direction of looking at low frequency vibrations.
Over the years, he and his colleagues discovered that high-magnitude signals, like the ones created by the impact as foot hits pavement, were not the predominant signals affecting bone. Instead, bone responded to signals that were high in frequency but low in magnitude, more like a buzzing than a pounding.
That makes sense, he went on, because muscles quiver when they contract, and that quivering is the predominant signal to bones. It occurs when people stand still, for example, and their muscles contract to keep them upright. As people age, they lose many of those postural muscles, making them less able to balance, more apt to fall and, perhaps, prone to loss of bone.
Rubin suspects that the vibrations send signals to stem cells to tell them to become bone cells rather than fat cells.
The US National Institutes of Health are sufficiently intrigued to fund a large study to see if this effect works on elderly people.
If this can work in humans the optimal frequency and intensity might take some work to discover. Some frequencies and intensities might even cause harm. So think twice before you start constructing your own vibrating plate for weight loss.
I’m reminded of those electric vibrator belt machines where people lean into the belt which is connected to an electric motor on a pedestal. The sellers of those machines are derided as con artists selling junk. But maybe those machines provide some real benefit?
I also wonder whether operating machinery that vibrates your body (e.g. tillers, jack hammers, saws, even some ride mowers and motorcycles) might help keep bones strong and fat off.

Any feedback on this since I have been seriously considering to buy one. All YouTube videos seem to be some type of teenage pranks or adults without much semblance of intelligence.
