I’ve already said hi [in this thread](https://pheromonetalk.com/t/greetings/7980/1), and you can fine some basic info about who I am and what I’m looking for there, too.

So, my order arrived today. Wonderfully quick, from CA to eastern Europe (ordered Thursday, arrived Monday)! It would have been even quicker if it wasn’t for the weekend, according to the tracking info.

Here’s what I got. In each case I bought the smallest quantity available - in other words, to go phials, when they were available, full bottles otherwise:

- Instant openness (30ml)
- Instant honesty (to go)
- Instant shine (to go)
- Instant female magic (to go)
- Alpha A314 (10ml - i.e. full bottle)
- Ammo (to go)
- Turn up the heat (to go)
Now… the funny this is that, upon opening the package, I could smell a fairly strong scent. I guessed that that would be normal, but as I explored a bit more, I discovered a tiny bit of moisture. One or two of the to go bottles were a tiny bit open - it was possible to click the lid on a bit tighter . For a while I was thinking - great, I have a leak, but which one??

Finally, I noticed that that TUTH phial wasn’t entirely full, although the label assures me that it should also be 5ml. The result is that it looks like about 1.5ml of TUTH escaped. Oops! The thing is that I’ll have a client… a female client… visiting me in this very room in about 30 mins 🙂. There’s some on my hand, and I can’t wash it off since - I know, this sounds like a farce! - the water mysteriously stopped running about 30 mins ago!! I think they’re working on the mains outside.

I ordered TUTH just as a ‘why not?’, and I definitely wasn’t planning to use it around clients … but… well… we’ll see…

I think I’ll put on a spray of IFM anyway. This is going to be my test [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/) for the next week or so (I’ve decided just now).

Hey now Flamingo I know lightning fast when I see it and that’s precisely why we switched to DHL.

You know I am actually not surprised that you got a to go bottle that had a bit leak out. We actually have found that it wasn’t a bad bottle shipment as we suspected at all. I mean these little bottles are FDA approved.

I took one and froze it then defrosted it then froze it again for a series of like six times. I even submerged it in hot water and dragged it behind my truck for a mile. I kid you not!

Couldn’t get it to leak. So after all the testing we found out two things. One of our shippers wasn’t screwing the cap on. That problem is no longer going to be happening as I am employing a QC check and balance.

The other one was over filling. Where we would love to give more than just .5ml as we love you, it just breaks the seal and makes a mess.

Don’t you worry about that client, you’ll do terrific with your bad self.

SteveO, thanks for your comments. I’m glad to hear about the abuse that these little bottles can take - I’ll feel a bit safer carrying them in my pocket 🙂.

Yep, shipping was super fast. I figure if it wasn’t for the weekend interruption, I’d have ordered on Thursday and gotten it on Saturday, which is unbelievable, considering I’m 9 timezones away!

The smell I got when I opened the package was neroli, and after a bit of forum-searching I found out that TUTH doesn’t contain neroli. So I don’t know where that stuff went (maybe it spilled too, but was masked by the spilled neroli?). Now I don’t really care about the missing TUTH, it’s not something I’ll be focussing my experiments on 🙂. After a while, though, I noticed that a bit was missing from the IFM bottle too (less than 1ml). What’s weird is that… it doesn’t have a scent either!

So we have evidence of 2 spillages, but the smell that was all over the bottles was neither of them… and all the neroli scented ones were full to the top… Which is why your explanation about overfilling is obviously right - some neroli-scented pheromone was overfilled. I don’t know what happened to the other two, but it might have been a loose cap, as you said.

Anyway, all’s well that ends well (I assume it ended well - hopefully no DHL workers were disturbed by the strangely seductive envelope…)

14 January 2008

First of all, today’s results might be meaningless, since there was an unknown mix of pheromones on my hands, due to the in-package leak, combined with the fact that the water was switched off at the mains due to some ongoing work - so I couldn’t wash the mix off!

What I **deliberately** applied was:

- a bit more than 2 full (not to go) sprays of **Instant Openness** (= about 30 mcg of pheromones), on the wrists
I say a bit more than 2 sprays, because the first spray from the bottle was a bit tentative and not much came out. Plus one full spray; and then a bit later (after the client meeting), I added another spray, a bit less than full. How’s that for inexact dosing?

I felt the neroli scent was a bit strong, and my perception of it didn’t fade much. But at least it provided a useful way of telling when I was inhaling my own pheromones accidently.

So the session with the client was interesting, and a bit different from usual. It started about 30 mins after I sprayed on the pheromones. We talk mainly about pronunciation and accent training, so as we go through the various sounds of English, I often ask her to say “hhhhhh” or “iiii”, so that I can point out various features of her speech, but she’s quite shy and restrained, and she usually refuses point blank to make ‘meaningless’ noises. She’ll say the sound in the context of the sentence, but it’s harder to isolate and diagnose there. Anyway, today this problem was almost absent, which hasn’t happened before. This seems to be the kind of effect that might be expected from Instant Openness. Interesting, because it was such a clear change - I didn’t imagine it 🙂.

She was also more smiley and (to invent a word) laughy than usual, but that’s not a very convincing sign on its own.

One thing that I did notice was the pheromone’s effect on me. I felt somehow more natural and ‘confident’ - I never thought ‘damn, how will I explain this’. It seems I was a bit less self-reflexive and more immersed in the conversation. Probably I got such a strong self-effect (if that’s what it was) because of the way I was sitting, with my hands generally in my lap (with a notepad), and often leaning forward. I could smell the fragrance quite a lot.

Incidentally, just after she came in, after taking off her coat etc., she seemed maybe a bit confused or surprised. In fact, she even wrinkled her nose - something I was quite aware of at the time, although in fact she often does this. I wonder if it wasn’t a bit out of place, though, since it wasn’t in response to anything I’d said - I was just following her in. Perhaps she doesn’t like neroli 🙂.

In between the meetings, I topped up with a full spray to the wrists. This is the same extra spray I mentioned above in the section on dosage.

Second meeting, about 4 hours after initial application and 2 hours after the top up: My landlord came on his monthly visit. He’s a nice guy and we usually chat a bit. It’s also good language practice for me (BTW, I talk with my clients in English, but not him). Anyway, he was on his way home from work and there were no real issues (with the property) that we needed to talk about, so he didn’t stick around to chat too long. But… well, I was chatting a bit more than usual. Not too much, but enough that **I** noticed. Great! So Instant Openness can apparently help me speak more confidently in the language - which suggests that it will be useful with my clients too - some of the need encouragement to speak English, and until now, I’ve had only interpersonal skills to help them 😃. I dove into new topic with less consideration and planning than usual.

So basically, I inhaled a lot more Androstenol than any of my ‘targets’! I have to remember not to bend over my wrists and sit up straight 🙂.

Tomorrow I have 3 appointments in the evening. I think more ‘openness’ would be useful in at least 2 of them. We’ll see, and I’ll report…

15 Februrary 2008

I visited three clients tonight. Much food for thought.

After washing my hair I applied a little bit more than two spray of [Instant Openness](https://a314.com/product/instant-openness/) (1x strength 30ml bottle): one to the wrists, and one and a bit to my hair. The sloppy dosing (2 and a bit - was probably nearer 3) is due once again to being unfamiliar with the bottle, and wondering ‘was that really a full shot?’. Silly - I’ll learn eventually.

That was about 4pm. The first meeting was at 6pm, so I should have waited a bit, since by the time of the last meeting, the 6 hours dose duration was beginning to elapse (and the effects seemed less strong).

During the first meeting, it’s possible that the client was more chatty than usual, but I couldn’t be sure it was significant. What I did notice - again - was the self-effect. It was similar to yesterday, but this time (and in the following meeting), it was a specific enough - and unusual enough - feeling that I now feel more confident in identifying it as a self-effect to the IO. Also, it wasn’t so present in the final meeting, which might be attributed to the effect wearing off after approximately 6 hours.

The self-effect initially didn’t seem to be quite what I’d expect from IO, but on reflection, it makes sense. Basically, I felt more confident in directing the meeting, and more able to answer any challenging questions. Not once did I have any negative thoughts, or felt that the things I said were inadequate (this usually doesn’t seriously bother me, but I can often feel such thoughts lurking somewhere). The ‘solidness’ of this confidence which is a very specific and unfamiliar feeling - if a subtle one - combined with the fact that it happened both yesterday and today, make it pretty clear what the cause of it is.

Although not immediately obvious, I think these effects do have something to do with the reported effects of Instant Openness. Basically, my inhibitions to speaking (which I experience as uncertainty and a potential lack of confidence) are removed.

I was also in a very good mood for the whole evening, which mightn’t have been the pheromones themselves, but my reaction to feeling more confident, etc.

The second and third meetings were very similar, except that the self-effects were less pronounced. The interesting thing is that with the last client I normally feel completely relaxed and in control and competent, and I did this time too - but I was also aware that the _pheromone_ component of the confidence was weaker. In other words, if I’m not hallucinating, the effect of the pheromones feels like a particular thing, has a particular taste. I’m sure of this, because although it’s quite subtle, I’ve never felt it before these experiments started.

Some other things which didn’t strike me at the time, but on reflection seem interesting.

Pushing through a crowded tram to get off, muttering ‘sorry’, I heard one guy - seemingly a young guy, not some ultra-polite old man - say in response… let’s translate it as ‘you’re welcome’. I hadn’t even looked at the guy, and I didn’t know who exactly had said it, at the time. I don’t remember that happening before, and it might make sense that some random bystander’s tongue was loosened in this way, but it’s also possible that I heard it because I was looking (listening) for hits.

Thia last one seems quite impressive in retrospect. The second client (a girl) and the third (a guy) share an apartment, and I visited them there. I meet them separately, in that order (her, him). With both these clients we usually discuss a text - that is, we use the text as a starting-point for discussing various aspects of grammar, vocab, pronunciation, etc. In theory we can use a free-form chat to do the same thing, but using a text is more reliable. Anyway, she had a text ready, although it was one that she wasn’t so interested in (I knew from the subject - it was more his style). Contrary to the plan, she suggested that we not use the text and just chat. Looking back, it seems obvious why…

Here’s the impressive thing. When I went to him, he hadn’t got a text, and I pointed out that if he wanted a text that would be right up his street, we could we the text from his friend. He said ok, went and got it, read it with interest… and then said… uh, maybe we’ll just chat.

Wow. That’s never happened before, with _either_ of them 🙂

Tomorrow, I’ll try 3 shots. I’ve a long meeting with one client in the evening.

Interesting that I report mainly self-effects. According to the Myers-Briggs system, I’m an INTP (hi renny!), with high I (introvert) score. This might help describe what kind of person I am. One of the things that you’d expect from an INTP is that they are more likely to be lost in an internal world. Certainly I find that I usually am, so I’m probably just not very observant of other people’s behaviour.

Hello flamingo,
Nice interesting journal, extensive observations. When are you going to try the other stuff you bought? I can’t wait to hear your reports on them.

Hi right back at you! I was thinking as I read your journal over the first few posts that you saw things in a way familiar to me. Now I know why. Remember the last part, perceiving, we see the world, internalize and think about it then often make intuitive leaps. It is expression that presents the problem. Well, I think you are ahead of me in depth of expression.

I feel much the same way about [Instant Openness](https://a314.com/product/instant-openness/). Without it I often echo something I have said over and over in my head, considering even the inflection that I used, wondering if it was said well. Since using pheromones that doesn’t seem to happen as much any more. My speech feels very “solid”. I didn’t realize that until I read your post.

Keep up the good work!🙂

kusro:
Thanks for the kind words, but… don’t tempt me!! Around the time I made my order, I read posts by both patratt and renny about how they shoulda tested methodically… so I decided to try to get a feel for each one separately. Probably I’ll try one a week… which seems terribly slow, but I’d really like to know how the effect varies with different strengths. I mean tomorrow I should be on 4 shots of openness (eek!). In fact, ideally… if I had infinite patience, I’d repeat the experiment (of sticking to a single phero and increasing the dose daily)… but… I don’t 🙂

You mentioned in one of the first posts of yours that I read that you were an INTP - so I wasn’t surprised by the similarity. Your description of being introverted, but training yourself to be more outgoing was something that resonated with me. As a child, I remember looking in a mirror and trying to make my face expressive like other people’s 🙂.

Yes, expression (for people like us) is something you have to make an effort to develop.

Uuh… maybe in verbosity 🙂

Yes, exactly! That’s precisely the feeling that I was experiencing before. I’m not sure if this mental review is because of a feeling of uncertainty, but it certainly tends to make me more uncertain about what I’ve said and what I’m going to say (because if you feel like your next utterance is following up on a badly communicated message, you start to get lost…)

16th January 2007

Once again, it’s mostly self-effects! I’m trying hard to pay attention to other people, but… I’m not used to it 🙂.

Dosage: 3x instant openness (1x strength, from a 30ml bottle). One one wrists, one on back of neck (I’m not afraid of the self-effects anymore), and one on my hair.

I was looking in the mirror as I sprayed it on my hair. Noticed that a fair bit of the spray bounced and floated up and away. In future, I should probably crouch, apply, and raise my head into the ‘cloud’. Although maybe that wouldn’t make it stick. Maybe spraying more horizontally would help. Anyway.

So, tram rides and errands around town: I felt like making comments to one or two people (unusual), but was prevented by the slowness of my Polish grammar-mangling machine. Here I am screwing the grammatical endings onto the words and arranging things so it doesn’t sound like mindless drivel, and… the person it’s intended for has already gone 🙂. This is a common problem, of course. But often I feel nervous about talking to others (even in Engish), and this was quite absent today.

Since I was only wearing instant openness, this can’t count as a hit, but it shows that I’m paying more attention to social interaction: nice girl gets on the tram, talking on her mobile (cellphone). Our eyes lock for a while, then she looks away (continuing the conversation). As I’m getting off the tram, I pass in front of her, going out via the front door. She stares at me again, she seems interested - like this is her chance to look at me (I was behind her during the journey). Quite long eye contact, which I maintain, but forget to smile. Oops 🙂.

In the English language library, I’m more chatty than usual with the staff. Usually I say nothing more than the functional. Really, playing with these goodies and reading everyone’s reports makes me see what a robot I am in ordinary everyday interactions!

Long meeting with client. It’s the first meeting of the new year, and our meetings are _supposed_ to involve working through some materials to develop her vocab (her English is really great, she’s very competent - but you can always expand your vocab). But typically, after work she’s tired and prefers to chat - and (considering her level), this is also great for her, since it provides her with regular contact with English.

So, not surprisingly, given her tendencies, the fact that it’s the first meeting in a while, and (presumeably) the [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/), we just chat (really, I have a great job 😃). OK, not only chat - we work too, but the chat is the raw material we work with.

Differences from usual chat sessions? Again, subtle. Confidence, comfort in talking. I guess she was affected too, since the verbosity was on both sides. Lots of jokes, some ‘mindreading’ (we know each other quite well by now), lack of sense that time was dragging, pauses that might have been ‘awkward’ weren’t.

Tomorrow: three hours of evening sessions. According to my plan, I’ll be trying 4 sprays. If there are negative effects, I’ll stop increasing (I think Sunday and Monday will be my days off, but not sure). I’m not so sure I want to be sitting in a room with a client on Saturday smelling like an orange grove thanks to 6 sprays of IO…

Now, I’ve got to get my social life in order. Can’t be meeting just clients all the time (lovely though they are). All for the purpose of experimenting, of course… 😃

Flamingo, you’re doing great with your testing. Instead of ramping up to six sprays at once I would suggest that you try 2 sprays in the morning, 2sprays after lunch and two sprays to go out in the evening. That way you will kind of feel the effect go up and down but increase gradually all day as well.

Can I suggest that when you choose your next product to test that you try Ishine? It was the most difficult one for me. I think it will be a good one to get you looking outward. Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t seem to work for a few days. It will make people like being around you and that is hard to see at first.

That way of distributing 6 sprays makes a lot of sense. As opposed to a lot of scent, which is a worry for me. I don’t normally perfume myself, so it might attract attention from those who know me!

IShine might indeed be a good idea to try next.. In fact, I think I have a clue about what openness does, and I feel almost ready to move on. I’ve heard it’s almost impossible to OD on androstenol (unless you count spaceland…), but I wonder if the effects are pretty constant throughout the (say) sub-50 sprays range? :-). So I’ve seen basically the same effects for 2, 3 and 4 sprays. Is there some suggestion that the effect changes as you get higher? I haven’t even noticed the strength of the effects increase, to be honest.

OK, but about shine: if it can help me to look outwards, then it’ll be an excellent preliminary to further testing. I’ve mainly noticed self-effects so far, and I’m almost blind to what’s happening out there.

I don’t mean that the self effect will help you look outward. To see the effects of Ishine on those around you, you will be forced to look outward. Once you see an expression change, and know you did it, you will see it more and more. Ishine is good at changing expressions. Just my 2 cents anyway. Good luck!

17th January 2008

Very quiet day today.

4x [Instant Openness](https://a314.com/product/instant-openness/): hair, chest, back of neck, wrists.

Again, half of the spray seemed to bounce off my hair. It was tied back at the time, and I sprayed it at the top surface. Might be better to let it down and spray it into the mass of hanging hair that will become the top surface when it’s tied back.

Some changes in schedule, so only one client today. Again, did some errands. I didn’t mention the details yesterday, but I get into a bit of a mess trying to renew my public transport ticket yesterday. This is a magnetic strip (I think) card that they put some data on, which says ‘this is a valid ticket on all routes until such a date’. After they loaded my transport card with the 3-month ticket, I tried to pay with credit card, which they couldn’t accept (!). I didn’t have cash to cover it (I originally intended to get a 1 month ticket, and pay with cash), so they kept my card, I thought until I could pay for the ticket on it. Today, they told me ‘no no, we sent it away to get the ticket removed, and we’ll have it back in a week’.

Anyway, what has this to do with instant openness? That’s what I’m wondering. Basically, in my conversation with them yesterday, I wasn’t nearly as stressed as usual about making sure I understood (remember, this is in a foreign language, and I’m just a learner). For example, when I couldn’t hear what she was muttering (there was a screen in the way with the intercom turned **off** ), I asked her to repeat again and again and again, saying I couldn’t hear her, until I got the gist. Normally this would stress me out quite a bit. Yesterday I was completely calm. Unfortunately, I also calmly and quite wrongly understood what they were telling me. To be honest, I had no idea what they said when they were explaining that I should come back in a week - I just guessed they wanted me to come back when I could pay!

So, I don’t think this is necessarily such a bad negative effect of Instant Openness. But it does mean I need to be a bit more vigilant when listening to people. No problem in English, but in Polish I really need to pay more attention. But that will be easier with the calming effects of IO. All this hassle about the ticket didn’t bother me in the slightest. I guess having confidence in what you’re saying (which is the effect of IO on me, basically) goes a long way to disrupting other social neuroses - great news!

The meeting today: very chatty, very nice, lasted longer than it should have and neither of us minded.

Random event: walking by a bus stop with one guy waiting at it. He’s standing looking down at the pavement, but as I pass his head jerks up and he says ‘time?’. I tell him, but I think we were both a bit surprised 🙂

Right, renny, I think I understood you. In order to see more than just self-effects, I need to look outwards. If shine can help me to do that (by whatever means), that’ll be great. I know, it’s not all about self effects 😃.

Great report! I just started using pheros about a week ago and have already noticed some results that are similar to what you report…but mine have been coming from IS. I just got instant openness yesterday and can’t wait to test it out. Like yourself I have a tendency to be quite introverted but this past week I have been happier, more approachable and much more talkitive. Normally I experience anxiety before approaching people or starting conversations but IS seems to be tempering that anxiety just enough for me to open my mouth and talk to people. I will say the anxiety still exists but it is greatly diminished. I used to take anti-depressants and can say without a doubt that this stuff works better. I am trying not to use it everyday though because I don’t want to build tolerance to it.

I think im going to try instant openness by itself next to see what differences I notice, but from what you report it sounds like it has the effect I’m looking for. Oh and btw I have the double strength to-go version of instant shine and have mainly been using one spray. I’ve tryed 2 sprays and didn’t notice a great deal of difference but I will try 2 sprays a few more times and probably 3 sprays before I come to any conclusions. Thanks again for reporting!

Hi GuitarGuy, thanks for your comment! I’'ve just read some of your other postings, interesting results! Although I can’t say I’m a big fan of the fragrance of the instant line 🙂. Actually, it’s not bad, but I’m not looking forward to what I’ll smell like when I’m wearing 10 different sprays 🙂. That makes me think - the double-strength sprays have the same amount of fragrance per dose as the single-strengths, right? I mean one shot of 1x has the same fragrance strength as one shot of 2s, but twice the pheromones. Is that right, I wonder? It makes sense to me …

I tried shine today for the first time (mini-report below). Interesting that your shine results sound similar to my openness results. I guess the puzzle will be resolved when we realise that they’re just placebos… er, I mean, when each of us has gotten used to both products 🙂. I suppose that the effect will be subtly different. And of course, it’s not all about self-effect (that’s my mantra since starting testing).

Yep, I normally get anxiety about approaching people too. For me, [Instant Openness](https://a314.com/product/instant-openness/) reduces that by making me more confident about my ability to communicate. If Instant Shine provides a different route to confidence, so much the better.

18 January 2008

I took today off, pheromone-wise.

One client meeting, which was easy and fun. Like on the last meeting on the 15th, I could feel the absence of the subtle [Instant Openness](https://a314.com/product/instant-openness/) power.

19 January 2008

Two meetings today (I guess my weekend was yesterday and tomorrow 🙄 ).

- 2 sprays of Instant **Shine** (togo, 1x, v1.1). That’s 25 mcg of pheromones, mostly TAA. Application: one one wrists, one on back of neck
Effect: Nothing noticeable. Meetings were nice. The first was a couple that I get on really well with: We always end up laughing our heads off about something or other - no change today (phew!). Second meeting was fine too. I didn’t feel any difference in interpersonal interactions, but as renny commented, it mightn’t be anything visible. And I don’t expect that effects on others will be _immediately_ obvious to me.

The obligatory self-effects discussion: My mood was not in disagreement with the oft-reported description of feeling positive and uplifted. I started feeling quite nice after application, but clearly this could be my expectation. That’s why for the moment I say ‘not in disagreement’. I could argue that, although I didn’t feel the instant openness ‘no stress about speaking’ effect (although I wasn’t stressed…), there was a ‘no stress about social situations’ effect. I have no idea if I’m just making this up. One test isn’t nearly enough.

Oh, I noted that the scent is similar to instant openness, but not exactly the same. Presumably the effect of being mixed with a different base. I was trying to eat a yoghurt this morning, a few minutes after applying, but I was mainly getting big mouthfuls of pheremonic vapour. Mmm…

I had another incident that I realised might count as a mild hit… but I can’t recall it right now.

Renny (privately) confirms that the 2x sprays have 2x pheromones and 1x fragrance. Thanks for the info and reps 🙂.
