Because that, and a running nose, is usually the only way I can ever tell I’m sick, this happen to any of you? ☹

It may be that what you experience as _depression_ is just your body’s way of saying, “Slow down and rest. You’re sick.” If you’re fighting that, you really can’t win and it may seem depressing. If that’s the only way you can tell, it’s pretty important signal!

One of the main reasons we get sick is because our body’s natural defenses are not working as well as they should.
The main reasons for this are lack of sleep, poor diet, lack of exercise, too much stress.
If you’re getting sick and you’re feeling down a lot of the time, check into all of those categories. Feed yourself right, get some exercise (meaning fresh air, not a gym), get plenty of rest and cut down on stress.

It’s funny you say that! I realized that usually when I get sick, my body is fighting something off, such as a cold, and it usually only lasts a day or two, but for the past 3-4 weeks, my diet has been wonderful (I know because I have a cronic condition which has almost completely disappeared, symptom-wise), I’ve been exercising outside every-other day (training to utilize bicycle as main mode of transportation, alot of cycling 😛), and I’ve had practically no stress in my life at all (and that’s not an exaggeration, I had an epiphany about quite a few things awhile ago, which has made everything much easier)..

So, as it turns out, my immune system has been even better than usual, and I only get sick, really sick with typical symptoms and all, every two years or so. A few people in my house had caught the flu recently, and at that same time, I started experiencing my typical, minor signs of sickness; however, as it turns out, the typical signs of sickness have lasted for an atypical amount on time, about a week now.

Which means my system is fighting off alot right now, and I’m still doing pretty well, up and down, but considering where I could have been this last week, I’d say I’m on the right track 😃

Typically a day or so before I get sick I start feeling run down, usually very sleepy, if I take the time to sleep I typically do not get sick, or I am not nearly as sick as if I do not take the time.

I have found taking a multi-vitamin and Garlic regularly through the winter helps keep me even healthier, I typically only have a cold or two a winter.

YES. Sleep is so important.
If I cannot get a good sleep in when I’m ill, I do not get better for a long time. But if I can just sleep away that first day that I’m sick, all better tomorrow.

It really should be restful sleep, though. Not medication induced, if you can help it.

Garlic is wonderful. And you can do amazing things to heal your body with hydrogen peroxide. It is safe, cheap and incredible.

About two days ago my body finally succumbed to symptoms, I can barely stand I’m so dizzy, it’s a challenge to even write this. Turns out it’s most likely the H1N1 virus. \>\_\<

This stinks, I’m telling ya! And, on top of that, I have a doctors appointment on Monday with an oral surgeon, I need to have surgery for all four of my wisdom teeth, I might have to cancel the consult until further notice, which sucks, because they have been a source of pain as well lol, wow…

H1N1 can be fought off with the same natural remedies that you would use for any other type of flu.
Do you use herbs at all?
Or essential oils? These are powerful weapons, and much safer than pharmaceutical remedies.

I have a large assortment of medicinal herbs, but I tend to shy away from using them when I am sick, I prefer preventative treatment, when it comes to the herbs which I’ve come accustomed, because I like very much to avoid self medication during a time of vulnerability. I have an alternative doctor, who is also a doctor of modern medicine (PhD), and I also have a general practitioner, so I know I’m in good hands. I utilize both professionals when it comes to my bodies illnesses.

I did manage to start feeling better today though, without using any kind of meds through the whole ordeal. And I’ve only experienced actual flu symptoms for about four days! Thank goodness for my immune system. 🙄

Whenever I have the flu, the doctor just tells me to rest and get plenty of fluids. If it’s a virus, there’s really nothing else you can do.

Actually, that’s not so.

There is little that modern medicine can do to fight virus, because most of the things they prescribe are anti-biotic or anti-bacterial, not anti-viral.
Nature has made many many things that fight virus, and some of them are things you’d recognize from your own kitchen, such as onion and garlic, green tea, cranberry juice, apple juice. Other common ones are coconut oil and cod liver oil. There are so many that listing them here would be silly. But the information’s out there for anyone who’s interested in searching it out. Getting and staying healthy doesn’t have to be expensive or inconvenient.

Rest and fluids are important, too. 🙂
And if you’re stuffy, avoid dairy and bananas. They increase mucous production, making you feel more stuffed up.

the best way to avoid getting sick is not to get fully exposed,

Wash you hands, with soap and water, early and often, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

So, it seems that my body fought off the influenza, but now I seem to have developed another condition, because I’ve had a fever for about two weeks straight, and my symptoms switched\changed a day after I thought I was getting better, everything except my fever.

And, thing is, I take herbal supplements and vitamins daily for a chronic intestinal condition which makes my insides feel like they are being torn apart 24/7, the vitamins and herbal supplement fixes this. I take 2000mg of Vitamin C daily, 2000mg of Fish Oil daily, One-a-Day multivitamin, and 50,000 IU (12,500% daily value) of Vitamin D3, weekly. The values were determined by my doctor, through blood analysis, and it eliminates my chronic issue.

Reason I bring this up, is that I noticed the suggestions about vitamins, and I can’t mess with the values without consulting my doctor, because I don’t want the pain to come back, and when your sick your body needs to utilize it’s own resources, and my body has been fighting off illness for about a month now, it seems that my body is now dipping into the only thing I have to stop the pain of my condition. ☹

I forgot how damaging this condition really is, because I’ve been free of it for many months, well, I remember now. And on top of that, I’m still sick. I really need to see a doctor, I’m seeing one tomorrow. I feel like I’m losing my mind. So yeah, I’m still not better, and I just got a whole bunch of new pheros in, oh, and best of all Franko called too but I can’t see him because of all this madness, talk about kicking someone when they’re down ☹

\*Sigh

Wow. Sounds like a lot going on for you. I hope the Dr visit goes alright and they can sort things out so you feel better.

I can totally relate do feeling depressed when I get sick. Whenever I get anything (even as simple as a cold) I get very depressed feeling. Literally to the point that if I would let it get to me, I’d get suicidal. I know that sounds dramatic but it is true. I’m old enough now to know what is going on and that it will pass when the illness does but when I was a kid it was miserable.
