A hat-tip to Mark-in-Dallas who recommended this place to me.

Many of us are on a budget, especially with the economy being what it is. Some of Androtics’ stuff can be pricey, so when considering what pheros to purchase and what colognes you’d like to try, there’s often a conundrum. There are plenty of reviews of high-priced fragrances on here, and one that’s piqued my curiosity is Green Irish Tweed by Creed. Depending on where you get it, a 4 oz. bottle can run from around $150 on up to $250.

This is a very exclusive cologne that was originally designed for Cary Grant back in the 80’s. Since then, it’s become a favorite of Hollywood and even British Royalty. Prince Charles of Wales is reported to wear it. Some of you have it already, but others, like me, are left to remain curious until the Money Fairy blesses us with the extra cash to pony up for a bottle.

Let me interject that nothing beats the real thing. Absolutely nothing. So, what I’m recommending here is a fairly decent knock-off scent that I’ll say smells about 85-90% like the real deal. One caveat I should mention is that I’ve only smelled genuine GIT from one of those peel-apart sample cards, similar to what you see in magazines when I was in Nordstrom’s a few months ago. Fresh from the bottle is going to be different than a card that isn’t sealed in an airtight container and could be a couple of months old.

Having said that, I turned to a place called The Common Scents (google it, since I’m not sure if forum rules allow direct linking to other businesses), after Mark-in-Dallas recommended it to me. I ordered a bottle of their version of Green Irish Tweed for a whopping 2 dollars and change. It’s a fragrance oil that comes in a roll-on bottle.

It arrived today and when I smelled it from the bottle, I was a bit disappointed. To me, it smelled like bubble-bath. Still, knock-off or not, fragrances tend to alter their characteristics when applied to the skin, so I rolled an inch on the back of my hand and let it dry. 5 minutes later, I sniffed, and while it still had the bubble-bath undertones, I could detect a metamorphisis taking place. The sharp sweetness began to dull as more of the subtle notes started to come through.

15 minutes later and it was VERY close to the sample card I smelled. I even let my roommate (AKA, my ex-wife) take a whiff and her reaction was “Oooh, that smells good.” So, my disappointment turned to pleasure and I have to say I am happy with this.

Once again, I cannot stress how much this is _ **NOT** _ a replacement for the real deal, and I’m sure connoisseurs will know the difference pretty easily. However, it’s a great smell that’s close enough to the real thing that you can get away with saying that’s what you’re wearing, while chalking up the difference in notes to body chemistry, and it fits just about any budget. Give it a shot! If you don’t like it, you’re out less than a Venti Cappucino at Starbuck’s, and you can feel free to PM me telling me I’m nuts. 😃

Oh, I forgot to mention they have a HUGE selection. I also got Burberry Weekend and DKNY Be Delicious. I haven’t smelled the real ones yet, so I can’t really comment on how well they compare.

EDIT: Hmm… the knockoff Be Delicious smells just like the strip club I go to. No shit! LOL! Must be popular with the clientele, or whatever air freshener they use has similar notes to it. Guess I’ll leave that one on the shelf whenever I baste myself for a visit.

The oils sold at TCS are single-note fragrances (just the basenote), but for many people, that’s all they really need. I’ve tried some and think they’re pretty cool for what they are.

I prefer TCS’s version of Kenneth Cole’s Reaction to the real thing, the basenote smells the same to me and it lasts 10x longer on my skin than the original.

Thanks Dman! I agree, money is a problem with the way things are going and our love of [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/) doesn’t help either! However, I must say that I will give this a try! With an 11 month old son money can be tough, so this REALLY helps.

One quick question though, how long do the scents last? And are they strong enough to smell from a few feet (or inches away?)

Yeah, so this is the point where i’ma have to stop and ask WHY you thought to do a search for those key words… have we been getting lonely lately, Robbie? Cause if so, we can get that singles thread back up and running and see what we can do for ya. 😉

Touche, sir, touche. But i’m sure one day you too will be able to know the pleasures of giving it orgasms while having sex on the beach. 🆒 And for the record, the price came up as $0.00, so technically it’s free… the way i like it. 😃

I dunno, but I _ **did** _ order them just to find out what they smell like!

BTW, MFG, I was just browsing through the scent list when I saw those crazy names (I woulda never thought to search for “pussy” or “orgasm” there). Doing a search is the easiest way to tell somebody else how to find it… 😉

It took about a week and a half for mine to arrive, so depending on how far you are, it might take longer. Looking at my envelope, I see they ship from Spanish Fork, UT.
