Well I just found out that within the next couple of months I’ll be moving (within town). Good news is I’ll be closer to the Gym, Work, the bars etc so I can leave later and get home sooner which means I get to subject you all to my posts even more than I do now 😃
_waits for collective groans_

Bad news is I found out when I have just run dry my last purchase. So between the first months rent and deposit, plus the place is unfurnished so I’ll be buying all new shit (actually kinda stoked about that…my stuff is starting to look haggard) it’s gonna be a while before I post any new phero developments. I’ll still chime in with my own experiences on the consumer line but hopefully I won’t lose my RU status due to inactivity.
On the plus side, now that I’m a little better at spotting hits, this break should allow me to establish a new baseline by which to guage the effects of products and molecules when I get settled later.

Now, the real reason for me posting this. Again I have a couple of months. But I have no idea what new furniture to get. My bedroom is pretty set as I mentioned in another topic but I’m not against changing it. The living room and dining room however are going to be totally new.

I’d like input, especially from the ladies. Links to sites that sell furniture, pics of room sets to give me an idea of what kind of look I should go for would help as well.

I also want to get some art, just not sure if I should go with an urban Justin Bua/John Garibaldi type or more of a humorous rock and roll motif with some Michael Godard.

Anyway any and all input appreciated, if I follow your advice, pics of the finished product with thanks to whoever picked my furniture will be posted once I’m moved in.🆒

What kind of taste do you have? Modern, retro, neo-Victorian, art deco, Frank Lloyd Wright, mission…? What artists do you like? Do you prefer photography to paintings?

\*\*Haven’t got any of those, would an _“Ooooooh, waiting with bated breath (sigh)”_ do?
\*\*
Just wall art or sculpture as well? PNW has some unbelievable glass art. And I mean anything from less than a square inch to a couple of square feet. AND Dale Chihuly is only the best known; there are glass artists that blow him out of the water. Original wall stuff or signed and numbered prints? Wood furniture, ‘rustic’ (meh) or urban slick? Bauhaus or Chesterfield (meh on the Chesterfield) Furniture that dominates a space or contributes to your space? Fabric preferences - texture, I mean ? How much square footage are we talking about?

I tend to like both modern and art deco styles, I usually go for more black and white, glass and steel sort of look…with solid geometric lines. Thing is I’m just shy of 40 and I’m thinking it might be time to step out of that box a little and go for something a little more welcoming and not so “cold”? I guess.

I’d be a bit limited on space so wall art would be key, as I fear that standing art might simply clutter the limited space.

As for art, I have eclectic tastes now while I can’t afford originals certain prints I’ve considered were from Justin Bua

I’ve seen art like this at JoAnnes superstores and Target. Especially with art like that, I wouldn’t go for the cold glass/steel, black & white. Try real wood. (NOT particle board!) Mission and shaker styles have clean classic lines that would suit art deco and “modern” lines both, without having that pretentious-avant garde feel. (You know, the stuff that looks different just to look different.) See if you can find a discount furniture warehouse that sells discontinued items. There’s one here and I’ll be getting a NICE solid leather couch, new, for ~$300. (Cheaper and better quality than Ikea.) Go for simple, but soft, lines on upholstered furniture as well, rather than the ones that look like piles of sheep udders that are all too common. • [Baxter Leather Sofa Set w/ Down Seat Upgrade - 0357-setd](http://www.clubfurniture.com/baleapsosetw.html) • [Amazon.com: Simmons Santa Monica Vintage Leather Sofa: Home & Garden](http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-Santa-Monica-Vintage-Leather/dp/B003XEFPJG%3FSubscriptionId%3DAKIAIRQM2I5F2QXXSANQ%26tag%3Dbitterchoc-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB003XEFPJG) • [Brown Leather Match Contemporary Living Room Club Sofa - $1,199.00 :](http://www.couchessectional.com/sofa-sofa-beds-c-3/brown-leather-match-contemporary-living-room-club-sofa-p-70) These styles are classic and eternal. You can change the mood or apparent style over the years with a few pillows and throws, art, rugs, curtains, etc. Oh, and if you own a vacuum (I prefer to live without the dust, in hardwood-floored places), get a non-typical rug. An unusual shape, texture, color…NOT something that’s a fad, just more unique than the busy, tasseled, “Persian” rectangles, à la [Wanted: IKEA Red PS Round Rug - low pile. - Kingston Home/Garden Items For Sale - Kijiji Kingston Canada.](http://kingston.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-home-garden-IKEA-Red-PS-Round-Rug-low-pile-W0QQAdIdZ190731192) Good luck! You should get furniture and art that reflects who you are and your tastes. Things that make you feel safe comfy and good. I can tell you what I like and you could follow that advice but then it wouldn’t be an extension of you, it would be a extension of me.

I do have some advice though.

Dont rush to get it done. Of course you will want the essentials like a bed, a couch and a table to eat at but otherwise take your time and find pieces and accents that really speak to you.

Do not paint everything freaking white LOL. If you want warmth you want color. Dark colors are to heavy for walls they leave you heavy and without energy. I see you as pale greens with rich brown accents. Green represents growth peace and success. The rich browns represent earth grounding roots comfort.

When placing your bed. Put it where you can see the door while laying in bed. Not opposite of the door but off to one side of the room so that when you lay on your back you can see the door . I have a friend who is a feng shui master and I work with energy as well although not feng shui. She had a fit because you had to walk into my room and then turn to see the bed. We had to change the whole room around. If you cant place the bed that way place a mirror on the wall opposite the bed so the door is reflected in it.

This is will keep negative energy away and create balance so you sleep more soundly. I know it sounds silly, even I laughed at the way she reacted but I have to tell you, I do feel more at peace in there now and my husband even commented he slept better after we changed the room around.

Same thing if your gonna have a desk somewhere. Place it so when your sitting there your facing the door.

Do not clutter your furniture with accessories it blocks the flow of chi. Clutter is a big energy no no. It will drain you.

Furniture with hard sharp corners like a square coffee table brings bad chi. Rounded or oval corners bring positive energy as well as represents eternal life and harmony. She made replace my square tables. I only had a few because I know this from energy work though. Now my desk is square but I have lots of round accents on it to off set the negative chi.

I would pick up a book on feng shui. Since your just moving in you have a great opportunity to start with a clean slate and create a great warm inviting harmonious living space. Its a lot of work when you have to undo a place thats already done.

Tisha

See this is the kind of info I need.
For some perspective, this is the sort of look I would normally get.
[Living Room Furniture | Mor Furniture for Less | Sofas, Sectionals, Chairs, Tables](http://www.morfurniture.com/c_detail.aspx?ID=479&CatID=28&Group=10)
[Bedroom Furniture | Mor Furniture for Less | King Beds, Queen Beds, Dressers, Nightstands](http://www.morfurniture.com/c_detail.aspx?ID=454&CatID=27&Group=2)

which I’m starting to realize is very cold and hard. So the softer curves and warmer colors is something I’m really liking. It’s funny you mention green Tish. Green always seems to find it’s way to me. Irish heritage, birthstone, school colors, first car, hell even my favorite comic as a kid was green lantern. So it’s interesting that you perceive it being a color that suits me.

I get what you’re saying about clutter. I’m the type to have a few points of interest…conversation pieces really but not too much. My martial arts background gave me an appreciation for shibumi.

To Astrea.
I’m really liking what I see of Sam Fuller, you definitely got the idea of the kind of art I like.
The couches you chose look great but I should mention I live in north central cali and summers get well over a hundred degrees Fahrenheit here…so leather means every time you get up you sound like a fruit roll up being pulled off the plastic.

I like the Allure coffee table and matching end table.

Bedroom furniture can wait for now, but I will say that any bed MUST have posts of some sort…don’t ask why…but flat headboards won’t work for my…ummmm lifestyle.

I thought I got you with the Sam Fuller thing, the story of how he got noticed is AWESOME!!! A real pay it forward success story. I LOVE his stuff and look forward to buying. He’s DEFINITELY gonna be huge. 6 months ago, homeless more or less.

I avoided the leathers cos my home town’s the same or worse than that. The first few are the microfibre option. Which is easily kept clean and being an insulator, cool in summer to sit on and easy to warm in winter.

I just found it nutty that I found a site with just art deco style stuff on it. 😃 You could do lamps and mirrors from there, eventually.

I agree with Tisha about the Feng Shui and the green. Growth and prosperity and longevity. One of the many reasons Chinese culture holds **proper Jadeite** Jade in such high esteem. Just remember that dark woods will “emsmallen” (to quote the Simpsons 😃) the room, so be careful with optical effects. I love the lighter colored woods - like yellow cedar. Btw, green’s my color too. Does this mean we’re going steady now? I mean, we’ve spanked and everything . . . 😕

For smaller original artwork try this guy: [DonSimpson’s deviantART Gallery](http://donsimpson.deviantart.com/gallery/). This isn’t someone I suggest unless I know the person. But he’s an incredibly talented and prolific artist in a bunch of media. A lot of his stuff has shamanic overtones, except when they’re blatant. He’s in SF, btw. I’ve corresponded with him he’s such a cool dude. Have a look through his gallery and let me know if any of that appeals to you. I’m consumed with curiousity now. 😮

>
>
>
>
>

You’ve always been a true gentleman sir and an inspiration. I am sending you a special GC for your ongoing support of the community 🙂
