> I think its ridiculous that your hard won research was censured by moderators!

When research runs counter to claims made by others, either the research or the claims are likely to get censured–and it’s the claims on which marketer’s interests and income is based. I’m rather certain that the moderator’s censorship was inspired by the Forum administrator’s attitude, which was probably inspired by “soft” scientists who know very little about me or my “hard” science approach. The problem led me to this Forum, which presently allows a more balanced, and thus a more appropriate scientific approach. My antagonists on the other Forum have all but pushed me out, just as DrSmellThis attempted to do here…

Hmm, I seem to recall it to be mainly a head-butting battle between the two before mentioned parties. Both stubbornly thought only he and he alone could be right and afforded little license for differences of opinion. I saw the mud slinging as pretty evenly distributed. And when the moderators said time to knock it off, some folks didn’t know when to stop. The poor moderators had no choice but to delete the increasing hostile posts. The sad thing is most of the regular forum members didn’t really care who was right or wrong. Nobody choose sides but, instead, merely watched the titans do battle over nothing. We respected both warriors as professionals in their fields but the reality is few members really understood or cared about the fine points (or basics for that matter) of the science. We’re merely interested in new mixes to improve our professional, social and love lives. How and why it works and whose approach is discredited is of no consequence to the great unwashed.

Gegogi, you surprise me. It sounds like you’re willing to let the best marketer take your money, and I know from your posts that you’re intelligent and talented. When you teach someone to play, are you simply marketing your wares, or are you incorporating/integrating what you have learned about music? If someone tells your student that the key of A is the key of C, do you stand idly by thinking it doesn’t matter what anyone says?

I need to understand more about what drives people to purchase a pheromone-enhanced product based on marketing claims alone. If the majority of purchasers don’t care about the science, I’m wasting too much time on the Forums. No need for me to comment when someone says their product acts on the non-existent human VNO; no need to comment when the product contains pheromone analogues (but no pheromones); no need to attempt to discuss or debate any aspect either of the science, or of the concept of human pheromones.

I became interested in this thread when I read that people were complaining about how bad a product smelled–and finding others who agreed. Why is anyone buying/using a product that stinks? If your approach towards finding new mixes predominates, [pheromone research](https://pheromonelabs.com/) is a waste of time and money–as is discussion/debate. Would you be so cavalier if this were a discussion of music, and you expertly disagreed with what was being said?

It’s going to be difficult for me to understand why anyone interested in [pheromone products](https://a314.com/shop/) would not be interested in the science, but that’s because I’ve always been primarily interested in the science, not the products.

James, I think you already know the answer to this. Those of us playing with it are playing with the concentrations. It is of course aversive at the high concentrations it’s sold at. At much lower concentrations it exhibits different characteristics.

You are correct that this is not a consumer product. Someone who sprays this stuff on undiluted is in for an unpleasant experience.

Dilution of either a complex mixture, or a mixture with unknown components seems fruitless. Is anyone sure what components of the original copulin formula the concentrated product contains? If the acetic acid component is either missing, or at too high a concentration to start with–even if all other component concentrations are in accord with the original forumula–what you will be doing is making the product smell less like vinegar, but also less like any other component in the product mix. You may want it to smell less like vinegar, but more like its propanoic acid (sour milk) component.

I know your a busy guy but everyone here appreciates your posts and the time it takes to write them. There are of course going to be people that dont care how or why a product works but there are many who do.
I think your posts are important to this forum and hope you continue. You remind me alot of my brother. He is a scientist for exxon. He looks at the world through the eyes of science as well and while we dont understand each other we still appreiciate each other.

Thats simple, because were really left with no choice. No one has made a pure cop formula that works that they will sell other then EOW which stinks also. So were pretty much forced to try out different stinky brands to find one that works well for us. Despite the bad smell both EOW and the Industrial Yuck do work. Sure there are products like yours and Androtics that have cops in them that smell pleasant but some of us need and want a higher amount of cops then others. Plus we like the versitility of having them in a seperate bottle so we can control when we want to use them and when we dont.

Sadly it’s that way for most things. I’m a music professor and, while it’s obvious almost everyone likes and enjoys music, very few care to know about the underlying structure, theory, history or philosophy. And I actually do care to know something about the science of pheromones but I’d consider myself the exception rather than the rule this regard. And I must admit the scope of my understanding is limited to 101 level science courses. Nevertheless, most guys that hit this forum just wanta rub on some special sauce and get lucky fast.

If someone markets Barry White’s singing voice as an aphrodisiac, are you going to butt heads with them by trying to provide them with a bit more education on the topic of sensory input and behavioral reponses? If so, then what would you do if the administrator and moderators blocked your educational posts, leaving only posts that appear to be argumentative.

That’s why I asked, in different words: “Would you be so cavalier if this were a discussion of music, and you expertly disagreed with what was being said?”

The bastardization of any sensory science by marketers should not be so readily tolerated–regardless of one’s primary interests/profession. Next thing you know, someone tells you that jazz is guaranteed to get you all the sex you want, when you know that only jazz musicians get all the sex they want–not just anyone who puts on a recording. You’re left butting heads with people who only know how to put on a recording, and then they censure you. So, you go to a karaoke bar and sing a few country songs while sobbing in your beer. You attract a women, and decide to market your country singing style as a jazz “analogue,” knowing all the while that someone will market anything that they can say might lead to sex, whether or not it leads to anything other than another beer.

I’m rambling only because I’m a ramblin’ man who was not talented enough to be a jazz musician, ended up playing and singing on the Vegas lounge scene for two years, mostly top 40 and country. Egomaniacal jazz players always wanted to sit in on my gigs. I finally realized they were just there to pick up women. DrSmellThis may be the anonymous equivalent (in your profession) of someone who can put on a jazz recording, while telling you he’s an expert jazz musician–and that you’re not.

Thanks for your kind comment about the science.

Why do you think anyone needs a higher amount of cops, or any amount of cops not masked/cut/diluted in a fragrance-containing product? If we were discussing make-up and visual appeal, this would be like suggesting that putting ruby red lipstick all over your face (instead of just on your lips) would make you more appealing to men, because red lips signal estrogen-related fertility. Thus, the redder the better, and a red face is better than just red lips. I don’t think it works that way, either with make-up or with copulins.

Too confusing for me, but I’m just a man–one who doesn’t even wear make-up most of the time. Perhaps I’m doomed, like many other men who are confused about the nature of women’s courtship behaviors. Is she trying to get my attention by reapplying her make-up, or whatever was in that bottle? “Sorry miss, I must have intercepted or misinterpreted at least one of your signals.”

Most of the women here are well aware of the amount of copulins that work for each of them as an individual, some of the group here have been using products for years.

I too agree that it is nice to have straight copulins to control usage and amount with which products I choose to wear and when. Suggesting that we’re going overboard with a clowned lipstick comparison strikes me as ridiculing and arrogant. 😠

I have used and enjoyed most of the copulins containing products, EOW is indeed the power house of them all. Because _I am able to control the dosage and have found what is effective for me_. I’m not daring enough to attempt to use industrial strength copulins. While Scent of Eros is a great product _for everyday wear_, it didn’t garner the jaw dropping reaction I am looking to cause my husband by using pheromones when I wish to do so. Adding eow to my own personal mix has. Sans the make up and clown shoes. 😃

We are all different, one standard amount of copulins in any product is not going to work for every woman.

That said, I would love to purchase an effective straight copulins product that doesn’t smell like asiago moldering in a monkey cage at the zoo or has a hazmat warning on the label.

Some women really don’t have any nice copulins of their own, due to age, hysterectomy, longterm birth control pill use, or just luck of the draw (not all women produce cops all the time).

Not all men can detect tiny amounts, or heavily fragranced (like Scent of Eros) amounts, of copulins.

While a consumer-ready prefragranced product like Scent of Eros has wide appeal, it doesn’t necessarily suit the needs of all women all the time. The fragrance itself limits its application. For the woman who needs a higher dose of copulins, the fragrance will reach overkill level.

Most of us here who use copulins also prefer to supply our own fragrance cover and have a wide array of scents to do it with. Fresh-n-fruity SoE is a pleasant daytime scent but not the scent of choice for most of us.

> Phil Stone is a remarkable chemist, and he made the copulin formula work by carefully adjusting the added fragrance while diluting the formula to a point where the mix reminded both me and Bruce of a T-shirt worn by a young fertile woman for 3 nights. That’s why Scent of Eros For Women is “true to life.” I’m also one of very few researchers who had the opportunity to smell the formulation Astrid used. So, first I knew what to shoot for when I first smelled it on the young fertile woman, and after Bruce smelled the preserved T-shirt, so did he. As I recall, it took more than a year, and many sample mixes before Phil, Bruce, and I agreed on the final mix.

I am wondering isn’t Phil Stone of the Stone Labs also the manufacturer of EW ([http://pherolibrary.com/pheromone-guide/products/womens/essence-of-woman.htm](http://pherolibrary.com/pheromone-guide/products/womens/essence-of-woman.htm)). Is it the same copulin formula as used by Jutte only more concentrated? Why the difference in his scent sensibilities for the two products SOE/w and EW??

I vaguely recall that users asked for concentrated copulins, perhaps thinking --as many do–that more is always better. Phil knows this is not true, but might have been convinced to manufacture something based only on demand. I also recall comparing “different” copulin formulas, so I don’t know if he used Astrid’s formula (taken from work by RP Michael) in any other product besides SoE For Women.

> Most of us here who use copulins also prefer to supply our own fragrance cover and have a wide array of scents to do it with. Fresh-n-fruity Scent of Eros is a pleasant daytime scent but not the scent of choice for most of us.

Thanks for making several excellent points. I’ve tried to form a mutually beneficial partnership with two different women who indicated their interest in doing so, because I recognized the need to get input/feedback from at least one trusted female associate. I think that such opportunities are forthcoming, but maybe I’ll learn enough here to better recognize the woman’s perspective.

I apologize. I’ve been working on a presentation to better show ways that women try to look like they smell good, lipstick being only one way. I should not have gone overboard with it.

I’m not sure if the straight formula can be made to smell any better; but the short-chain fatty acid content suggests this would be difficult, because the overall effect is to produce a “stronger” acidic substance. As I recall, people were complaining that it ate through the rubber dropper caps.

It actually doesn’t smell bad to me when dilute. The “hazmat” properties seem to come mostly from the extreme concentration.

I did replace the dropper cap on mine with a plastic cap, anticipating problems with the dropper. I’ve been wondering about decanting it into a glass bottle. Has anyone had any trouble with the plastic of the bottle, or is that sufficiently impervious to the acid.
