Anyone knows how to filter messages to different folders in hotmail and if it is possible, like filtering pherotalk and androtics mails for a phero subfolder, university mail to university subfolder, family mail to family subfolder instead of having everything on the inbox?

Hey, welcome back!! 🙂

I had to go look, but in the column on the left where it says inbox, sent, etc, scroll all the way down, and you’ll see “manage folders”. Click on that, then click “new” and make the new folders.

Nahh that I know 🙂

What I wanted is to prefilter my msgs when they arrive to these folders. So instead I having everything on the inbox, they would go to all these sub-folders.

I get what you are saying, but i don’t think so. maybe you could play around with the junk mail scripts and edit them to suit different email addresses to go to different folders. but just as a function inside hotmail alone, don’t think so.

I don’t think you can do it in the Web version, but if you use a mail client (Outlook, Thunderbird _etc_.) you can do it in the client.

But of course then you’d have to specify exactly which email senders go in which folder. Instead of doing all that, just make the folders, then when each email comes in, when you open it, send it to its designated folder, only takes a second. 🙂
