There have been some interesting posts relating to the ethics of pheromone use recently, so I thought to reference them here in this thread.

Here’s a thread where a woman felt harrassed by a man wearing tuth. He didn’t (in his mind) do anything harrassing. However, he did apply a relatively strong dose of a pheromone known to communicate sexual interest and agressiveness.

> Hi pherotalk’s people, this is your buddy Yasserthekid1 cool bringing you some bad news about pheros and looking out for my forum’s people so that you guys don’t get this type of anti-reaction that I got a few weeks ago… hope you like the story.. it goes kindda like this… So I decided to stay over at my college’s apartments this one weekend, just to visit a few friends and chill around over there and have a good time (cuz sometimes there are crazy parties going on stuck_out_tongue)… So anyw…

We know the pheromones communicate something. How much responsibility is it advisable for the pheromone user to take for the way the communication is iterpreted?

The question takes a different tone when the interpretation of the signature involves getting beat up.

>
> You have to be careful when playing with fire.

When it comes to assigning responsibility for this imaginary fight, how culpable is the cop for interpreting our anone user as agressive, and how culable is the anone user?

Again from the same thread

> Think about it. We’re very cautious with -none. We’ll use it, but label the product wisely so you know what you’re in for. (Turn Up the Heat, Instant Jerk, etc.)
>
> James Kohl won’t touch the stuff, it seems. He’s a rone man. (Since he seems to like biking as a hobby, maybe he’s a _natural_ -none guy like a lot of other bikers are?)
>
> Dr. Dodd is a social phero guy.

> Dr. Winifred Cutler seems be all about anything other than androstenone.
>
> Erox and Pherin weren’t into -none. (but then again, that’s may be because they couldn’t patent it)
>
> You’ll notice a lot of the sleezier /scammier companies are into -none. (when they include anything in their product at all, that is)
>
> Then again, most of these companies don’t intend to stay open very long. They don’t really care about people much, they care more for the money in your wallet. Ultimately, they’ll take the money and run should they hurt anybody.
>
> Whereas the rest of us have reputations to uphold, and we try to be good “citizens of earth”. We certaintly don’t want to mess anybody up.
>
> I know, in our case, we’ve had long discussions about desiging consumer products to help dress up the “emotional atmosphere” of the world a bit. We’d _hate_ to see a high -none product become truly popular, because of the way it could possibly raise the “emotional temperature” of the planet (making point shorter w/each other, more hot headed, etc.).
>
> We’d rather give out a high androstenone / high special effect type product as a form of “proof” then steet people towards the more beneficiene stuff. Our planned consumer strategy so far is to give a small sample of “balls to the wall” PheroBomb with Ammo, but have the new Ammo be a good everyday, feel good product that spreads emotional benefits beyond the immediate vicinity of the wearer.
>
> In this way, if we ever had a true commercial hit, we’d be creating something sort of like “positive pollution” instead of negative.
>
> it’s a different way of thinking. I like it. I think if more businesses thought this way – if they thought of the “wins” involved for the world at large, beyond their own wins and wins for their end customer – then we’d have a much cleaner, happier planet.
>
> Whatever we do, we want want to create any new problems in the world, or be part of an existing problem.
>
> Anyway, I guess that’s why you see the sleezy or callous with their fake or -none products, and the more nurturing type people with products that are more social and beneficient to all.

An interesting perspective from Jasmin, explaining an ethos in pheromone marketing that could easily generalize to pheromone use.
