Which do you think better conveys the image of the currently named “[Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/)”?

Instant Gentleman is shown to make people think you’re “cool” and “hip” also gives a respectful tone yet without the unapproachability of A314.

Instant Gentleman is heard as “old guy” to new customers, which is not something people want to pay 40$ a bottle for. “Instant Style” makes people think of James Bond, which everyone wants to be like in one way or another.

Your opinions?

Great poll Pherophreak.

I’m soon to make my first order and it’ll definately be in there, me being in my early 20s, and also mostly due to what I’ve read from bosshank and rennys encouraging posts, found here:

A lot of this is based not only on my experience but also on some PMs between myself and Renny. So if you like this post and decide to share the love – er, rep points, please do not forget to send Renny some too. For those of you who are not familiar with Renny he and I are about the same age. I mention this as a couple of the products can have effects that v…

I like it. The fact it makes younger men seem older and older men seem younger, it totally fits. Style, it gives just that. I think with Gentlemen, people read that and the whole James Bond thing, I don’t think it does enough on explaining what it does in comparison to A314.

I’ve read some say that A314 buffered with socials can do the same job as [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/). Sure, both are -none heavy, but Gentleman won’t give you that Alpha vibe.

Agree totally with that name change.

And while we’re at it, how about renaming p74 to Instant Suave and renaming [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) to either Instant Confidence or Instant Ballsiness?

Actually, I find the term ‘[Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/)’ to be quite well fitting. Gentleman IMO is exactly what an AndrosteRone heavy product as IG is displaying: A provider, manly, sexy but save to be around. You know, the one women want to be around for a long time, not only for a quick one night stand. Unfortunately the term ‘gentleman’ has become a synonym for weakness for some people - but in my opinion it’s meaning is exactly the opposite. Gentleman doesn’t have much of an ‘old man’ feeling to me either - mature yes, old nope. I guess it totally depends on how the individual defines the term ‘gentleman’. For me this is a very positive description of someone, and fits my self image.

There’s no Androstenone in IG and only a little in A314. I guess you have that mixed up with AndrosteRone!
And I think IG _does_ give you an alpha vibe - it’s not as pronounced as with A314 and not as highly sexual and sometimes jerkish that -None heavy products provide - but a peaceful alpha vibe.

I agree with Bubblebob, the problem is not that the name is misleading the problem is that we’ve allowed the meaning of “Gentleman” to drift. A gentleman is NOT a wimp. Quite the opposite. A gentleman is a man who has turned his aggressive destructive nature to constructive pursuits AND brings his passion with him.

I bet if you asked 100 women whether they would rather be set up on a blind date with an Alpha Male or a Gentleman, the overwhelming majority would pick the gentleman. It’s guys that have a skewed notion of what gentleman means. Now do we wear IG to impress other guys or women?

Wow, some great insight here, guys! Thank you all.

Accuracy has always been a big deal with us, since so many [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/) names weren’t accurate. Companies traditionally wrote their marketing first, and worked on their product as an afterthought. It was maybe #31 on the list of priortities, if that. 🙂

We felt this really impeded any sort of forward momentum. Of course, it did. We’ve gotten very far in terms of new tech with accurate naming.

The only time we really want to take liberties with names are for mass market designed products, like Ammo. There, we’ll focus more on story (a funny story about cupid upgrading his arsenal w/machine guns and stuff), and then provide a formula that’s a little world friendly (lots of social mones, so we don’t pollute _hoot hoot_).

That’s all a bit of a mismatch, maybe, but a good match for the mass markets and for the mental health and wellbeing of the world in general. A 20mcg per spray -none product would be the ideal version of Ammo, perhaps, but if we sold a few hundred thousand or a million bottles of those… well… _rolls eyes_

Everyone would have the attitude of a spoiled Qatarian, and that’s not the world we want to live in. Read about Qatar sometime, maybe in the Geography of Bliss [Geography of Bliss](http://www.amazon.com/Geography-Bliss-Grumps-Search-Happiest/dp/044669889X).

We want less loneliness and social stigma. We want to help people connect. We more love and warmth, fun and joy on earth. We want more party and less pity. To us, the Qatarian way of life… with it’s extreme aggressiveness towards people and lack of concern for others is something sort of like hell on earth. Pretty much the exact opposite of what we’re working for.

Now for our core project here, on the other hand, we really want the highest accuracy we can. Most people on websites like this are wicked smart, and not really part of the mass market. Not much, anyway.

So yes, Gentleman is accurate for the presence this product provides, but I didn’t much consider the stigma of this name. _I LIKE GENTLEMAN!_

Except during a brief wreckless stint as a confused teen, I’d always go for the Gentleman over the Jerk. (but I’d style want him to have _style_!) And Michael was too classy to ever think that anybody would ever want to be a less than “Perfect Gentleman”. His ideas have always been very fork and knife, very classical. I guess you could call them a little “old fashioned”.

Style, though, I like that. Style. Class. These are good words that are still more or less accurate, but more inviting.

That might be better if we offer something like this as a back-end product for Ammo, too.

i like the name [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/). it gives me a warm feeling and calms me down when im feeling very energetic or aggressive. i was shopping with my mom the other day and i hate doing that because she takes forever. before we left to go shopping, i applied 4 sprays of instant gentleman on my neck and i didnt rush things like i normally do and wasnt too eager to get out when my mom takes forever. basically. also, i get a lot of looks from women when i wear it casually, like at the mall or the grocery store etc. it’s good stuff. i can definatley notice the cool aura it emits, i can see how people relate this product to AA314 for it’s high social status value.

I like the name [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/) and I think it is highly descriptive of the product. But I also agree that the word ‘gentleman’ may be misconstrued and perhaps some guys who might try this wonderful phero are put off by the name. That’s a shame, because it is great stuff.

Renaming it Instant Style may be a good way to get more men to try it. Plus, the word “Style” may have a connection with Strauss’s “The Game” for some, perhaps helping sales even more.

This is my favorite phero, and I’ve just ordered two large bottles of it. I love the feeling I get when wearing it.

My thoughts exactly, bubblebob. It is almost a perfect description, but I wouldn’t quite include manly, it is a different form of the term. Masculine
, is a better fit; It is associated with class AND strength, rather than raw inflammatory boldness, which is associated with manly.

> [@renny](#):
>
> Now do we wear IG to impress other guys or women?

Both, I’ve worn IG around women and other men, and they both tend to show more interest, in more than one way 😉

Doesn’t Instant Style sound more like a Unisex Product than a Masculine, Sexy, Alpha Male Product? Then it potentially comes off as being \*f\*\*abulous.. \*after all, gay men are often associated with being stylish, stereotype or not, and gay men are also associated, more often then not, as being flamboyant. Now, add in those preconceived notions, most straight men likely have, and the name?
Not quite so masculine anymore, huh? Look at [Mystery Boy](https://a314.com/product/mystery-boy/)’s Description, doesn’t it portray gay men as having a “vibrant, playful gay lifestyle”, I rest my case 🙄

in my experience without help, instant gentleman can become instant ‘nice guy’ which has not been very helpful with the women. this at the time i was testing it had more to do with my congruence than anything else however.

i don’t feel the renaming would be necessary.

as for the IG vs A314 discussion, IG is more approachable, but if you are willing to approach, A314 is the winner every time.

yeah i think that the demographic that i would go after would be the more than 1 dimensional women. i mean, a gentleman like James Bond wouldnt go after “that girl” in the club, no. he goes after the classy girls with more than just looks. it takes a gentleman to get a quality girl. Am i right?

From a personal perspective I think the name instant gentleman is just fine. But if I worked for the company in marketing I would change the name and blurb to increase sales and make more money. Especially when you have new consumers who are new to [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/) and just have the name and blurb to go by to make a decision on what to buy.

Instant gentleman is my favorite product and I know what it does for me but I bet if they changed the name and blurb and made it more cool. They would see a increase in sales and more people would appreciate it more for what it can do for them and not to just dismiss it out of hand.🙂

</div>

The word gentleman is normally used in formal and business situations to refer to any male. Service personnel–e.g., waiters & hotel clerks–call all men gentlemen even if they think you’re an utter arse. In common usage, the term gentleman is a nice way of saying old fart and is usually preceded by the word “older”, e.g., older gentleman. When I first saw the product name, [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/), I immediately translated it to “Old Fart” and thought, "what a terrible moniker for a product. Not as bad as GM naming a car the “Grand Prix” (many Americans don’t speak French and think “big prick” and often pronounce it Grand Pricks).

</div>

I will add to the mix that I put off buying Instant Gentlemen for a while even when it was recommended to me. It was only when somebody fully explained the effects and compared it to the younger mans A314/James Bond vibe that I was sold.

I know traditionally gentleman has been a positive but in this age when I hear gentleman I think of gentleman I think of an overly eager supplicating bloke or somebody slightly boring who’s been in a relationship for donkeys years. Probably not a healthy word association to be fair but I’m being honest and that’s what I hear.

I agree that women probably perceive the word gentleman in a fairer light and I would still say that I were a gentleman if asked. Saying that I have also heard women use the term in reference to the first instance I mentioned. From a marketing standpoint I would 100% go with “Cool” or similar over “Gentleman” though I’ve not yet tested enough to say what I’d call it if the choice were solely mine.

However, in retrospect, Instant Charisma doesn’t really capture the essence of [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/) any more or less than Instant Style, they both can have a emasculating feel to them.

I’d like everyone to think for a second though, if people associate Gentleman, to say an ‘older’ male figure, why is that such an unapproachable title? Perceptions obviously, but those are malleable. Why not associate the ‘older’ figure, to a younger man, in an more old-fashioned time? 🙄

I’m totally new to pheromones and the reason I did not buy [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/) is because it sounded more like an older man’s product, and as I’m in my early 20’s I didn’t think it would work for me.

Now that I’ve informed myself a little more I plan on purchasing it, but I think it should be renamed to Instant Style.
