If you’ve read up on the molecule, phenylethylamine (PEA), you will realize that many studies have confirmed that this is the molecule that causes you to fall in love. When a girl or a guy sets eye on someone they are attracted to, this molecule is released which induces the “love effect”. This is very interesting.

I wonder if it would be possible to create a [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/) that can cause the production of phenylethylamine (PEA) in others? Or maybe having a bottle of pure phenylethylamine (PEA) instead of a pheromone (if that’s even possible). This would be something amazing if achieved…Instant Love should be the name 😃

It’s an interesting thought, but unfortunately I doubt it would work (a shame really…I’d totally buy it!)

Phenethylamine is a type of catecholamine (or monoamine) which the brain synthesises from phenylalanine, an amino acid. You can take supplements of phenylalanine if you want but that would only increase your own production of PEA…and only temporary. Excess catecholamines is not good for many of your organ systems so your body has a very effective defence mechanism to prevent catecholamine levels to rise too much… Enzymes that break down catecholamines, including PEA are very abundant. In a normal person, with no enzymatic deficiencies, as soon as your levels increase above a certain level the enzyme production is also increased to the rate of breakdown of catecholamines increase to counteract the hig levels.

There are many enzymes involved too, so if one fails there are usually a few others that can take over. For PEA the main enzyme is MAO-B, and it is so effective that most PEA synthesised from precursers you didn’t already have in the brain (ie available systemically from diet etc) will be broken down so rapidly that very little, if any will actually reach the brain. This, as well as the “blood-brain-barrier” are other defense mechanisms of the body to keep levels of chemicals, transmitters etc from getting to toxic levels in the brain…

I’m thinking we’re just going to have to make do with the regular phero’s 🙂

Actually, chocolate actually contains phenylethylamine 😮🙄

There are many neurotransmitters involved in love, phenylethylamine (PEA) is just one of them. PEA actually is ‘associated with feelings of well-being and romance’.. not to mention, levels increase during orgasm, ovulation, and after exercise 🙄

So, if you’d like to get some one to love you, you’d make some progress, that is, if you give them plenty of orgasms, and chocolate 😉, and, do it right, and the exercise part is already taken care of 🙄

Ahh, evolutionary biology 😃

I believe they already do and you have probably used it. A1 is said to stimulate the production of phenylethylamine. It has long been nicknamed the love pheromone.

TAA would be another great example.

James V Kohl has mentioned it in a few of his studies but I dont recall him naming which [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/) but I may have just missed it. I suggest you check out his website and maybe get his book as well. A lot of great info there.

> [@](#):
>
> An example of a neurotransmitter affected by pheromone release is phenylethylamine (PEA) (Kohl 1995). PEA is found at synapses at the end of some nerve cells where it helps electrical impulses jump from neuron to neuron. It acts as a stimulant of the limbic system; the scent of a loved one sends a storm of messages to the limbic brain via PEA. These messages are then sent to the hypothalamus, which is responsible for the production of an andrenocoricotropic hormone (ACTH) releaser which in turn stimulates the pituitary gland to produce ACTH. Once ACTH is carried from the blood by the adrenal gland receptors, corticosterone is produced. This will increase the breakdown of glucose. This pathway, stimulated by PEA, is responsible for the feeling of being “in love.” Now, men, don’t get jealous. You may have heard somewhere that women have a keener sense of smell and can pick up on your pheromones a lot better, but there is no proof that you cannot enjoy these smells just as much. After reading study after study, it seems that no one can agree on whether or not there is a difference between men and women in their ability to distinguish certain odors. Some claim that females are far superior sniffers; others insist that there is no proof to verify that claim. The only thing that is definite is that there needs to be more research done in the area of gender-related smell.

The way I understand it is that there are 3 nuerohormones that release in the body when sexual attraction or Love occurs and they need to work in unison.

Dopamine
norepineprine
PEA (phenylethylamine)

You could add oxytocin for bonding as well but this is produced during sex.

So a pure bottle of it (PEA) probably would not have the effect your looking for on its own. Then again who knows it may be a putative we are testing. Anywho… my point is that the pheromones we use here do effect the nuerotransmitters that trigger these hormones and do produce the feeling your looking for. However since there is more to being in love for humans then just the chemical signaling that occurs its really just part of the picture.

Wondering if anyone bought this PEA.
I did lol.. it’s sold online as ‘blue manna’. Claimed benefits are mental energy, attention, focus, emotional balance and healthy joints/tissues.

It’s peaked my interest but I feel like increasing natural production as suggested above may be best.

It’s a very simple, lightweight molecule (121g/mol), appears to be excreted in both sweat and urine.

Pretty likely to have pheromone activity, actually. I may just have to give it a try 😉

There is a beta isomer of this molecule as well.

Do you know if that’s how it’s acquired in product form? Where they get the molecule or is it just a synthesis?

It’s interesting. But in what way does it make you think it has pheromone activity? Being from sweat or urine doesnt indicate pheromone. IN fact we excrete more non-pheromones from our sweat and urine than we do pheromones.

If it does have pheromone activity it may be interesting to see why it hasn’t been researched as such since it’s not a recent discovery.

I don’t know what form they’re selling as a product, or where they get it from.

What makes me think that it could act as a pheromone is that it is a lightweight endogenous neuromodulator implicated in a variety of social behaviors. It’s light enough to take flight, and a number of amines are known to be psychoactive when inhaled. The simplest is probably methylamine, which is a pheromone used by cockroaches. That little beauty weighs in at just about 40 g/mol and smells awful. No idea whether humans would have any response to it, although it is present in human urine.

Pheromone literature is not at a point where it’s really a useful resource. The only molecules that I’m aware of having any published research on their pheromone effects are androstadienone, androstenone, androsterone, and androstenol. And around here we know that there are certainly more than that.

I think there may be a connection between A1 and PEA same as I think there may be a connection between Beta Nol and Oxytocin.
Exposure to Bnol stimulates Oxy production and the presence of Oxy may cause an increase in Bnol. This is why trusting people, also tend to be seen as trust WORTHY people. Again simply theory but solid theory imo. Oxy is also produced by physical contact so slow progression of kino escalation while using Bnol may help raise Oxytocin levels to a very favorable degree.

Now while that may seem off topic from PEA, I don’t believe it is. The human brain has a tendency to try and backwards rationalize. IE it will tell itself “If I feel A and also B then I must be feeling C”
Bnol induced trust and connection coupled with a strong sexual tension/attraction (hello TuTH how are you today?) could cause the brain to deduce that it’s in love and stimulate PEA production.

Of course A1 could help this dramatically. As could artificially introduced PEA but the artificial PEA would have to be protected by MAOB inhibitors. I’ve read that Klamath Blue Green Algae contains both PEA and MAO inhibitors but given how often I see prescription drug commercials with warnings against use with MAO inhibitors I’m leary of advising it’s use. It seems that MAO inhibitors can increase the effects of caffeine and other substances to potentially dangerous levels.

Having the benzene ring in there definitely qualifies it as an aromatic compound. And it is, as dbot says, light enough in weight to be aromatic in the perfumer’s sense too. If it’s excreted in sweat, it’s definitely going to evaporate readily into the air around the excreter.

The next question would be to see what kind of reaction/receptors the ol’ shnozz has to/for it.

The scientist part of me is now highly intrigued. Intrigued enough to want to figure out how to experiment on it, and I think I may go hit google too. 🆒

Well that didn’t take long. Crap.

1. it smells fishy.
2. it oxidizes into a solid salt on contact with air.
3. it is a skin irritant.
4. it is a skin sensitizer.
5. high concentrations correlate to schizophrenia.
6. it is included in the group of chemicals that include the street drug “ecstasy” and hallucinogens and psychedelics. (e.g. amphetamines)

In general I don’t think this would be a good candidate for AD’s testing.

As a matter of fact I have already diluted an amount of the beta isomer in alcohol, fixed with FCO & monolaurin.

I tested it for self-effects at 12.5 mcgs and I can tell you for sure it does something. No idea what yet – I noticed a pronounced alteration in body sensation, a change in motivated behavior, increased internal sensory activity. Sort of groovy.

I didn’t notice any fishy smell.

I was more concerned with skin irritation or sensitivity.

All right, tell me more. Be more specific on the self-effects. What SORT of alteration in sensation? A bump up or down in motivation? What do you mean by “increased internal sensory activity”?

And by “groovy” I guess you generally liked it. That does concern me, however, given its close relationship to any number of addictive psychoactives. Be careful.
