Last week I was getting some strong indicators of interest from this young hot babe at work. For example, last week she was asking me if I liked the smell of her lotions and perfumes that she wore. She sprayed her wrist with J-Lo perfume and then put her wrist under my nose for a bit to let me smell her. The next day she then asked me to feel her hand to determine if I thought she had rough skin, which IMO, she did not have rough skin, haha!

So, for the past two days, I kind of kept my distance from this girl just to cool off the flirting for a bit. She still says hello to me and acts kind and whatever.

However, I noticed when work is over that she doesn’t say bye to me! She walks around and says by to each and every man and woman in the call center to say goodbye to everyone, but she seems to deliberately skip me. Do you guys think this is a form of a female “neg” or maybe an IOI? I’m positive she flirted strongly with me last week, but I’m curious why she’s afraid to say goodbye to me, but she makes a strong effort to say bye to everyone else.

Thanx playas!

I would say she was interested. Cant say for sure but she may have felt your keeping your distance for those few days right after she flirted with you was a indication of your not being interested in her in the same way she is interested in you.

Hello Tisha. Thank you for wisdom as usual!

I just wanted to add, I wasn’t completely avoiding this girl after the strong flirting she did last week. We do say hello to each other daily and we maintain a healthy “at work” type relationship. I just politely step away when I feel that she is about to flirt with me at work.

So, we do get along okay at work, I just noticed that she seems to avoid saying goodbye to me when our shift is over at the customer support center. She visits every man and woman on the shift and says “bye” to everyone, but I am always left out of her goodbye loop. Do you still think this is some sort of female “neg”?

Thanx!

IMO yes and no, yes it is an indicator of interest, but no, in as much as it’s not intended to be seen as such. People tend to go to extremes when trying to hide something. Much like little kids are so afraid of their classmates figuring out that they like so and so, rather than just being neutral, they take their behavior to the polar opposite and pick on the person, or tease them. As adults the methods might be a little more subtle but at the root we tend to do the same thing.

Basically it’s like this…
If she only said goodbye to you, or at least only you consistently (you and person A on monday, you and person B on tuesday etc.) then yeah people might figure out you have her attention in a special way and she knows this.

If she was neutral and either said goodbye to nobody, said goodbye to everyone including you, or said goodbye to a few people at random with no particular pattern, then nobody would be the wiser. However…insecurity (since she likely thinks you’re not interested) could be causing her to go a bit further to the other end of the spectrum…ie saying goodbye to everyone BUT you.

She threw some ioi’s but you distanced yourself. So she figures you’re not interested and A continuing to show interest is a waste of time, and B. this is a big one, continuing to show interest could make her look desperate. Women are so used to being the ones pursued that they usually don’t expect that when they take a little initiative and pursue, that they’ll be rejected. Done infrequently it can increase a woman’s interest but done too firmly and solidly and she’ll pull back. Any further action risks more emotional hurt, plus on an instinctive level she might feel that seeing her rejected by a man she shows obvious interest in will make other men less likely to accept her.

I mean think about it, if you are even slightly interested in a woman, but it’s very clear she’s into a different guy, but that guy rejects her and shows obvious signs of disinterest, how would your opinion of her change if you watched her continue to chase this guy and show obvious indicators of attraction toward him only to be shot down day after day?
What’s more, if the girl finally did decide to go ahead and date you instead, how secure could you feel that she’s with you because she wants to be, and not because she’s settling for what she can get, instead of what she actually wants? Would you be worried that if the other guy changed his mind and decided he wanted her that she would drop you for him at the first opportunity?

This is what she’s trying to avoid. Chasing game that’s too difficult hurts her chances with other more willing males in the long run.

Thank you Radman for the very very good insight. I do agree with much of what you said above.

I was kinda thinking that this babe didn’t want to telegraph TOO MUCH interest, so maybe that’s why she backed away from saying goodbye to me. My current girlfriend tells me that girls in general, or maybe just herself, are very subtle about expressing their interest in a man, kinda like how “little kids are so afraid of their classmates figuring out that they like so and so”…

BTW, last week, on the day my coworker asked me to smell her and touch her, which she seemed to obviously enjoy, I noticed that after work she totally avoided me. She walked into a cubicle farthest away from me and chatted with a female friend of hers for like 12-15 minutes after work was over. She didnt say bye to anyone, she just hid in the corner. I was kinda waiting for her to come back and say goodbye to me, but she hid in the corner from me, so I just left work. I was kinda feeling like she hates to telegraph too much interest, but I’m not exactly sure. Maybe she’s just a tease?!?!?! Ha!
