Oh that’s so darn cute, Remmy. You do well on crack. 😉 I kind of felt that way too. That’s pretty much the way beer is sold to men, you know. (with the sexes reversed, of course) Poor things, men.

Flaming, you add panache to this thread. Your comments _add_ to the banter. Please don’t hold back.

Daisy, aw go on post a pic! 🙂 I want to see what spaceship hair looks like. In Selva’s pic she was positively glowering at the camera and twisted her face practically crosswise in adolescent pissyness and still managed to look pretty.

Late to the party here.

OMG thanks for posting that delicous ad. Is that how they make chocolate? Now wonder women like it sooo much. Is it wrong to say my fave part was when the hot dude was unbuckling? Those little pelvic “V” shapes are sooo cute, oui?

The ad people should get wise and start selling mundane things like cleaning products that way. Tell Billy Mays to shove his Oxy.

How about hot dudes using shower cleaner? Scrubbing the toilet in a suggestive motion? Vaccuuming. Who would give a flying fart how much dirt the vaccuum picks up?

This party is 24/7 phernoob. Everyone is always exactly on time. 🙂

I totally agree that sexist commercials would be very effective in pushing products to women. Provided it was done right. I mean, among other things, I sure wanted some chocolate after watching that ad. We ladies are so unused to that type of sell job that we’d be very easy to manipulate–for a while. Until our magazines and tv commercials got overloaded by hot guys selling perfume and vacuum cleaners and cars.

…Ya know, that wouldn’t be so bad really. I’d be willing to put up with it.

More illusions for the masses. Those chocolate fat pills are probably made by big, strong, sexy… machinery.

My favorite commercials are probably the GEICO commercials, and Flo on the Progressive commercials.

LOL. Nothing gets between a girl and her chocolate fix. Call them whatever you like… And let us dream that a bunch of scantily-clad French studs are running around in a hot steamy bakery just for us. Why take that away from a girl? 🙂

About damn time I wrote this damn report I keep on blathering about! 😃

**Why We Love Report, Part I**

 ![Cover.jpg](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/pheromonetalk/original/2X/e/e596310b035b1c7ebc2c16658ede95fdeb5b293c.jpeg)
Here’s my book report on the book I received (gratis! woo! thanks April!) with my latest phero order: _Why We Love, the Nature and Chemistry of Romantic Love_ by Helen Fisher. Why (do) we love? I sure don’t know. I’ve never felt I had much choice in the matter. Fisher does not really answer this question either, but she answers many others in great and fascinating detail. For us phero users, the most exciting info in this book is Fisher’s descriptions of love, and the information she provides on the brain chemicals involved in lust, romance, and attachment. This is Part I, which will concentrate on the many variations of love.

![Eros and Psyche.jpg](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/pheromonetalk/original/2X/8/8e5fc7b3acb94a6aa9e085a6f3aa21312c981a3d.jpeg) We start with some modern interpretations of classical Greek and Latin terms for the states of love:

- **Eros** : Passionate, sexual, energetic, (lust + romantic love)

- **Mania** : Possessive, obsessive, illogical, and why we sometimes make fools of ourselves or act psycho in love (sometimes a component of romantic love)

- **Ludus** : Playful, fun, uncommitted, includes f\*\*\* buddies and flirtations (fun + mild lust)

- **Storge** : (pronounced STORE-gay) Affectionate, best friends, brother/sisterly, a bit like your grandparents’ relationship or you and your childhood friend (a type of attachment)

- **Agape** : (pronounced ah-GAH-pay) Altruistic, spiritual, dutiful, the transcendent love you have for your kids and family (a type of attachment)

- **Pragma** : Pragmatic, compatibility, friendship, how you feel about friends, acquaintances, and certain work peers (not actually considered love by Fisher)
To break it down further, a guy named Robert Sternberg says that love is made up of three components: \*\*

1. Passion\*\*, **2.** **Intimacy** , and **3. Commitment**.
 ![Passion.jpg](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/pheromonetalk/original/2X/7/7ec8eb28d0e9b076a87213656deb234d382c1f50.jpeg) ![Intimacy.jpg](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/pheromonetalk/original/2X/2/24bc040182a2b9d48bad75e45e9bdc224ceaa890.jpeg) ![Commitment.jpg](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex016/uploads/pheromonetalk/original/2X/c/caa3f7e5957717e9a98e9016bc476beb6660d923.jpeg)

I think you need all three for a serious LTR. And I can kind of see how the first three of Sternberg’s love states are natural steps in a relationship. Then, unfortunately, the rest of the love states represent how a relationship can fall apart–or be damaged from the very start._ **The First Three: The Fun Ones** _

1. **Infatuation** : Step 1. Lust at first sight. Relationship contains \*\*Passion \*\*but no Intimacy or Commitment

2. **Romantic Love** : Step 2. Butterflies and sleepless nights. Relationship contains **Passion** and **Intimacy** , but no Commitment (kind of like eros)

3. **😃 Consummate Love 😃** : Step 3. **Score!** You found “the One.” Relationship contains **Passion** ,
**Intimacy** , _and_ **Commitment**
The Rest: The Less Fun Ones

* * *

1. **Companionate Love** : The sex sucks but you still love each other. Relationship contains **Intimacy** and **Commitment** but no Passion. (kind of like storge)

2. **Liking** : Let’s just be friends. Relationship contains **Intimacy** and no Passion or Commitment

3. **Fatuous Love** : Trophy wives and workaholics. Relationship contains **Passion** and **Commitment** but no Intimacy

4. **☹ Empty Love ☹** : On the fast train to Breakuptown or Divorceville. Relationship contains \*\*Commitment \*\*only, no Intimacy or Passion
\*\*
The Pheromone Solution

\*\*Pheromones can clearly enhance **Passion** , **Intimacy** , and to a certain extent **Commitment**. In any relationship, I think it is useful to take an honest look at which of these components could use a boost. If you want Passion, use those pheromones. If you require Intimacy, wear the pheromones that encourage long deep talks. If Commitment is needed, bump up the Passion and Intimacy to, hopefully, foster an atmosphere where Commitment can grow.

- _The sexual pheromones:_ (Copulins, and to a certain degree, Alpha Androstenol for women; Androstenone and P83 for men) foster \*\*Passion
\*\*

- _The [social pheromones](https://a314.com/product-category/social-pheromones/)_: (Androstenol alpha and beta, P74 for everyone; TAA for women, and for men Androstidienol) facilitate **Intimacy**

- \*\*\*\*Commitment \*\*\*\*seems to be something that grows over time --or fizzles-- as your \*\*\*\*Intimacy \*\*\*\*and \*\*\*\*Passion \*\*\*\*increase or burn out. (However, anecdotally, there is an argument that \*\*\*\*Commitment \*\*\*\*can be affected by _EST and possibly P74_.)
Not sure where to put the rest of the putatives, mixes, and pheromones like TAH and TAL…Help me with this, plz guys?

The pheromone part above is all my totally underinformed opinion, and I am sure that I am incorrect about several things, so please feel free to let me know where I’ve missed the mark. What I hope to accomplish is conversation, brainstorming, and speculation on these topics because I really like them and think they are very fun to discuss. 🙂

\ ***Part II is next: The Chemicals of Love and Delirium** 😃

XO Kitten 😉

But wow, that’s very interesting… I especially like the different Latin terms; it is enlightening to figure out who in my life fits into each category…

I really don’t think I have anything useful to say or add, but I’m looking forward to hearing what other people have to say on the matter 🙂 Thanks very much for writing this little “book report” for us, Kitten! 😃

Excellent book report. Good tie in with the pheros too. I vote for this to become a sticky!

I think i might buy the book now. Many years ago pop psychology used something like this (with a dash of Freudian psyche) to explain the maturity of a person by what level of love they achieved using those terms. So only a fully mature person could transcend the first-mentioned types of love and only have Agape.

Boring! I think I am stuck in Eros/Mania/Ludus mode most of the time! Well, over one particular man anyway.

This report is why I come back to pherotalk over and over. Kitten, you and others here are more intelligent than the general population I encounter in my daily life. Trust me, I see people every day who think they are soooo smart that they have to come in for intelligence testing. They always turn out to be average. You are not. Seriously professional opinion.

This place is fun, but its brain food too. Keep it comin…
