hi, i was wondering what you gals thought the best over the counter cover scent is? I’ll attest to my humility that my smell is more important to you than it is to me. I’m not rich by any means so what do you gals think (i wont wear axe though, that stuff is vile AND sucks) the best smell you can buy on a budget for a guy is?

thanks a bunch! 😃

The 2 scents I can think of that I really like on a man are Lynx (NOT vanilla lynx though, that is horrible! Just the standard lynx) and also this cheap but very sexy aftershave called Gold.

I agree Axe is vile LOL My son uses it and I cant stand it. He is 15 and takes after me so if it keeps the girls away its OK with me LOL

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on scents you don’t have to really. Online there are tons of vendors who sell low cost dupes and original scents that are just awesome. Only a person really experienced with the sense of smell and cologne notes could tell the difference in dupes and as long as it smells good women don’t care if its real or a dupe. If they do they are shallow so your better off without them anyways.

Down in the parfum section we talk about a lot of them.

I love Blue Sugar on a man. It is not sweet or feminine at all so don’t confuse it with Pink Sugar.

[Perfumes - Bathed & Infused](http://www.bathedandinfused.com/Perfumes-p-1-c-14.html) has a nice selection of scents, just click on the scent menu at the top you will have to look through them to find them men’s because they put them in alphabetical order.

[Earthen Treasures Fragrance Categories](http://www.spiral-creations.org/EarthenTreasures/fragrances.htm) I love this place they have a great dupe of Blue sugar and Green Irish Tweed. Just click on fragrances on the left and the mens have a (M) next to them.

I really like to support the smaller vendors and I like when men use a unique scent not something every guy has on. Just be careful in picking a vendor. Its best to find out a little about them first. I can help you with that as I have used tons of them and frequent the forums where we test them out and report on them.

“Its not the scent that makes the man its the man who makes the scent.”

My hubby just got a big laugh out of that last quote. 😃 Ummm that could be taken the wrong way… Snort… Behave LOL

that would have went right over my head but since you insisted on bringing it up… seesh.

That blue sugar stuff just sounds nice. what kind of smell is it?
I’ve always been a fan of fruity/tropical scents over gruff stuff like old spice. I am actually currently using Hei by Alfred Sung. At first it smells kinda alcohol-y but after a few minutes that goes away, and at random times during the day you can get nice whiffs of it, and let me tell you it is fantastic.

Thanks again tisha you the best!

Here is a review of Blue Sugar

> [@](#):
>
> Given the immense popularity of [Pink Sugar](http://www.nstperfume.com/blog/_archives/2007/1/10/2637965.html), the only surprise is how long it took [Aquolina](http://www.nstperfume.com/perfume-houses-a-to-b/#Aquolina) to come up with a follow-up fragrance for men. Blue Sugar launched late last year, and takes its cues from Pink Sugar’s blend of caramel and vanilla. Other notes include bergamot, tangerine leaves, star anise, ginger, licorice, patchouli, lavender, heliotrope, coriander, cedar and tonka bean.
> So, how to do a cotton candy fragrance for men? Well, for starters, tone down the berries. Then, amp up the woods and spices, and add an extra dose of patchouli to give the whole thing a darker cast. That pretty much sums up the story of Blue Sugar, which manages to retain the caramelized sugar-candy vibe of Pink Sugar without feeling at all girly.
> Blue Sugar is still sweet, mind you, but the woods temper the intensity of the sweetness, and first the heavier citrus notes, and later the lavender, lend a brisk, clean feel that is missing from Pink Sugar. Blue Sugar is also spicier than its feminine counterpart. The licorice/anise notes are especially more noticeable, so while it still smells like a dessert, it could pass for something marginally more sophisticated than cotton candy.

I am used to pink sugar so I barely pick up on the sweet caramal scent. I get more of a woodsy mandarin spice with a sweet undernote. I can smell the bergamot which I love. Nothing like old spice LOL

Pink Sugar the female version can make mens eyes roll back in their heads LOL Some of the guys loved it at work and asked me to pick them up the male version and I did. I have seen girls stick there noses right up to the guys neck and say “oh my gawd you smell lickable” LOL They think I put mones in it but I didnt.

If you have a sephora near you they have it there so you can smell it before getting it. Or use one of the small vendors I mentioned so if you dont like it it wont break the bank.

Amazon has the origonal for something like $25 bucks to.
