Things have been crazy here, Friday we had a “MesoCyclone” AKA an inland hurricane.
with sustained winds of 106 MPH, lots of trees are down, along with structural damage and powerlines.

Things are a mess but they are getting better, I have some pictures, but they are not as good as these-

I still do not have power or internet at my home.

The Question of the Area,
“They Blamed Katrina on Bush, so can we blame this storm on Obama?”

Thanks, the funny part is I was out of town that day.

Things are kind of surreal, HUGE trees are blown over like toothpicks.

the Reason I posted is the news in Indiana did not show anything, my uncles in Minnesota and Kansas, said there was nothing on the news, about the storms, so people don’t realize the extent of the damages in a 100 square mile area.

Only if he gave you an evacuation notice 3 days before the storm.😛

Glad you are OK Wolfy, I hope your area recovers quickly. My little town was hit by some really bad floods in 2004 and it took about 3 years to get the people who lost their homes and neighborhoods back to where they were before. The government did a good job in the immeadiate emergency but it was the churchs and businesses that eventually rebuilt the community.

I lived in Grenada for close to 60 days without running water or electricity after Ivan.

Spartan at its best

Power is reporting 7-14 days, the lines are up, the substation is blowed-up.
we have running water, but because the treatment station is down, there is a boil order.

I was talking to a friend and they said it was not Obama’s fault, that he did not give us three days evacuation notice.
I would have really liked 3 days notice. Things would have been more secure and/or moved. Yet the insurance adjuster for my landlord said because my windows were open in my apartment, that’s why they were not blown out.

several 76’ tall Pin oak trees, a 100’ tall Tulip Tree and varying size Bur oak Trees are/were laying across the phone and power lines. the power lines have been ferreted out, the phone line looks like a woven nylon rope that was not heat cut, snapped and Fuzzed.

I have seen the same with hurricanes along the coast. And I did not notice anything in the news about your area either …

Inland megastorms that produce that kind of damage generally have little to absolutely no notice

We still can’t predict when a tornado will land (this is similar)

With Katrina the hurricane was a long time coming (albeit it did make a last minute move that surprised everyone)

In both cases the lack of sufficient evacuation notice is hardly the president of the day’s fault.

here is the local paper’s collection of pictures of the force of the storm, and the brave souls who worked to clean up the aftermath.

For those of you who live here…you seen it in person. For those of you who don’t you can see what we did.
