LOL, you can see why Dak didn’t last long in the greetings cards business… You make an interesting point though…I can understand how this can be true of the love a parent has for a child, after all that is needed to make sure the offspring survive, but I can’t see hoe love assists with replication? I can’t see an advantage (genetic and prehistorically) speaking of people pairing off and committing. Surely it would be better to share the wealth a bit (so to speak) - this is how most groups of preditory animals are arranged. If we were really meant to pair off, commit and produce children from the heart of that loving relationship - then the human body would have evolved so that sex was unplesant..but as it is sex is extremely plesant which forces people to seek it…as often as possible..hence teenagers experimenting in draughty bus shelters and men paying women they don’t know for sexual favours in brothels. So many relationships fail becuase of infidelity. Anyone else get the feeling that we have been sold a picture of how life should look (man meets woman, fall in love, have 2.4 children, and live together happily ever after) that simply does not fit with the way we were designed to act… and now 70% of marriges are failing because people are no longer scared to make themselves happy… There are some species of spider that are designed so that the female eats the male after he has inseminated her…now imagine if that was true for humans…then I could really believe that men were meant to commit to one woman, and you can bet your bottom dollar that when he did - he truly loved her. ---

Oh and BTW, I do believe in love, completely - I just don’t understand it. I had it for 8 years, 2 years on I still love her (if she really needed me I would be there like a shot) - that is my real love, the fact that I still love her despite the fact she left me for another man 2 years ago and is still with him - I don’t want to be with her but I will never lose the love I had for her (in the same way I will never lose my love for her mum and her sister) I will never ‘get over it’ and TBH if people really mean it when they say they love someone I don’t see how they ever could either. I don’t think I have the capacity to ever feel like that about someone else again though ☹ ---

Gem, I feel like there is a contradiction somewhere in here..since when does SEX equate LOVE? Sex is a drive, just like any other drive, that doesn’t necessarily mean we have to follow that drive. If one becomes so angry at another to the point they feel like committing murder, there is a judgement that may make you think twice about doing it. Sex is the same thing but for most people nowadays, sex HAS lost it’s intended purpose..NO, not just procreation but LOVE. When you are in love then you make love..it is a joining of not only bodies, but also spirits..that’s love. Sex is not love, and it was designed for expression of love. When you speak o your lost love, I bet SEX with her was different from any others..even if there are others that are better physical sex partners, you’d rather be making love to the one that got away! People are evolving creatures and people love to reason the laws of nature to benefit their own desires. We ARE NOT ANIMALS. We do not live in the jungle, fighting for food, killing our species to survive. We are human beings, and to call us “animals” or “animalistic” is an excuse to do what we want and not own up to our CHOICES! Yes, we choose to have sex. Animals do not, they are instinctual creatures. HUGE Difference! ---

No matter how long it takes and how far gone the capacity to feel that way seems, when the right person comes, those feelings will well up from your heart in a depth that you didn’t think possible. My friends say I’m stupid, and I accept, I am… The only thing is this girl (22 y.o),does not hate me but sees me as her brother and protector. We’re still good friends although we used to fight every now and then and I used to send text messages to ‘hurt’ her feelings out of jealousy bcoz she loves someone else! But she never retaliate. I then realised that I can’t “buy” her love (although she’s poor) or force her…her name is Norhayati, in Arabic means “The Lights of Life”, but sadly, she refuses to be the lights of my life…☹ ---
