Dear Sisters,

I recall reading some brief instructions from a woman to (perhaps older) men on how we (men) can improve our appearence using makeup. I’ve searched for days now, and not found it again. Maybe I imagined it? Maybe it only applied to nightclubs? Anyway, I gave up, and decided to ask you what you think, please?

I’ve been using wrinkle cream at night (I can’t stand the smell in the morning), and I might be ready to try some very light “touching up,” if any of you ladies is able to advise?

Oh, and if this is not a good question here, please tell me where better to ask? 😮

Thanks for your kindness and gentle attention.😛

I’m not sure how far you’re willing to go make-up wise or what you mean. Are we talking grooming or full club face make up like the pua community?

A few things that I do to feel good about my appearance are as you said taking care of my skin. In addition to a good face lotion an astringent or toner might be good for you as well. Witch hazel is a simple inexpensive product that would clean excess oil and tend your pores. Don’t wash your face with the same soap you use for your body, get a nice gentle face wash. Lip balm like Burts Bees, not only keeps my lips soft and healthy looking, I love that it is a strong peppermint.

Another is tooth whitening. Either professionally or a touch up with strips like crest.

Tanning lotion for a sun kissed look or to fix an uneven skin tone, these days orange skin isn’t an issue there are some great products out there.

Rice paper to remove excess oil from skin if necessary. I haven’t used rice paper in years but it is an effective way to quickly get rid of shiny skin on the go.

With all of the mineral products available now you could probably use a product to even up skin tone or give yourself a well polished appearance. There are clear mascaras and eyebrow products to give yourself a well groomed look.

Use the conditioner after a shampoo, it’s meant to keep your hair from looking fuzzy. Actually that is one my husband refuses to do and I just don’t get why not. The same with my face wash or scrubs.

I take the less is more approach with make-up. Light concealer if necessary, light mascara, gloss or lip balm. If you’re going to wear make-up I’d suggest you avoid the heavy liquid cover up type of products and check in to mineral brands.

I hope I was of some help, with out more specific questions or info I’m not really sure what to suggest.

I also use Mascara and lip gloss, and skin lightening moisturizers. And find i look sexier. I mean look at my picture.

Great Post Inkling

Nancyboy

I am assuming your interested in products that fight the appearance of aging or help improve it more then all out makeup.

Here is a great site for men. I send some of my friends at work who ask this question here.

[Mens Skin Care Products Facial Scrub](http://www.malespecies.com/showcategory.asp?C=1&S=1)

I like all natural products.

Some tips…

Excess hair in nose ears and on eyebrows, Get rid of it if you have it. Nothing says gross like hair coming out a guys nose.

Grey hair, unless you look good in it, Like George Cloony good get rid of it. They make mens formulas that are easy and not noticable and you can get them at any drug store.

Sunscreen in your facial products. Very Very important. The sun discolors and causes damage even if you dont sit out in it. If your gonna spend money to fight ageing but your wont wear sunscreen everyday its gonna be harder to do. If you cant go without the tan get a spray on like I sometimes do or better yet use the skin brightening tanning self tanners from jergins or oil of olay. SCRUB SKIN FIRST, If your gonna use them come back or pm me and I will explain this.

There are products like regenerist by oil of olay that help even out skin tone. The above site has a all natural one for men which I get for my hubby.

Scrubs. You need to get the old dead skin cells off your face and body before you put lotion on it. My husband uses my scrubs and those that I buy him from the etailers I shop from. They really do wonders for your skin. My husband couldnt believe the difference and now we fight over the scrubs in the bathroom LOL. You should use a scrub in the shower a few days a week. It improves circulation, brightens and evens skin tone, softens and improves skin condition and the face ones can diminish the appearance for fine lines. I use a all natural coffee scrub on my face from elementels. If you want me to point out some good ones just let me know and I will post some links.

I have normal skin tone not oily or dry so if yours is oily follow inklings advice above for that.

Teeth whitener Yes I agree with inkling. I use crest white strips. You would be surprised how much white teeth make you look younger.

Conditioner. I agree inkiling why dont men like to use it. My husband is the same way. I sneak it in his head and shoulders LOL. especially as your hair turns grey you need it. Grey hair is more course and bushy. Einstein is a perfect example of untended grey hair.

Makeup They have a whole line of things at above link to help men so they dont look they just came out of the rocky horror picture show. Some men at work use a few of the products and love them. The key is you dont want to look like your wearing makeup. 😉

Hmmm. Except for black guyliner on certain younger guys, I don’t like makeup on men. I guess that men have been using flesh toned Clearasil on zits since forever, so you could get away with concealer on a zit and explain it away as tinted pimple cream if anyone were rude enough to stare or comment.

Women are very, very observant and we will notice mascara, foundation, powder, or shiny lip balm. (Sorry to be blunt, but at worst, you might come across as an odd Liberace type or at best as a metrosexual wannabe gigolo.) As a guy, your best makeup is a great skin and a good tan. Moisturize and use a good fake tan all over, including your face. Use non-shiny chapstick on your lips. And during the day use a moisturizing sunscreen to avoid sun damage.

If you are determined to enter the arcane world of women’s makeup, I’d suggest that you start at the Benefit makeup counter at your local mall. They sell many cosmetic items that are kinda sorta makeup and kinda sorta not.

And LOL at Tisha’s Einstein comment!

LOL I agree no mascara even eyeliner is pushing it. A little concealer or a foundation made for men is fine. Like at the above store I posted. I dont get kudos for sending you there but there foundation is more translucent then any womens foundation I have ever seen. These will work on a guy to. [Natural mineral based powder cosmetics and skincare. - Eraser - powder & orig.](http://pureluxecosmetics.com/page9.html) The eraser is amazing. They are made to reflect light in a way that distracts from any flaw you feel you have. Is your face blotchy or to red they got it covered and the one they have for skin brightening you look at it and say to yourself jesus its so translucent there is no way it will work but sure enough it does. They really dont leave color at all once you work them in and even if you wipe they wont leave color on your hand.

I just want to ask the women responding in this thread … if you noticed that the guy you’re interested in is using concealer, foundation, etc, would it really not affect the way you view him? It would for me! It says Super Metrosexual to me, way more than I’d be comfortable with in a partner. I’m not talking about grooming, scent, or skin care here; I’m talking about cosmetics.

[quote]

Thats ok if your born white, some of were born with a permanant sun tan. Besides i use mascara never eyeliner, no one has ever noticed or were to polite to say anything, (well this is England after all that stiff upper lip is stiff)

A face peel is good once week or once a month and a face scrub with exfoliating soap is very good. However it is not just about looking after the surface.

Good skin begins with the inside, good diet, excercise, Niacin, Vitamin C and other minerals are good and help improve skin in conjuction with diet and excercise and washing. And stop smoking, this is something i have got to do.

Either that go for a Blind girl.

aveda has an eye-creme fro dark circles. i tend to get them from late night out. the key tho is to dab delicately, so you don’t burst any more blood vessles there. if you go to an aveda salon and ask, they’ll be able to give you the cream. as for dry skin - cetaphil facial moisturizer is excellent.

Why yes I do

Facial scrub first. You need to get the dry skin off so the new skin can shine through. Use it every other day for a week then just once a week after that.

[Mens Face Scrub revitalizing skin](http://www.malespecies.com/product.asp?ID=1017&C=1&S=1)

For other days use this it will hydrate your skin

[Mens Hydrating Face Wash](http://www.malespecies.com/product.asp?ID=1015&C=1&S=1)

Then moisturerizor…

[Sun Block Made for Men](http://www.malespecies.com/product.asp?ID=1018&C=1&S=1)

This is a good scrub to if you dont want to spend alot
[A Natural Perspective : Natural Facial Scrubs & Exfoliants](http://www.anaturalperspective.com/home.cfm?MnuId=D89B318F-8AA4-455A-896322188BA2BE4D&catid=CATEscrubs)

Now you dont have to use this brand but they are good but they kinda pricy. Oil or olay has products that are not all natural that will work much the same called the regenerist line. Pricey as well. Just look at them so you can get the idea of what you need if you decide to just hit the drug store for stuff.

The coffee scrub I use is great and I will give you a link once her store is open. Right now she is closed due to a family death. Her stuff is reasonably priced and works well

Dark Circles…

[advanced eye therapy, eye treatment, eye creams - bliss](http://www.blissworld.com/product/skin+care/n.v.+perricone+advanced+eye+area+therapy+.do)

Very pricey but works great. I love Bliss 😃

If you dont want to spendthat kind of money use something like this.

> **[Directnic Parking](http://www.woodridgelab.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=59&c=36)**

You can get it in most drug stores.

Here is a good artical on it.

Even better for dry skin is pure shea butter. Unrefined, preferably, as it has all of the goodness still intact. When I started using it, it cleared all of my skin dryness issues. A good place to get high quality, unrefined butter is [Shea Butter: Fair Trade, Unrefined Shea Butter and African Black Soap](http://www.agbangakarite.com)

Get the unscented kind for use on your face. Also, their black soap is very good for facial use. It is 100% natural and is almost like a scrub because it is kind of grainy. Good for exfoliation.

I used to use Tea Tree Soap, which is a natural antiseptic which kills germs on the skin, which cause the acne, combined with Niacin (Nicotinimide) clears acne quickly, and makes for a healthy glow.
