I’ve been thinking about making my own cologne (maybe with the possibility of putting [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/) into it). I’m going to be ordering some essential oils, but does anyone here know the whole process to cologne-making?
Like what ingredients I’d need, and the proper steps? It’d be damn nice to have good smelling colognes at a fraction of the price.

Mikotorocks gave you a great link. Just one more tip though.

Dr Hirsch of the Science of smell institute has been conducting tests for years on what scents increase the penile and vaginal blood flow and cause arousal.

For women

Good & Plenty (black licorice candy) combined with cucumber +14%
Baby powder +13%
Pumpkin pie combined with lavender +11%
Baby powder combined with chocolate +4%
Perfume +1%

These are the scents that decreased arousal and blood flow

Men’s cologne -1%
Good & Plenty (by itself) -12%
Charcoal-barbecued meat -14%
Cherry -18%

Just something to keep in mind while making your own scents. Actually I found it interesting that mens colognes decreased arousal but not surprising. I have heard this from many of my female friends.

[How to make perfume](http://www.instructables.com/id/How_to_make_perfume/) There mey be others on instructables too, I know there is a ‘solid perfume one’ that was rather interesting ([Solid Perfume](http://www.instructables.com/id/Solid-Perfume/)).

Basenotes is also good for looking up colognes /perfumes. They list a lot of the scents that go in to a perticular product(though not necessairly 100% accurate), which is ideal if you have a cologne you like and wish to recreate or modify.

[Aromatherapy for Emotional Well-Being](http://www.aromaweb.com/articles/emotionalwellbeing.asp) may be usefull to find out how certain EO effect us.

Just remember, you need top notes, middle notes & base notes or your cologne will fall flat. There is a good book by Mandy Aftel called “Essence & Alchemy” that discusses this in detail. I believe you can get it on [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com)

Now if only somebody would make a Good and Plenty/Cucumber scented version of [Ammo](https://a314.com/product/ammo/), it would be unstoppable!
