So the other day I was talking with one of my TGs. This is the one I talk about the most, from work. I was sitting at my desk and he was standing next to me while we were discussing our project for the day. He and I have this tendency to stare into each others’ eyes for longer than normal when we have finished talking (probably 4 or 5 seconds, although it feels like an eternity). This time around, however, he started laughing/giggling after doing that. His reaction this time surprised me a bit as he’s usually really staid, so I said “what?” He laughed again, looked away, and then after a second or two (almost as if he was searching for something to say) he said “I just hope this isn’t too overwhelming”.

I’m not sure how to decipher this reaction. Yes I was wearing pheros, but not anything he hasn’t been exposed to before (MX135, IS, IH, LAM). Was this an uncomfortable reaction? Embarrassed? I’ve never seen a guy giggle and look away like this before. I think he turned a bit red, too.

I could be wrong, but it doesn’t sound like he was uncomfortable, possibly a bit embarassed. It seems to me that his reaction and statement suggest that he knows there is a definite attraction between the two of you and either felt that he showed a little more than he intended, or that you did. 🙂

You never stated your reply to the “I just hope this isn’t too overwhelming” statement. That could have helped to clarify where he’s at or what he meant.

It’s possible, but I did nothing more than I usually do when he starts staring at me, and that is stare back. Not a “staring down” type of stare… I think you know the kind I mean. 😉 One of us usually breaks it around the 4 or 5 second mark. That was the first time it wasn’t broken, but reacted to.

I just said “No, I don’t think so”, and he continued to ramble about work for another minute before going back to his office.

Hey ariadne

I would say he is interested in you. You mention this has been going on for a while and that one of you always breaks. He probably has picked up on it as well and if wondering if it means your interested. I think the giggle was defiantly nerves. I dont know what you where talking about before the stare but the statement to me sounds like a mild inudendo indicating he is interested and he hopes your not uncomfortable with that.

I think if the statement was a warning because he realised there is sexual tension there and was uninterested he would not have continued rambling about work but would have broken the conversation.

When he stares at you pay attention to his body stance. Is he facing you full on with a open stance ? Is his legs spread about shoulder length apart ? Does he sort of lean in when he speaks to you ? Does he seem to posture at all sort of showing off his best attributes ?

Body language will tell you alot so watch how he presents himself.

Tisha

I have staring contests with lots of my female friends. It’s just fun to do sometimes, but there is sexual tension sometimes too. . . XD

Work stuff was being discussed, nothing exciting. 😛

Yes to all of these things. When we are discussing something resting on a waist-high (to me) bench in front of us, he usually bends over at the waist and rests on his elbow while I stand upright (he’s about a foot taller than me). When he does this, he’s always leaning into me with most of his body turned toward me. When we are viewing something on a computer screen, we are usually standing **very close** to one another, and he never leans back or backs away.

Like I have mentioned before, he is _very_ reactive to all of the [pheromones](https://a314.com/) I have worn around him, but mostly in the way of treating me differently than his usual manner. He can be very difficult for most people to deal with, and tends to blow up at the drop of a hat, but he does not do this with me _at all_. I think this is partly his natural affinity for me and partly the pheros working on him. 😉 This is the first “misstep” sort of reaction he’s made, however, where I could tell he acted counter to how his brain would tell him to if he had time to think about it. Just wasn’t sure what it meant!

I think he is interested, he does recognize that there is attraction between the two of you, and he is a little nervous/shy/unsure how to proceed.

Instant honesty can do that. It produces hypnotic gazes. Heck, all the nols can do that. I made a brief “hypnotic” gaze at “Skip” last week, and suddenly he is acting like we are old pals when I go into the coffee shop. I think that reaction just means you two are now on a “deeper” level than you were before, and you can go from there. He probably is attracted to you, or at least thinks you are interesting. As I said, that reaction isn’t necessarily sexual, you just connected with him, he connected with you, he became aware of this subconscious activity, and then he had some nervous laughter. Our subconscious mind pops up all the time into our conscious like that, but most of us don’t know what it is when we see it.

Oh, I’m aware of that. Like I said, I was wearing nothing he hasn’t been exposed to every workday for several months.
