Quite a few pheromone are “territory markers”, and as such, are found abundantly not only in your sweat, but your urine, too.

There is probably nowhere else awash with human territorial markers as the restroom. Ever consider that?

There is also nowhere else nearly as awash in SEX SEGREGATED human territorial markers as public restrooms, as there are very few unisex restrooms. Most are male or female.

This is ripe ground for psychological observation!

Ever notice a HUUUUUUUUGE gap between the bathroom behaviors of men and women? Seriusly… It’s enormous!

Women will CONGREGATE in restrooms. Women can actually make NEW FRIENDS in a restroom, a fact which literally blows most men away upon learning it, since the male experience is so different.

Heterosexual men sometimes can’t even pee in stall next to another man without being considered “gay”. Unless there’s a urinal a space apart from one that’s being used open, truly masculine men will just wait, or they’ll pee and get extra macho about it. Men don’t tend to make friends in bathrooms. In fact, bathroom talk, especially amongst strangers, is downward awkward amongst men unless they’re extremely inebriated. Flushing is a rarity (i.e., leaving your territorial markers for others), and handwashing is often viewed as an art best practiced somewhere apart from other men.

No doubt there’s correlation here between the typical male and female terristoerial [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/) found in urine, and the behaviour. This behavior strongly correlates with our own research and empirical observations made by pheromone enthusiasts.

Can’t we just tie this to the same thing that makes heterosexual women willing to “play” (ie makeout) with their heterosexual female friends yet if men are walking side by side and their hands accidently touch, it’s very akward…

Yes!

FANTASTIC example, I really like that.

What’s great about these particular examples is how humorous this particular train of observations are… this is a truly “funny” set of sex differences, and their accompanying hormonal/pheromonal differences.

Shows like Loveline with Adam Corrola and Dr. Drew thrive on these simple “mysterious” differences, as they puzzle on about them for 2 hours every night, 5 days a week.

Your post on differences in “bathroom behavior” is right on. I can’t comment much on the pheromonal aspect of it, but from a psychological aspect, here’s a woman’s perspective.

Yes, we do bond in the bathroom. Especially in a night-club setting. Part of it is that we wash our hands, and then proceed to re-apply perfume, make-up, lip-gloss, make sure the mascara didn’t smear, etc. This gives us plenty of time to strike up a conversation with the gal standing next to us.

Now, about this habit of ours to go “Gee, I need to go to the bathroom - Girlfriend, will you go with me?” That is just a ploy to have some private time and discuss the guys. So if you’re on a double date or just two guys hanging out with two girls: You can learn alot from watching the attitude and body language of the girls as they emerge from the bathroom!

Guaranteed you were discussed in there. If your date displays a sudden change of attitude, you can pretty much infer that the feedback from her girlfriend was either very positive or not so good, as the case may be.

I think “societal attitude towards homosexuality” has a lot to do with this as well. I personally have no problem whatsoever with homosexual men, but many straight men still do.

It is a well-known fact, however, that many men fantasize about observing two women going at it together. Therefore girls might feel more comfortable about physical proximity/touching each other etc than guys do. Even if they are not one bit lesbian. They might even sometimes stroke each other’s hair or something like that as a covert “tease” aimed at guys. No different from a low-cut tank top.

Thanks. It’s not even necessarily from known pheromones. At least one study has shown greater urinary levels of alpha androstenol in men, not women. But you can’t be 100% sure about these studies, since many haven’t been repeated in the exact same manner.

Nightclub settings are especially rife with pheromones, outside and within the restroom. The janitorial team has quite a task for themselves after the club or bar closes, but not during.

I think most men would rather die than speak to the person next to them at the sink, from what I’ve observed.

I’ve also observed that men seem to think anyone hanging around the sink to do anything, but briefly wash their hands, is either a homeless hobo or gay.

Drunk buddies will exchange a few words, but it’ll seldom become the party-within-a-party like atmosphere that women seem to enjoy in the restroom.

That’s men’s cues to discuss the women, as well, but at the table or bar… well away from the restroom.

Strong, overriding concerns may be voiced, may “leak out”, anywhere, however.

Yes, we certainly can learn quite a bit.

That’s why I have all my dates wear a wire…

… for scientific purposes, of course.

I’m curious to know if / how well you might recall the last time you were in an attended men’s lavatory in the US – a fellow there to hand out small towels, provide hair tonic and combs, hand lotion, etc. It really is like entering a different world. Having an “official” men’s toilet moderator present definitely opens the air to communication.

I’ve also heard that there are still places in the world where, instead of toilet paper, someone is tasked with the job of wiping, cleaning, and fragrancing the backsides of the patrons …

errgh, thanks MarkL, nice visual!

I was amazed at MHarris’ description of male restroom behavior and incredulously ran it by my husband, who confirms every detail. Except, he says, at the higher corporate level where handwashing and polite exchanges do occur (even unmoderated!). However, one still avoids the single empty stall that adjoins an occupied one.

Weird! When WE have to go, we have to GO!

I wonder if there’s a correlation with women whose bathroom behavior tends to not follow this exact pattern, e.g. not going to the bathroom in pairs, wanting more privacy (e.g. an empty stall) between her and next patron, if these women excrete different pheromones than the typical woman?

Do lesbians as a whole have a different pheromone signature than straight women? I’m straight but get a LOT of hits from lesbian and bi-sexual women.

Most men are so afraid of their own sexuality…it’s pathetic.

I think most me act like they do because they are afraid that if they catch sight of someones penis or shock horror! someone sees there’s that will make them appear ‘gay’

I’m still not sure wether its because a)most guys secretly fear they might be gay (attraction has no regard for gender - a straight man will be attracted to the image of a handsome man [this is not the same as sexual desire] believe he shouldn’t have these feelings) or b) calling them ‘gay’ still seems to be the worst insult you can give a straight man - that guys are so frightened by anything that might have a homoseual conotation.

I ‘fool around’ will all my friends 😃 Infact I don’t think there has ever been a student on my bootcamp that didn’t get groped by me…😮😮

Get over yourselves guys…

I always make friends in the toilets… “this is where all the knobs hang out” (while standing at a urinal) always goes down well.

gosh, that is just so weird to think about! I’ve never been in a men’s restroom, so I have no idea how y’all do it.

The ladies room is a fabulous place, mostly. I like it when they have sofas and stuff to add to the hanging-out vibe. It’s so relaxing to go in there with a girlfriend, chit-chat, and reapply makeup. it’s also awesome to get to talk about the guys (heh!).

When I was at college, some of the Muslim women (the ones who wore hijab, anyway) would go into the womens’ lounge where there were sofas and tables so they could study. I guess it was more comfortable for them than being in a gender-mixed environment like the library.

Highly interesting. I have noticed that when i go to the public bathroom and there are like 10 urinals, i will chose one randomly, sometimes there is a big nasty leftover pee in it and i automaticaly swich urinals because i’m repulsed by it. Some other guys’ nasty pheromones…

Guys will avoid my urinal more than others after i pee.

Also, last time i was in a club, i went to the bathroom and i almost got into a fight.

Yhea, the women REALLY do take 30 minutes to go pee together during classes at college. For me, i pee as fast as i can because i find bathrooms nasty, i want to get the hell out of there. When i pee with my friends though, its another story, its really funny and nasty things happen, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

I reacall seeing a TV bit where a woman’s “restroom” someplace included a bar (with female bartender) where they could sit and chit-chat.

I haven’t seen attendents in years, except in Jamaica where there was a woman ladeling out hand-washing water from a barrel. No running clean water.

I find it is similar in the changing rooms at the gym where I go to. I know it probably depends on the gym, but where I go to, there is no talking if possible at all, not even looking at each other.

The only exception is if you meet friends. But everybody else (including me? why would I?) is so afraid to be gay that I feel almost guilty by directly looking at some other man for longer than .1 seconds. I follow the protocol quite closely myself. Consciously I don’t have a problem with being gay or not. But I do feel this pressure of not talking and not looking, like most men probably do.

Does the strong presence of [male pheromones](https://phero.com/) play a role? Does it send a message to keep a low profile because I am not interested in fighting? I used to think it’s just the fear to have any kind of homesexual feeling. But maybe the pheromones do play a role here.

Over the years since I am going to there, like hundreds of times, it happened only once that a stranger chatted to me. And he was actually gay, and hitting on me. No problem, but… does this prove a point?

Well, Thomas, women actually take more time in the restrooms bcoz they do more gossiping than what actually they should do!!😃 😃 (I guess I’m going to be whacked by them any minute now!)😃

I have a female friend who everytime she hopped into my car, she wanted to pee, and I have to look for a gas station and it drives me crazy!!

People are attracted to beauty in general. You can find like 56563517467 studies on how even at a young age we find ourselves attracted to symmetrical/pretty things. Accepting that another man is attractive doesn’t make a dude gay…making out with him, however, does.😛

And personally, I’m kinda disgusted when I see someone hasn’t flushed the toilet or didn’t wash their hands. I don’t care how manly you are, some things are just WRONG.

The comedian Bill Hicks had a routine where he complained about guys feverishly washing their hands in the bathroom, “Calm down, guys! It’s just yer d\*\*k! You don’t have to boil your hands!” or something like that. It was kind of funny, but PERSONALLY I wash my hands every time after I go to the bathroom. Handwashing is the #1 way to reduce the spread of germs and illness - it was drilled into my head during EMT training…I have to admit that it really grosses me out if people neglect to wash their hands after doing something like visiting the loo, changing the litterbox, taking out rubbish, etc. I mean…were you born in a barn? Get some soap and warm water, for pete’s sake!

we did alot of posting a long time ago on this.
there are studies in the archives about lesbos being different, and bi not being far from that.
if i can find them, ill post them up but suffice to say they ARE different.
for instance,IFM doesnt affect me positively at all. i _still_ try to get it to work for me,LOL!
copulins affect me _bigtime_.
do a search,its there somewhere 🙂
