My girl has some definite opinions about what she likes for body hair on men (her likes for facial, body and groin) and it got me wondering what the general consensus is among women, if certain age groups have different likes and if there are subsets and supersets (e.g. you like a man with a shaved chest, but would be OK if he had normal growth there, but not if he had wolfman growth). I thought it might be useful if men were trying to attract a certain age group of women and also because I’m just curious.

I am 24. Male. Just got rid of all my facial hair - and side burns. Seems to work better for me with girls aged 17 to 23. Have got the shortest side burns I’ve ever had as an adult too. Makes me look youngish. Suppose it depends on the person. Just my 2 cents.

I think it totally, 100% depends on the individual fella. Some guys look great with a hairless chest. Some guys would not look so good if they waxed it off. On some guys, macho chest hair is nice. However, if a man looks like he’s wearing a sweater when he’s shirtless…I find that really gross, personally.

I cannot ABIDE facial hair of any description, on men - totally loathe it!

Same goes for a hairy back. Get it waxed! I like groin kept neat and tidy (I have a full Hollywood myself after all, so if I can make the effort…) and chest hair I don’t mind too much - as long as it’s not a bloody tangled forest.

I had facial hair on-and-off for over a year and I must say the safe play is to be clean shaven. Also having facial hair was a waste of a perfectly well done chin job 😃

Matt

PS: A full Hollywood on a guy round these parts would be seen as a little gay or as an attempt to add an extra inch. 😮

That would be why I said I like THAT area on a man, to be neat.

Sac, back and crack waxes for men over here, are ten a penny.

Very popular, and certainly not only with the gay community. Many so-called “macho” men here who are active in Rugby or football or the like, often have their regular waxing trips to the salon too.

Ooh, AK, you bring up some great ideas that I’d like to elaborate on.

Yes, it totally depends on the individual fella, but more than that, its congruency! (oh, and grooming, but that’s step 2.)

Congruency:

A broad chested man, dominant demeanor, big arms, looks amazing with sexy tufts of dark chest hair. He might even be able to pull off dark arm hair, especially if his forearms are hard and toned.

A mousey man who spends too much time in front of the computer (slouch) and looks pallid as the pale moonlight… umm… who has thick arm hair or chest hair? You look weird and the Beemer doesn’t help. Groom it.

Tom Selleck can do body hair. He can even rock thick arm hair. Ali G… well he’s a comedian for a _reason_.

I think we might be at a funny transition point in human evolution where the traditional, giant Alpha male figure is phasing out of the provider role and the more compact and _mentally nimble_, smaller man is taking over.

Smaller men are incongruent with our genetic lineage, since they were not typically the type to bear a batch of robust children. Most of the “weak” ones would be killed off or fade away.

But like they say, “Only the smart survive”. Enough of the smarter, nimbler, sharper smaller men of generations past forged a way of living clever enough to work for them (shift from hunting gathering to agrarian farming, from working hard all day, to creating tools that work FOR them).. and now you see their evolutionary babies, the smart nerds of today, killer at everything technological, cranial, mechanical, you name it,

But crappy at what those hunter gatherer types excel at. Makin’ big strong babies and clubbing animals over the head. 😃

People need to get interbreeding so the next strain of human evolution is a sexy supermanmachine covered in congruent body hair, diffusing sexymones out for the entire world to whiff, while still being daft, intelligent and adept.

Back to body hair.

It’s function is to whip diffuse out your pheromonal signature. Body hair good.

Hygeine. It’s function is to make you presentable to other humans. Excessive body hair, at least in American culture, is on the surface frowned upon.

Best of both worlds: Groomed body hair is, as lor would say, sexxay.

Oh the mental picture! lol

I am 32, just for reference. I absolutely detest facial hair of any sort, and I always have. Whenever I see a man with a beard or mustache I don’t even bother to look twice. Kissing a man with facial hair is not very pleasant, to me at least. An man with a five o’clock shadow may look a bit sexy, but all the sexiness is over with when they try to kiss me. Who wants to have their face rubbed off with sandpaper. (Not exactly great for going down on a women either.) So facial hair, no. Smooth face, yes.

I love chest hair on a man, as long as he doesn’t look like a bear. I think love to run my fingers through a nice msaculine chest. And quite frankly, I think that it is quite an erotic sensation to feel a man’s chest hair against my breasts during sex.

I don’t care for overly hairy arms. A little bit of hair there is fine as long as it isn’t screaming for attention. Pit hair is fine as long as it isn’t so long that you could braid it.

I prefer neatly trimmed pubic hair, but hairless down there would be gross to me. My preference for hair on the legs would be the same as that for the arms.

Overall, I like some hair on a man, but not too much. A completely hairless or waxed man repulses me for some reason. After all, body hair helps in telegraphing [pheromones](https://a314.com/) into the air. Why would you want to handicap yourself in that way? Maybe this is the reason why I do not like hairless men as much as those with a bit of hair. The hairless men just don’t put out as many pheromones as those with some hair, so naturally I would be drawn to someone with a higher pheromone output.

What Ilsa said (thanks Ilsa, you saved me writing an essay!)

If your hair bothers you or you think it’s excessive, trim it (get an electric hair groomer) but don’t remove it completely, that’s just too vain-appearing in a guy. Not to mention making you look kind of sexless, if you weren’t hairless naturally. Stubble is not sensual.

Some guys look kind of sexy with a beard, but any hair around your lips is really abrasive for kissing.

what i like for myself is all together different than what i like in a man.
i like a man natural.
if he’s hairy,so be it.
if it bugs him and he shaves,so be it,lol,he’s got to be comfortable for me to be comfortable with him…
personally i have dated both kinds of guys, and hair was forever a non-issue.
when a guy is _sexxay_ its the package. i wont find someone partially sexy except for something that bugs me (like hair).
either you rock your stuff, or you dont.
there are guys who can rock the silliest of tattoos if seen on another person, get it?
a guys who really digs his own facial hair, and its obvious its not out of laziness or poor grooming, then i say _sexxay_.
body hair? be **clean** be **natural** get over the fads.
rock your stuff.

If she likes you enough, she will like everything you have or don’t have …

Now if you have 2 heads and a tail, or look like “it” in Adam’s family movie, that’d be asking too much.

Just like when you like her you will soon forget the in-built mags image, and just like her as she is.

I’ve had facial hair on and off over the years. I’ve found that with facial hair, I attract certain women, and when I’ve gotten rid of it, different women were attracted, so, I say it doesn’t matter. Some women like it, some don’t, but “different strokes for different folks”. As for chest hair, I’ve had it since I was 14, and their both doing just fine!!

All right! I remember posting something about beards earlier, but add on the body hair! Here we go:

(Oh, and words of a 21 year old)

Beards - I’m not a huge fan of them – if anything they need to be close cropped. I hate hate hate wizard beards, and I’ve seen them on young guys. Now goatees for some reason – on certain people - look REALLY good. Then again, it’s all about the person themselves. I happen to be one of those girls that like constant 5 o’clock shadows – but as I haven’t kissed anyone in nearly a year (long story, and my will power is running out), I don’t have to worry about that “sandpaper” issue. 😉

And in the end – it’s as Lor says. It’s entirely the person as a whole, and none of it will matter.

Wolverine is mad hairy and still a sexy sexy man.

Side burns – LOVE THEM. LOVE. This goes back to me watching too many BBC miniseries and Masterpiece Theatre, and having a huge collection of period dramas. Mutton chops are completely different. But I love side burns…

But to amend to beards – I hate those LONG sideburns that are basically a beard and meet at the chin – you know those weird long lines? What’s up with that?

And body hair – I agree with most of the ladies here. Arm hair and chest hair doesn’t bother me NEARLY as much as neck, back, and leg hair does. I guess leg hair – if it’s too thick, I’m not into it. Now that I think about it, that’s pretty strange – and also why I love cyclists so.

OH!!! And an issue people haven’t really talked about:

Eyebrows. What is so wrong with a guy getting his eyebrows done? If you have a unibrow – do something, please! Us girls do. One of my guy friends said that it hurt too much – HAH! So bite into a stick and get them done. They’re like an instant face lift and open your face up. And you won’t look girly. I’m not saying shaped, just saying cleaned up.

And Matt – you shaved your sideburns? ☹ …and I’m trying not to believe you on the chin job issue 🙄 I’m assuming you’re joking, but you know how quick I am to assume someone’s had surgery.

I have a moustache because in college, in EVERY theatrical production I was cast in, they stuck one on, so I just gave up and grew one. (Moderate size, no handlebars [too lazy to maintain], and not like a certain dictator of the 30’s-40’s) Kept it ever since. Actually I think it helps balance my too-round face.

Like or don’t. Your call. Whatever. Deal with it.

Body hair is as body came with. Deal with it.

I do trim the “old man” hairs though. Those odd ones that grow from ears, eyebrows, etc.
