Hello pherophriends! I have a job opportunity in Boca Raton, FL and plan on moving there soon. Has anyone lived in south florida who can give me a headsup on what to expect? Anyone who lives in the area who would be willing to tell me what hotspots or fun things there are to do? ---

Family used to have a house in Daytona Beach when my brother attended Embry Riddle. You drive on the beach and party downtown in clubs by night. That’s all I remember 😃. It was fun and lots of girls. ---

Let’s see we have general heat all year around except from about the end of December through January and sometimes into early February when things are more temperate around here. Living here all my life I still find summer to be brutal here. Boca Raton is normally seen as where the more well to do people live and that is pretty true in general. In general florida is mostly about the beaches and the nightlife as you probably already know. If you dont like sun, sand, drinking, dancing, and latinas there isnt much else to do here. Fishing, Jetski and any other form of water sport is fun to do down here. Off the top of my head Hard Rock is popular which is in the hollywood end, so basically Hollywood, Las Olas, South beach, Downtown Miami in particular to catch basketball games, concerts, and Bayside among other things. I wish I could tell you more but I’m not much of a nightlife person myself 😃 ---

I think you’re really going to like it there if you’re going to be living in Boca. Some of the surrounding cities south of Boca can be pretty crappy as you go inland though. There are plenty of little downtown areas with bars and restaurants that most of the cities have that are usually located near the water. You will kind of have to drive around and explore a little on the weekends to find out what areas you like to hang out at. Probably the two closest cities to you that will definitely have some nightlife are West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. ---

Bugs (BIG bugs), humidity, flat, too much green, New York retirees, KKK members, and some great Cuban food. When I lived there (south Miami) it had the highest cost of living, highest crime rate, and highest car insurance rates in the US.
