**ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN)** – The Georgia Supreme Court on Friday ordered that Genarlow Wilson be released from prison, ruling 4-3 that his sentence for a teen sex conviction was cruel and unusual punishment.

Genarlow Wilson’s case received national attention and led to changes in Georgia law.

Wilson was convicted in 2005 of having oral sex with a consenting 15-year-old girl when he was 17.
He has served two years in prison.
**Wilson’s attorney, B.J. Bernstein,** told CNN that he can be released as soon as a Monroe County judge issues a new order and it is served to the attorney general and the department of corrections.

I had good laugh with name…

Hey, that’s really cool, though. Glad to hear he’s out. One of my friends knew this guy. He was a really good high school football player. He played cornerback against Calvin Johnson twice in high school and held him to no yards both times. (or something like that)

Story goes that he used to get real upset and sometimes cry every time he saw Johnson on tv, because Johnson was living the dream life while he was stuck in jail for a long time for frivolous reasons. Had he actually had sex with the girl instead of just recieving oral, he would have gotten a lighter sentence… 😕

Was watching some grandstanding sack of shit politician in the georgia legislature who insisted that this was a “rape”… i.e. he had raped her because _consensual oral sex should be considered the moral equivalent of rape,_ in his profound personal opinion… obviously this guy was posing big time for his fundamentalist constituency… railroading horny kids makes for good press among the sexually frustrated 😕 😕 😕

When he was questioned on camera after, he had this weird stupid smug “if you was only as wise as me, you dumbass newsman” attitude… 🆒 🆒

Often times you see people in government trying to pass laws and such that they believe are “moral.” Problem with this is that it’s not up to the government to decide morality. Morals are someones individual choice. Government laws should be created only if its better for society as a whole to be run that way.

For example, murder is illegal not because it’s “immoral” to kill people, but because we would have a very messed up society if murderers were not punished. Same with rape, thievery, speeding, and so on. Is speeding immoral? Hell no, but is it not better for society to put limits on how fast one can go in a residential area?

Government tries to overstep their jurisdiction by passing all these “moral” laws. Both Dems and Republicans do it. Some things, like gay marriage, aren’t up to the government to decide, yet they think it’s their buisiness to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong.
