For mixers out there, just curious how do you go about in creating new mixes?
I assumed you already sort of know what each component of your mixes does solo and you want to try how they work out in synergy, but how do you decide on the ratio of each? Simple try and error would most likely strike out.

I wonder how people come up with brilliant mixes like Mx301,302,353, 297, Pheroproof for example? Near unlimited resource and testing?

Is there a smarter/more systematic way to go about doing it? Plus with new mixes, it’s harder to find your sweet spot. You don’t know whether your mix is a complete dud or you have a wickedly awesome one but you’re just OD’ing on it.

Thoughts?

I was wondering the same thing, I’m kinda gettin a lil antsy wanting to try testing some stuff out myself. Now this is how I personally think one should go about it.

Step One…Make sure you have a solid handle on the consumer line, what your sweet spot is and what kind of effects the products give you. Throwing together a haphazard mix does no good if you don’t know how to read changes in peoples behavior well enough to gauge if the mix works.

Step Two…sweet spot test the experimones and putatives one at a time. The P70’s and P90’s have 5-packs of molecules and I’m told that one for the P80’s is possible.

Step three…WTF do you want to accomplish?..seriously, starting out without a specific goal is just asking for failure.

Step four…consider complimentary molecules (two products that have different but still similar results) I would imagine if you have two products that while not exactly alike, are very similar you can pull back on the dosage of each in anticipation of a synergistic effect. Will it be buffered or not? Are you going for pure sex, or do you want a social to buffer? and what social would have a complimentary effect? etc.

Figuring the doses for each like I said can be based off personal experience and factoring in multiple molecules with similar effects. You may also get some idea’s from user reports on putatives. For example I’ve read in several places that P86 and [P83](https://a314.com/product/p83/) are good in a 1/3 or 1/4 ratio.

Mixes are created very carefully and very slowly. Pheroproof took years for futurist to test and make. You also need access to a lot of the mones your planning on using.

Generally…

You first need to have some ideal what each putative does and a general dosage. When your mixing a bunch together you dont put in your sweet spot dosage for every putative. Usually just for the primary 1 or 2 [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/) your working around. The rest are to steer and compliment those. (I usually only use one primary)

Decide what intention your mix will have… sexual, social, masculine, work mix, etc etc.

Now dont jump right into mixing them in a bottle. Big labs with unlimited access have the option of mixing right out of the gate. Unless your prepared to spend a lot of money your going to approach it differently.

**LAYER** just two that you want to use. That’s your primary and 1 putative. Learn how each putative works with your primary and how it steers your primary, keeping track of your dosages. Do this with each putative you plan to use in the mix to gain a better understanding how they work together. This process can take months.

Now move up to layering 2 putatives with your primary. Also test the two putatives together without your primary to see how they effect each other. This process can take months as well.

You keep doing this process, testing each one together and with your primary until your satisfied with your **layered mix** and its working well towards your intention.

Then look at all the notes that I do hope you were keeping during this process. Now **MIX** a small test batch in a bottle.

Sometimes you will have to add or omit certain molecules or play with the ratios. You see AD doing this when they release a Test mix pack of 5 or 6 similar mixes together.

Testing these can take months as well.

Hopefully in the end you have a mix that works well for you and your intention.

Other tips…

Its better to get your chemicals as raw as possible but since most of us are not lab techs thats impossible for us so we use AD putatives. I usually up the concentration a bit from what I usually buy because I will be diluting them down in the mix. Its just more cost effective for me. Of couse if you were to make a mix for commercial use you would have to buy your mones raw and not use coded mones from here. The process of testing is basically the same but just more complicated. If your using the coded pheromones from here then you really have no ideal what your mix has in it or how to replicate it if goddess forbid AD were to close or run out of that particular molecule. Thats where futurist ran into trouble. Sure he created it but he didnt know what it was.

Always use single molecules when mixing. I see a lot of people mixing with mixes. Not good.

Keep in mind more is not better. A good mix can be simply 1 primary and 1 putative. Take MX215 for instance. I think its one of the best mixes they have for laid back fun and socialization… its just two simple pheromones. Start out with simple.

You have to make a decision about how your going to scent your mix. If your buying from AD you already have the carrier built in. You can get unscented and add your own scent. Remember this effects the ratio of pheromones per spray. Or get light neroli and just cover with your own scent.

I cant think of anything else off the top of my head. Look for posts by Dancing Joker. He is the messiah of non commercial mix creations.

Unless your rich and can waste pheromones then never just throw shit together in a bottle with out going through the process. People ruin perfectly good pheromones all the time doing this and once you mess them up its sometimes impossible to salvage them.

On a side note… You see some companies on the net selling one of two mixes. These they probably worked on for some time before releasing them but there are also those who blindly just mix a much of cheap molecules from china to make a buck. You also see, especially in the last year, a lot of new companies popping up and banging out new mixes really fast or just starting up with a store full of mixes. Real pheromone companies dont bang out mix after mix. Look at how long it takes AD, Dr Dodd, Natural attraction, JVkohl…all the big names in pheromone technology to release a mix. They are good because of the knowledge, time, effort and testing they put into there products. I buy products from all over and the best ones are from those who take there time even though I get impatient LOL

Thanks for the advice! It seems that making a new mx is much similar to the traditional way of creating a new fragrance. You start with the user in mind (male/female, causal/formal, night/day wear, etc) and progress from there.
It’s like choosing the right pallete for the base notes (primary molecules), middle notes (your buffers) and top notes (carrier).

Yeah totally agree with you on that one, I don’t see the point of creating a new mix by destroying the already carefully adjusted mix ratio with another tested mix. I want to start with raw molecules. You brought up a very important point though I don’t know what is inside those Putatives really :d. And I think AD will keep most if not all of them as trade secrets which is understandable.

Lol even if I were rich, I won’t take a mone dump like that 😃

I guess bottom line is that mixing is very time and resource intensive…
definitely not for amateur hobbyist who is not connected to big labs. For me, I could see that tweaking the ratio and testing the mixes would be the biggest hurdles. Plus I can get very impatient waiting to get results as well.
Maybe I should just conserve my supplies to recreate some of the tried and true Mxes that are no longer available.
Originally I was thinking that some senior mixers would have a “magic cookbook” like what Rad alluded to, say mix p86 & p83 always in 1/3 or 1/4 ratio but I guess I was drifting to Harry Potter’s potions class instead of staying in touch with reality…

Thanks, I’ll look him up. Maybe I’ll see the light 😉

I just finished compiling some notes on mixing from the forum archives. They’re at: [Dbot's Pheromone Journal - #113 by dbot](https://pheromonetalk.com/t/dbots-pheromone-journal/43727/113)

When I started just making my own combinations, I had the luxury of know what was in one of my most fav ones, Steve’s ICM. I knew what worked and I went with it. However, I’ve found that the simplest ones are the best.

IE, A314 + P96 + TUTH

P83 + [P74](https://pheromonelabs.com/product/p74/) + BNol

You don’t really need too much to get things accomplished. Now granted, PS, Project UF are probably intensive with precise ratios, but just how much better do they work. You’ll read they will be hit or miss, and would work amazing with some people and not for others.
