I guess I’m screwed. You know how hard it is to get motor oil or grease off? Well, I guess I wouldn’t take hands like that on a date, of course, but you can’t just wash crap like that off under a sink.

In all seriousness, that is good advice, for a certain type of woman, one that doesn’t have a huge shield up. I have actaully tried that kind of stuff in the past (being nice and acting too interested) and it doesn’t work all that well _for me._ I’m a lone wolf kind of guy, and when I tried to be nice to a woman in the past, it was usually seen as insincere or people accused me of not caring/being a PUA, even though that was the opposite of how I felt. The whole “game” thing does not come natural to me at all.

I think alot of young people in general in this country are very cynical, too. We don’t believe that cowboys were good anymore, or there are such things as knights in shining armor, and we are taught to suspect anybody that acts like a Boy Scout as if he were a member of a kool-aid drinking cult. Get the picture?

Some women in the US (heck alot) have alot of “shielding” up to rebuff men. This seems to last until they get older and realize “oh crap, my life is 1/3 or 1/2 over, and I need to stop being so stuck up and open up to men or I’ll just die bitter and alone”. Some never learn, of course.

I did buy it on faith, after having read several great reviews on it. When I first got it I also got about 7 bottles of the-common-scents colognes at the same time, and on first smell I thought it kind of feminine. But that was probably because I had been huffing on so many bottles that my senses were confused. 😕 Now I really like it!

I couldn’t agree more. But, once they hit middle age a lot of women tend to lose that optimistic outlook and zest for life that the 20 something year olds are filled with.

It kind of sucks! At my age the women that I have the most in commmon with and should be the most compatiable, I have no interest in. I may be 45 years old, but feel 20 inside and still see the world as my oyster!

The 20 something year olds are definitely harder to get past the sheilds and barriers than 40 year olds, but once you do, they are so much more fun!

Here’s a quote of the first sentence from my very first posting on this forum: 🙂

It is called “maturity”, and I wouldn’t say it is losing optimism, it’s having life experiences. At 30-something I’m actually more optimistic now than I am at 25, because the longer I live, the more I see how things eventually work out. The awareness of the passage of time is an important part of maturity, too. The inexperience and immoderation of youth is acceptable moreso because young people count only the years they have lived, and older people count the years they haven’t.

I’d never date a 20 year old woman.. no time for the games and I’d feel like a paedophile. She’d have to be incredibly mature for her age, which I think is unlikely. The last woman I fell in love with was much younger than me, and she just used me and spat me out (and _nothing_ happened), so I’m turned off by younger women.

> [@](#):

Yes, it’s amazing how ineffective that stuff truely is. The only thing that gets my hands really clean after I work on a motorcycle or car is time and maybe a long bath. Most mechanics I have met have somewhat dirty hands all the time, it is just part of the job.

Yes, we live in a society where you aren’t suppossed to be attracted to competent women _who know what they want_… only “bubble headed blonds” and Swedish swimsuit teams. No offensive to young, blond women, but you do not turn me on! (and yes, Hillary is attractive in her own way, whatever the rumors are about her- doesn’t mean I vote for her though necessarily).

Another thing I like is athleticism, or a woman that isn’t afraid to participate in “men’s” activities. I like women scooterists and motorcycle riders, but they are few and far between. Some of them look _so_ good in motorcycle gear. I also like women that are a little brave. Most women are a bit terrified of getting on a motorcycle, even if I ride pretty sedately, which is my usual style. People just assume “OMG, I’m going to die”.

And, I don’t mind short hair on a woman, either. Really short hair. I guess that makes me a super-freak. Short hairstyles from like the 20’s and 30’s are cool, as are almost “butch” hairdos (well, not too butch- my mom got a haircut once that my dad accused of being “lesbian” but I thought it looked great on her). heh heh.

I can accept that Mark just happens to like younger women. People have different likes and dislikes, and one is as good as another.

Oh, and Bella… I edt so much because I have motor mouth, or motor-hands 🙂 I don’t know how to say stuff concisely sometimes. It sucks that I’m a very verbal person and type 60 words per minute, I guess.

OK, let’s clear this up, I said 20 something year olds, which encompasses the 20 to 29 year old age group. I did not say that I like 20 year olds, as I do agree that they are still trying to figure out who they are and what their place is in this world.

However, if I were to meet a 20 year old who had her act together and knew where she was going in life, I would not feel like a pedophile for dating her!

I do however, usually date girls closer to 30.

Agreed, and you’ll notice that I used no absolutes. I said “a lot of women tend to”. This by no means was meant to imply all women. I can tell just from your writings that you’re not one of those that has lost her zest for life, nor would most of the ladies here would not fall into that catagory. Let’s face it, it takes a leap of faith and a lot of optimism to use and experiment with pheromones, as we do! 🙂

Bella, it ain’t really about age, but more about outlok and attitude. My first wife was older than me, and I have dated other women my age and older. Again, the age statement was a generalization.

Again, I agree. But, in my personal experiences, I know more “dull as dirt” women my age than those in their 20’s.

Lastly, you know I luv ya too, and if you were single and in Dallas, I’d date you in a heartbeat! 😉

Neither would I… but those women are quite rare. I’ve always been mature for my age, but even at 20… I was just a kid. Of course women are usually more emotionally mature than men, so I cut you some slack. I just haven’t found that many “college age girls” that are interesting. Sure, many of them are nice, but I need something more than good looks and a nice smile to be attracted to somebody now days. Maybe it’s the pheromones… 😃

Believe it or not, for me it’s really not so much about looks as it is attitude. Granted, if I were given a choice between 2 awesome women that I clicked with, one being gorgeous and the other needing to sneak up on doors to open them, I’d take the pretty one. 😃

A woman that I was once completely head over heals in love with and who ended up ripping my heart out and stomping on it was actually below average in looks, but we totally clicked personality and attitude wise, or so I thought. ☹ Oh, and she was also 9 years older than me!

Oh, I get you Mark… you like gals with a winsome and carefree attitude? I don’t necessarily have anything against that, either. But I need some maturity with it, too.

People that are _too_ serious OTOH can get on my nerves, man or woman. Being witty is important. And I admit some older people let their problems or issues dominate their personality. You can really see this in the elderly, for instance. It really hurts them. The stereotypical, melodramatic elderly that talk only about their medications or medical issues. It’s not necessarily their fault, either.

Also, some “mature” people shut down as they get older, that too hurts people- they get more conservative (not necessarily politically) and turn into curmuddgeons. You’ve got to keep a young, open heart if you can.

Not so much winsome and carefree.

I would say I like girls that are goal-oriented, motivated, driven and still believe they can conquer the world, but not at the expense that everything else suffers for it.

To keep my interest they also have to be fun loving and yeah a bit carefree and willing to take risk every now and then. And, of course they have to be intelligent, spontaneous and have a silly side to them. 🙂

People are always attracted to optimistic messages, at least subconsciously (sometimes optimism can be bad, of course, from a rational standpoint, if it causes you to not be cautious enough). Not to get overtly political, but that’s why Obama is doing so well in the polls, and why Reagan did so well in the 80’s. Much as I hate to admit it, my real favorite, John Edwards, was never able to connect his thoughtful policies with an optimistic message, and halfway through his campaign I kept thinking “stop hanging around poor people living in trailers all the time, John. I know you have a big heart but this isn’t going let let you win. Find some soccer moms with nice houses and talk to them”.

I’m sure there are lots of women out there who would say the same about us guys. 😃 To be frank, I don’t think a completely mentally balanced girl would be that much fun in the long run. Perhaps this is the whole “you’ll end up marrying your mother” business, but I need a little bit of that ‘crraaazy fire’ in their eye. 🙂 Healthy on the other hand, should have more emphasis IMO. Girls, I can’t speak for other guys, but I’m not looking for skinny girls, I’m looking for _healthy_ girls.

I don’t know if that’s a significant/important distinction to you ladies, perhaps in the end it still boils down to ‘he’s not happy with who I am’, but I say for your own health, maintaining a healthy diet/lifestyle will be to your benefit in the long run, not mine. 😉

That’s true, anorexia isn’t attractive to me, and I don’t mind a little extra weight and curves on a woman. Voluptious or somewhat muscular, not gaunt. Where women get this attraction to being thin, I don’t know, but there is evidence that it’s more biological than cultural. If it’s cultural, perhaps it has more to do with the culture of the fashion world, than mainstream society.

It just occured to me that Mark is probably talking about the _energy_ of youth attracting him- not just the optimism. I bet he’s a bit of an outgoing extravert. I’m not, I’m more introverted; I don’t like too much energy in social situations.

Acutally, I would have to say it’s both energy and optimism, and I believe they they help to feed on each other. I would expect that it would be hard to be filled with energy if you’ve got a pessimistic attitude about people and life in general.

And yeah, I thrive on high energy social settings, and am the type of person that will walk up to anybody and strike up a conversation.

> That’s true, _ **anorexia isn’t attractive to me, and I don’t mind a little extra weight and curves on a woman. Voluptious or somewhat muscular, not gaunt. Where women get this attraction to being thin, I don’t know, but there is evidence that it’s more biological than cultural. If it’s cultural, perhaps it has more to do with the culture of the fashion world, than mainstream society.** _

Social conditioning is responsible for these feelings in women. From the time our mama squeezes us out…we’re bombared/confronted with all the media crap, at every turn, beating it into our heads…it’s truly brainwashing. We’re fat, hairy, smelly and ugly. And we jus don’t measure up…we’ll _never_ measure up…it’s a depressing, destructive and foolhardy path. I got off _that_ track a loooong time ago. Gotta be able/learn to separate truth from fiction…in order to survive. I ain’t about ta go through _my life_ airbrushed. Fashion models are aberrations. Truthfully if you look at _real_ women’s body types compared to models…well Ima post somethin’very interesting about it…let me dig it up. From what I’ve been told, by men, they don’t like really _skinny_ girls.

D, mark has enough energy for three twenty somethings! 😃 🆒

Perhaps this is the whole “you’ll end up marrying your mother” business, but I need a little bit of that ‘crraaazy fire’ in their eye.** _ 🙂 Healthy on the other hand, should have more emphasis IMO. Yea, definitely a difference between cute crazy and psycho. As for not liking skinny girls, I’m not really that picky. And ‘skinny’ may mean something else to another guy/girl. Let’s just say your clothes shouldn’t look like their draped on a broom handle. I consider myself ‘normal’ and relatively ‘healthy’, but others might look at me and say I’m ‘skinny’ and slap me for calling myself ‘relatively healthy’. Their judgment of ‘skinny’ is their own. 🙄
