Till my pipettes order arrives, I really want to try and make a mix.

I have some [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/)-used pipettes and I’m desperate to clean them.. so I was thinking of doing this:

1. Boiling or hot water mixed with soap.
2. Put the pipettes for 30 minutes.
3. Rinse pipettes with hot or boiling water.
4. Put them upside down in a cup and let them dry for 45 minutes.

What do you guys think?

Hydrogen peroxide is what you need here - the basic 6vols solution sold in pharmacies is fine.

Cool! Can this be used to clean mones off the skin too?

What kind of pipettes do you use?

If you’re concerned about contamination and impurities, flush the pipette with distilled water after everything, although I would say the peroxide would more than suffice

This sounds interesting. Mobo, does hydrogen peroxide remove and clean mones off effectively?

I was thinking more of surfaces for possible build up, eg. car seats and furniture.

No way am I letting any of the stuff get near my clothes.

But I would really like to know if small diluted amounts are able to have a fast “wipe down” on skin to remove [mones](http://www.pheromonetalk.com/) , uses would be to either reduce a possible od or prepare oneself for a new layer of [mones](http://www.pheromonetalk.com/) without having the need for a shower under time constrained circumstance.

Well diluted, yes you probably could use it - historically, peroxide has been used as an antiseptic and they still use it for surgical wound cleaning even today.

However, witch hazel is a far better option for the skin.

Surfaces, yes but I’d test any soft or dyed surface/material first - peroxide is a very effective bleach!

I will go and buy a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide to wash my pipettes..

I just want to make sure that I won’t contaminate my bottles.

Is it really effective?
Is there a specific procedure that I should follow?
Do I wash it with normal water after washing with hydrogen peroxide?
How and how long should I dry it?

If you layer the mones like the system was designed you won’t have to worry about it at all.

Also: Cleaning them with peroxide is dodgy because if it’s not rinsed properly the peroxide will damage the molecules when you fill the pipette. Make sure you rinse with distiller water afterwards.

Will rinsing with normal water work as good?

If you are in a soft water area, then yes rinsing well with plain water will be fine. In hard water areas, yes - distilled is probanly best.

To identify hard/soft areas, just look inside a kettle. If it has limescale forming on the element, its hard.

Peroxide & water are very missable, so a few good rinses should do it no problem.

Also remember that Androtic’s spray volumes (search!) are pretty accurate, so for small batches, you could do the work via a perfume funnel with no risk to your stock supply at all.

Distilled water ALWAYS. Its dirt cheap and you can buy it ANYWHERE. (I’ve even seen it at 7-11)

The issue is temperature and environment. When pipetting out of already formulated product you may not be getting the right dosages.

Anything you mix yourself in a bottle instead of layering is really risky, we don’t recommend it. Read MHarris’ (the creator of AD/instant line) post about it in his section.

I would recommend cleaning your pipettes with rubbing alcohol. If you have been pipetting AD products and/or other colognes or perfumes, then whatever residues are in the pipettes will be soluble in alcohol much more so than water. Especially if you have pipetted oil-based phero products or perfume oils or anything with DPG as the base carrier, water or even soap and water will not efficiently clean them.

Also, the alcohol left in them after rinsing will evaporate much faster than water will.

Boiling water may warp the plastic, depending upon what kind of plastic they are made of.

I don’t see the point of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is good at killing germs but germs aren’t the issue. Plus H2O2 is very destructive to many kinds of molecules, so you wouldn’t accidentally want to get any in your mixes.

Rubbing alcohol contains additives that can leave an unpleasant residue.

If you take the alcohol route, plain Isopropyl is more suitable but that can still leave pheros in the bottles.

Peroxide breaks the pheros down totally and rinses very easily That is what makes it so suitable.

Mind you, a box of a hundred disposable pipettes is pretty cheap - You could avoid the need to rinse altogether.

mobo is right - you may be thinking of hydrogen peroxide because regular rubbing alcohol is awful.

And hydrogen peroxide very good at breaking down mones, actually.

In fact, you said it best yourself:

Which is why I told him not to re-use pipettes at all, and if he has to clean them then to rinse them in distilled water. H2O2 is easily rinsed with distilled H2O.

Layering is the BEST and only accurate method to mix anything without the thousands of dollars of equipment and facilities we have. (We do the work for you - its part of the cost anyway.)

When we test mixes to make new MXs for you guys to try we don’t mix them first in the bottles - we LAYER them.

I don’t know what the obsession is with putting things in a bottle whether its to save time or to feel like a barista - you’re still potentially wasting your money.

I did order a bunch of pipettes from ebay but they take forever to come.
Also I know layering is the best way to go, but here are the pros ans cons in my point of view of layering:

Pros:

- safer for your stock.
- more precise dose.
- no waste of products, pipettes or bottles

Cons:

- Hard to have 3-4 bottles (especially 30ml) ones with you everywhere u go.
- thus limit ur testing results.
- which makes layering a one time application before you leave home. -cant refresh or higher up the dose.
- a togo of the mix is way more portable.

however im with u in the part where u gotta layer on skin at least once before you waste products inna bottle and be stuck with it. i read the article about mixing long time ago.

wrote this with iPhone.

Hydrogen peroxide induces radical reactions, really bad things. Nobody uses it on the skin anymore, even in a clinical setting, and you definetly don’t want to us it on open wounds. It’s still used to clean certain kinds of medical equipment but only equipment known to have high bacterial loads (inner cannula’s in trachs) and is rinsed heavily with sterile water just to get it completely off the equipment because it is so damaging.

I’m old enough to remember the discussion about getting rid of peroxide completely.

In a lab setting, we simply use soap and very warm water (usually something similiar to distilled water). I would think that soap and water, followed by distilled water should be more than enough to keep the plastic pipettes clean.

I think rubbing alcohol would also leave a residue and start to break down the pipette by over drying them, which would make them brittle over time.

Nope. There are more controls in place now certainly but peroxide is still in clinical use, in the UK/EU anyway - In fact it has undergone a resurgance in the last decade or so because of MRSA and other antibiotic-resistance issues.
